Now as a Yankee fan, I personally thought it would be a close series to go either way. But I guess you were expecting similar ridiculous 'we'll win it in three' sentiments from me as well? That's not 'baseball knowledge', that's blowhard braggadocio...sorry if Yankee fans disappointed you there.
How about this from a previous post
from Seanmac:
"Somebody has to take the favorites:
Angels over Red Sox
Yankees over Twins
Cardinals over Dodgers
Braves over Astros
Yankees over Angels
Cardinals over Braves
Yankees over Cardinals.
Everyone over the Red Sox."
How about this one from Diablo:
"I don't care how "better" anyone thinks the Red Sox are than the Yanks...an entirely new atmosphere will arrive if we have a Sox/Yanks ALCS. When was the last time the Sox beat the Yanks in a playoff series......exactly"
or from Spooky after the Twins series:
"Here come the Yankees!"
Again from Seammac:
"As a Yankees fan do I think we can lose this series? Absolutely. Boston has a good team, the Yankees have cracks, and let's face it, it's not easy to go 0-76. Am I worried? Not really. This Yankees team has earned the benefit of the doubt from me for the forseable future. I'll believe that they'll lose when the last out is recorded in the ninth inning of the deciding game. At that point, I'll tip my hat to the other team and leave it at that."
I can look for more if you would like. Just let me know.

Let's see: You don't get my razzing about your pious sense of morality but then write this:
>>>But there's safety in numbers, one person sees a bunch of people piling on Parker and figures that everybody is cool with it and they won't be called on it. Sorry, you've been called<<<
Ah, I feel the scales of justice tipping your way. This is my point, exactly. Called on what?
Uh, not a damn thing. Called in your mind, maybe, but I don't think anyone in here, including Parker, feels a sense of justice because you've "called" all of us on our good-natured razzing of Parker. It's all in fun, but I'm glad you feel you've ridden the white horse into this forum and saved Parker.
I think Parker can defend himself just fine. He really doesn't need you. Again, I don't hate Parker. Not one bit. I think he's an interesting guy who adds a lot of interesting viewpoints, some of which I agree with and some I don't, to the freak show known as the DSP Forum. And it is a freak show -- we're all freaks in some sort of way, even you, Kaz.
But back to your "calling" of us, which still makes me laugh as I type it. I guess you think any comedian who makes fun of say, John Kerry or George Bush, is out of bounds because well, that comic never has been a politician, so how can he pile on like that?
There are two ways to predict a series. Do what Fletch did, simply predicting the outcome. Or do what Parker did, predict the outcome, give all sorts of real and imagined reasons why the Yanks were sh*t, offer all sorts of excuses after Game One and Game Two and continue to think all those who underestimate the Sox as idiots.
So which one do you think is more open to some good-natured ribbing from everyone, even those who didn't make a prediction?
And since when do you have to be a Yanks' fan to rib Parker? You don't. He opened himself to this with his braggadocio, and to his credit, he's manned up and continued to post here despite the ribbing.
Again, he really doesn't need your higher "calling" of the rest of us. Parker can take care of himself just fine, and I'm glad he's here.
Take care,
PK

No prediction here, unless you infer Yankees>Angels>Red Sox. Actually, I'm not sure what to think since he had the Sox losing in the first round.krustylew wrote:How about this from a previous post

As far as I'm concerned, anybody that goes to the lengths that Parker did to outline exactly how his team was going to sweep the Yankees deserves any and all of the sh%t that can be thrown his way.
Also, as far as I remember there was no reason for the Yankees fans to predict a series win since they pretty much refuted anything Parker had to say in his prediction thread. Was there really a need for a seperate Yankee thread? I don't think so. Now let your boyfriend take his lickings, I know how much it bothers you that you're not the one doing the licking (since we're going all junior high in this thread I thought I'd join in).

You don't need a reason to be a Yankees fan. You don't have to predict a World Championship on every message board on the internet to be a fan. You don't need to make a prediction in order to get on Parker/Resin for his silly prediction. Shooting off your mouth and making predictions is crass and arrogant, and more times than not leads to foot-in-mouth disease. Parker's the only one dumb enough to do it year after year. I let Parker/Resin have it last year on SR for the same thing, last year he said that destiny told him the Red Sox would win the series, at least this year he tried to use "stats" to back up his claims as misguided as they were.seanmac31 wrote:Oh, and saying Yanks over Cards in the World Series qualifies as a prediction (and a pretty good looking prediction at the moment). It certainly implies that I expected them to win the AL.
Remember those facts:
The Yankees were the worst team in the playoffs.
Yankee hitters couldn't match up with Boston pitching.
New Yorks starters were horrid.
Boston's bats would crush Yankee pitching.
The Yankees were the laughingstock of baseball.
Pretty big words for the fan of a team that only won a wild card and then swept a mediocre Angels team.
Interesting article in today's Globe from infamous Boston homer Bob Ryan, he basically admits that he and the rest of Red Sox Nation were hoodwinked into thinking the Red Sox had a chance. Don't take it too hard Bob, Sports Illustrated and quite alot of other publications made the same mistake...counting out the 26 Time World Champions.

Clever stuff. I lived in Arlington long enough to know I would rather live here. Lubbock may not be the "greatness that is the metroplex" but they do have a college football team that will make it to a bowl this year. Not bad for a city of 200,000. How about those Ft Worth and Dallas teams? Maybe they can get Texas or Texas A&M to relocate to Arlington. You know damn well they're not showing the game in that hillbilly s***hole you live in...

Oh and Pittsburgh 24 - Dallas 20.

Might as well see if you can get the Texans to relocate also.
Can you believe the amount of Steel fans at Texas Stadium? Embarrassing, I feel like a Braves fan. That was far more embarrasing than the loss. Props to the Steelers... that kid has got a hell of an arm and touch, and the Bus rolls on.bdoughty wrote:Clever stuff. I lived in Arlington long enough to know I would rather live here. Yea I was shocked by all the terrible towels flying around Texas Stadium. The bus is slowly starting to roll again but that Staley kid is pretty darn good.
I wish we could play Dallas every week so Parcells could pump Roethlisberger up every week.
21 of 25 completetions - 193 Yards - 2 TD's and no INT's
11 straight complettions to end the game.

Steeler fans travel as much or more than any team in the league, but I was surprised that they had *that* many fans in Dallas. I was proud.Kazuya wrote:Can you believe the amount of Steel fans at Texas Stadium? Embarrassing, I feel like a Braves fan. That was far more embarrasing than the loss. No, he is just the best player period.dbdynsty25 wrote:Oh I thought Javi was going to say that David Ortiz is the best player that isn't named Barry Bonds.
No one can stop us now. We will do what no one has done in the history of baseball. Pedro tomorrow, Schilling in game 6, and Arroyo in the finale who has dominated teams on the road.
The Yankee bullpen is a depthless joke...I almost choked when the Fox announcer said theirs is deeper. There is no Yankee reliever I'd rather have in our bullpen besides Gordon and Rivera, and we own Rivera anyway. Quantrill and everyone else are bums. They should throw El Ducky in there, he would be an excellent reliever since he can't pitch effectively for more than 4 innings.

This coming from somebody that have given up yesterday, a sign of a real fan. As soon as the chips are down they give up and act like the world is coming to an end. One lucky win and everyone in New England is back on the bandwagon. If Yankee fans were like that they would have all left Yankee Stadium in the 6th inning of Game 7 in last year's ALCS. Kind of like Red Sox fans Saturday night, pouring out of the stadium.Parker wrote: No one can stop us now. We will do what no one has done in the history of baseball.
