The drop in OTP games will be an improvement, nothing more irritating than waiting for a punk that cries foul for not getting his favorite position while holding everybody else and eventually bailing out wasting everyone's time.

The online season looks great too. Looks like they took a page out of the online season Fifa series as well as FUT, along with the menus presentation where you try to move up in a division. The double KO playoffs is also a fair addition. I can tell this mode will be be of my favorites along EASHL.

This is the type of news I've been waiting to hear of more instead of the new fighting engine.

Look forward to 14.

Definitely looks great. The season and playoff modes look very cool. I hope they are implemented well. I plan on getting back into some EASHL games with you guys in the coming weeks. Its been a busy ass summer...especially the weekends. Gotta sharpen up my skills for the upcoming season!

Probably getting close to hearing about different editions of the game and what preorder bonuses are available from different stores, too.

I'm waiting for that info before doing anything.

EDIT: never mind, these have already been announced and they're not very interesting.

I had missed this trailer a few weeks ago. All good stuff in here;

Shots from the slot

When you’re taking shots from the slot, the goalie will be unable to cover the entire net.

Thing that used to annoy about the NHL was how often there were missed shots with parts of the goal wide open. Too many shots would hit the bar or flat out miss from right in front of the goal.

They artificially made the shots miss to keep stats realistic.

Nice. That's about the same timing as last year. I was kinda hoping the trailer would say what is actually in the demo though.

If the Madden Demo is any indication, hopefully it'll be a full fledged (albeit short) game.

Based from the last couple of years, the play now mode should include the SC finals 5 minutes of the third period, a HUT mode and of course the 94 classic.

According to OS, you are right on.

I thought I remember last year's demo also had free skate practice.

Skating is much more fluid.. I'm glad dekes are easier now. :)

Fighting is great.. I could see it add some coolness in a rivalry game when one of your star players gets taken out.

Presentation still the game.. I guess that will be a big focus on next gen.

Overall, I love the improvement made to skating and the hitting seems more realistic as do some of the goals I've seen.

Played one game of NHL 94 classic and came away disappointed. Didn't even play "Here come the Hawks" when I scored a goal like it did in the original NHL94. Didn't they say they were bringing back the original music as well. Basically it's just the NHL game with arcade like settings but they threw in the blue ice to make it seem legit!

I played around with it a bit. Seems pretty fun, and all those preview vids give you a pretty good idea what to expect.

Notes
-I've seen a few leaky goals, and hardly any top shelf jobs. There was too many top shelf jobs last year.

-A good forehand move is still a good deke, but goalies are tougher on breaks and poke check more when you get close to them.

-Five-hole has pretty much been closed up.

-Players definitely smarter about screening the goalie and deflecting shots. A very dangerous play now.

-Fewer big kick-out rebounds, but players (both O and D) gather those rebounds more quickly.

-Seems harder to blow by the D, which was really needed.

-New collisions look great with the checker really powering through the other player's body.

-More realistic to see players hold one another after the whistle, not that it really makes any difference to gameplay. Haven't seen a fight yet though (although I did notice you see a player skate to the box after a minor from the normal in-game camera, which is different).
