I haven't played the retail version so I can't comment yet. However, this is the only forum that seeminly has good things to say about the game. Other sites, even those hardcore only 360 owners @ OS are disenchanted with the game. Maybe the game got patched just for us guys at DSP?

No...it's just that when you really want something to be good, you overlook some things that may otherwise piss you off. It's okay...it's human nature, but anyone who has played the Show 09 knows what a good game is supposed to be. And I'd really like to know if there is ONE person out there who has both that thinks 2k9 is better than 09.

Then again, I think that most of the guys who like 2k9 are just guys that want to have fun with the game. Hell, the controls are pretty fresh. They are fun and easy to learn. The casual fan, which most of the 2k9 supporters here are, don't mind an occasional bug or annoyance. The stats and the sim nature of baseball isn't all that important to a lot of guys. At OS, the baseball crowd is a little more hardcore...thus, if they only have a 360, they are PISSED off. Thankfully, most of us here that are hardcore, have both systems and we can play the Show. That's most likely what it comes down to.

Maybe both you guys skipped over the title which says 360 owners.

No one is saying this game is better than the Show but that' the only game in town for 360 owners. Is the game god awful, NO. Is the game better than The Show, NO. I'm personally having fun with the game and really haven't touched The Show much. I will, but right now i'm having a blast with MLB 2K9 warts and all.

Well then you guys are obviously making a big deal over nothing. The question was asked why are people playing this game when the Show is available? Most everyone in this thread only owns a 360.

Since I don't own a PS3, I can't give an opinion on Show 09. I know most folks who rip 2k9 at OS more than likely probably gave it no more than a couple of innings (really wish I had that skill to know that I don't like something that quickly) and are inclined to not like it anyway. I'm not ashamed that I enjoy 2k9. I'm not going to buy a PS3 just for the Show. I have a great standalone Blu Ray player so PS3 isn't even a consideration. I could find a lot more to do with $400. I feel like I'm as a hardcore a baseball fan as anyone else on this forum or OS. I have some relatives who are just as hardcore who have the show and they tell me how great it is. That's cool. I could just find more worse things to b*tch about than this game. All I ask is that the game keeps stats correctly, plays the game by the rules, doesn't freeze and plays well between the lines. As long as I can customize it to my liking and skill sets I'm good to go.

The game is fun...far from perfect but fun. Nobody is overlooking anything here...we are all aware of the glitches but it's a fun game and it plays a good game of ball. Don't hate because a few of us here are having a good time with it. 360 owners have been starved for a decent ballgame for awhile. There are a few here that have stated they love the game....i'm not willing to go that far just yet but it's the best ballgame i've played since MVP2005.

I don't want you guys to think I'm bagging on the game, because I haven't played it. I'm just trying to get an overall feeling for the game, and it's hard to do so because many of the site reviews have been harsh, while user reviews have been very mixed, albeit quite popular here. (if you take in to account those here as well as at OS).

I'm going to wait for the first patch to released before I rent this game, as I'm hoping then the game will seemingly be more polished.

SD, just an fyi, there is a patch available that fixed some franchise problems w/free agents. But I think with the living roster downloads they are slipping in patches that fix some minor things like uniform and accessories.

Lets see I went from Super fanboy, too fanboy and I've now been promoted to Developer WOW.

One I've never said that I was a dev. and nor am I one. I'm not offended to be a fan of a product, certain things I like and not ashamed to admit it. So Rodster and EG, stop spreading lies about me, EG can't handle me stating my opinion and neither could you.

So you have the Show...yet you're going to rent MLB 2K9 and then come back here and post your impressions of it which will most likely be you "baggin" on the game anyway?

Wait, you're not allowed to talk sh*t about a game that is inferior to another one? Crap. My bad. Sorry to speak negatively about 2k9. Carry on.

First of all, I could give two shits less if people over at OS are ripping the game, hell most of the NHL 09 users b*tch and complain about something in the latest patch and that game has been praised as the GOTY.

I'm a hardcore text simmer, but for console sports games, definitely a casual gamer.. with that being said, MLB 2k9 has been fun to play so far and there is NOTHING that made me throw my controller in disgust and turn the game off.

As much praise as everyone here gives The Show, why does it matter what us 360 only users think about MLB 2k9?

We all know it's NOT the show, but so far most of us are enjoying it compared to last year's disaster.

Why do you feel the need? Most of us that are playing the game already know what's wrong with it. You have a PS3...you have the Show, seems to me you just want to let us 360 owners know that you think 2K9 is crap when it's really not.
What game has the bettter pitcher and batting interface?

I'm looking forward to finding some fun and entertainment out of 2K9. That's really it, plain and simple. Nothing more, nothing less. I don't expect it to compare to The Show. I know that going in.

Isn't that what we do here? Discuss the merits of baseball games...good AND bad? Sh*t...I could have gone and started a new thread like fletch stating that 2k9 is a piece of sh*t...but that's a little ridiculous don't you think?
tjung0831 wrote:What game has the bettter pitcher and batting interface?
Do you really want to know? It's the Show. The fact that you can't throw the ball EXACTLY where you want to at all times. The fact that the AI will not swing at every single pitch in the zone. The fact that the AI will actually throw a bunch of balls, allowing you to walk consistently. I could go on. It's really not even close.

However...the controls for pitching and hitting in 2k9 are more fun, as I mentioned at the top of this page. They are definitely fun, but they don't translate to an accurate portrayal of baseball. That's where 2k9 falters.

Well, the show has lineup problems.. so it's by no means perfect. In fact, it has a pretty hefty bugs and glitches thread over at OS.

It's beautiful, I get that and it should be tight as far as game play goes.. unfortunetly MLB 2k has no identity.. it's been like a roller coaster with this game.

That being said, to say it's not fun is just an opinion.. definitely not a fact.

Geez, folks, calm down. The Fanboy Express is threatening to jump the tracks here!

Lost a heartbreaker last night to the Phillies, 4-3, with my Braves. Had the lead going into the bottom of the eighth, 3-2. Put in a closer, and got jacked with one on, and they won. Great game, great fun! I'm sure The Show is a great game, but considering this thread is a 2K9 thread, and not The Show thread, I don't really care who thinks which is better. If I do, I'll go check out the Show thread...

The Show is a good game, albeit a tad boring for me, but all in all a good game. The Show is hands down the better game, but I am really enjoying the pitcher/batter matchup of 2K9.

The Show is getting to the point NBA2K9 is at, very good, but that goodness is creating a sort of boredo, like gameplay experience. This coming from a person who LOVES NBA2K9, excellent game, but after a while, boring.
