Good point, Dan. But I only played online football against one person, my brother-in-law. And he doesn't have an Xbox anymore, so online play isn't a worry for me.Danimal wrote:PK
Do you want to play online? If so 2004 won'tr do it for you.
Racing, shooting and hockey are it for me online.
Thanks,

On overpriced videogames without value for money? You're damn right.Badgun wrote:pk's primary concern is NOT to spend any money.Danimal wrote:PK

My concern is not to pay $50 for a roster update and a game that doesn't play as well as one that's available for $5. For that, I make no apologies.
I spend money on sh*t that's important to me and that's worth the money. I have no problem dropping coin on necessary new bike parts and upgrades, for example. Between the cost of the bike and parts/upgrades, I probably have around $1,700 sunk into that bike. But then again, there's no hobby I enjoy more or do more during the non-winter months than cycling.
I spent last night tricking out and tuning my bike while watching the team time trial from the Tour. That was cool!
I'll drop $500 for a season's pass and probably another $500 or more for new ski equipment this winter, too. Again, there's no hobby I enjoy more or do more during the winter than skiing. We usually ski three or four days/nights per week from early December through mid-March.
It's all a matter of priorities. The more I save on piddly sh*t like gaming, the more I can possibly spend on cycling and skiing!
Anyways, any comparisons of NCAA 06 to the gold standard of NCAA 2004 are appreciated.
Out,
PK

PK,
To answer your question... it's a tough call.
Someone like me, who thoroughly enjoys football and am a long time fan of the NCAA franchise I'd say that there is enough of a difference.
There are new coverage audibles, defensive schemes, much better atmosphere, match-up stick etc etc. Things that all put you more into the game then NCAA 2004.
Now, if you're not into having those things then 2004 is a very good friggin game, and to date my favorite football game ever.
It's like asking me if I would know the difference between WE6 and WE8. there's not friggin way I could tell the difference between the two.
If online is not a factor and money is then I say go with 2004.

I know it's early, so this may be an unfair question, but since NCAA 2004 is considered the gold standard of EA college football games, how does NCAA 06 stack up to NCAA 2004?
PK I can't say yet. I really can't. As a college football geek I like the stuff 06 brings to the table, esp the fact that the CPU will try to run the ball. NCAA 2004, as great as it was, had a lot of gameplay issues, some of which are still in 06 and some that are not. Ill have to get back to you. 04 is clearly superior to 05 but 06, right now, is clearly better than last year too.

Bill has put way more time into it than me at this point but I feel comfortable enough to say it definitely better than NCAA 2005. Then again, getting kicked in the nuts with a steel-toed boot was better than NCAA 2005.
I had a balanced game that needed a few tweaks to the sliders on AA using Notre Dame. Notre Dame has a decent defense and a poor offense though so I'm going to try playing another game with a higher-ranked team.

PK,
If you don't want to spend 50+ bones for '06 go to Dvdplanet.com, if you preorder the purchase price is $34.97 with free shipping. Plus, if you register first they will send you a $3 off coupon code that you can apply, just make sure you go to the site and register and then wait for the coupon email.
Disregard if you have seen the dvdplanet price.

AA is definately too easy. I played USC (me) vs Miami and I scored everytime down in the first half. Miami did the same thing but I think most of that was because I am not use to the new controls yet on defense.
One nice thing this year and I think someone mentioned this here is that on defense, you have to actually make the tackle this year, not just run towards the other player. Also, the speed/switch player buttons being switched this year will take some time to get use to.

Before declaring AA too easy try using a team that isn't the top ranked team in the game. Try a middle of the road team against Miami and see if it's still too easy.Weaver2005 wrote:AA is definately too easy. I played USC (me) vs Miami and I scored everytime down in the first half.

Have you ordered things from this place before? Any problems?TheTruth wrote:PK,

I will definitely go this way if I can get some feedback on this site. I don't see how they can sell it so cheap.
Thanks.
Good point but my dynasty team is USC, so I just used another top team to test it out.ScoopBrady wrote:Before declaring AA too easy try using a team that isn't the top ranked team in the game. Well I first was weary about the new Juke controls on the analog stick but now I am beginning to really like it. There seems to be different types of jukes you can perform which is pretty neat.
Also the presentation is top notch in this game. I know gameplay matters the most but the extra touches are nice. There was a cool thing where the Miami RB did a move and the camera zoomed into him and froze for a second. I think you can turn this off but it was neat to see.
Honestly, when I first started playing, I wasnt over-whelmed by the game, but the more I play the more I am really liking it. Its not a fixed 2005 more than it is more it's own game, which is a good thing imo.

I have not ordered anything from them before. But a couple guys from OS order their DVD's from them and they say they always get their movies on release day and spoke highly of them. The free shipping is UPS 5 business day. I payed $2 more for the USPS priority (1-2 business days). My order status at the website says available to ship..so I assume they have inventory and are waiting to start shipping.Pete wrote:Have you ordered things from this place before?
