College Hoops 2K6 Impressions thread

Bump for the revamped title. Getting the game this afternoon assuming EB gets it or I can find it. I was the only one to preorder the game which does not bode well for a fast shipment to the store.

I was at the store today and I asked for it... They said it was delayed until the 2nd - guess they were wrong as I see people on my friend's list playing.

Might double check and have them open up all their boxes. My EB store did not have CH 2K6 listed as a game arriving via a shipment but sure enough it was there. Of course if you store had no preorders they might not get any for a couple days (both Gamestops ran into that localy). I was the only preorder for all three stores which is a shame.

If you like how NBA 2K6 plays you are going to enjoy this. Playing CH with the Drive camera is what I have been looking for.

Oh the PS2 version has been delayed yet again. Ships December 1st, in stores the 2nd.

I had not played NBA 2K6, so the shot stick and other innovations are new to me - and will take a while to get used to using. But I am liking what i see so far. I liked but did not love the game last year - it was a very good game but in some ways similar to previous years and it got stale. This year feels different to me and better. The atmosphere is also much improved.

I have only played a couple of games, but so far so good. Can't wait for the 360 version to come out - maybe by then i will have a 360!

Yeah...I've resorted to picking up NCAA since I obviously won't have a 360 anytime soon. Too bad they don't have it at EB yet...I guess I'll pick it up tomorrow. Hopefully it can tide me over for a little while until I get my hands on a 360.

I have loved this game for the past few years. If they just update the rosters and tweak a couple of things, I will be happy.

I think you will be happy. If you have played NBA 2K6 you will have a good idea already what to expect.

*** For anyone who visits OS and follows the CH forum please let us know when the rosters get done. Also if you can link to the file it would be great.
I am following the other guys who make rosters and will post when they are completed. Not even touching the Legacy mode until the names are done.

A few of the training drills are quite helpful. Especially when you want to practice playing offense or defense in the low post. The fast break drill is pretty good too.

I still do not care for this years version of "isomotion" using only the R-Trigger (same as NBA 2K6) but it is nice to not have those long drawn out canned animations. Fortunately the college game is based more on passing then one on one drives to the basket. If you are not using Dual Control this is the perfect game to utilize it, bringing out your shooting guard for threes and cuts to the basket. The defensive stanse is back but it does not feel the same as it once did. At least it keeps the player shuffeling his feet instead of running around aimlessly.

One great addition is the ability to hold both triggers down after a dead ball. This brings up the ability to create substitutions w/o having to pause and go to a menu. When you do call a TO the coahes clipboard is another welcome addition for quicker changing of players, etc.

Auto Subs is still too screwey for me no matter how I set the "bench depth" slider so I am just going to take control of it myself.

I wanted to pacify my 360 woes yesterday and couldn't find this game anywhere. I need to get this before the 4 day weekend.

I must add that you should play a game with Texas A&M Corpus Christi (They are an INDEPENDENT). Midway through the first half a sub came in (#54) and this guy looked like he was going to eat all the players on the court. He was freaking HUGE. I am talking someone made a glitch and doubled this guys size HUGE. Well apparently he does exist and fills out the 7'2 380 frame listed on both the games rosters and the real one.

Sorry to hear about the little one being sick. Hope they get better soon.

Playing on All-Conference (I think it is default) and 15 minutes. There are still too many missed short ones but I am torn about which way to go. As I do each year with this basketball game. Play with sliders and raise the short shot shooting % to get higher scores or live with it and get more realistic FG %. Kind of a damned if you do damned if you don't senario for me. I will probably raise the sliders to get the scores closer to then norm. I just hate playing more then 15 minute halfs.

Damn this game was harder to find than any game in history. Went to three different EB's all of who said they had it but when I got there nobody could find it. Best Buy had 8 in stock and they had 3 guys looking for it for almost an hour. I scored it for $20 at best buy courtesy of the $10 off coupon that came in the 360 promotional dvd. All I can say is good luck finding it!
