Gracious. Sorry about that. Accidentally came off like a bit of a tosser there. What I meant to imply was that the Zonda time I did is very much there to be shot at, mainly because I don't think I can go much faster now but I'm still 6 or 7 seconds off the top guys. The top guys are already the same names that crop up on every Forza leaderboard and I still can't work out how they do it.GB_Simo wrote:Now's a bad time to mention that I'm not especially good at the Zonda challenge, right? Took 3 seconds off my time just now and I'm still outside the top 5000 in the world.

Well played, Lavan!
Rod, have I broke out the Quaint English Pejorative without realising it again, or does that word travel OK? 'Tosser' is a more polite but still not entirely socially acceptable way of saying 'wanker', which, if this board's swear filter is a reliable gauge, is a word considered somewhat more offensive in my part of the world than it seems to be in yours. I suppose if you carried out such an act in a hurry, you could potentially have tjunged it, but I'd really like to disembark from that train of thought at the next station.
An example of its usage might be, "I watched Top Gear last Sunday. That Jeremy Clarkson's a bit of a tosser," which, unless I'm mistaken, drags us back on or somewhere near our original topic...

You're a very sweet man, Terry.
Played the demo yet, mate? As ever, would be very interested to hear your thoughts.

Re: Forza 4
Played one race in the Subaru with a controller. I didn't flip out over it, and didn't see that there were other things to do other than quick races, so I just kind of turned it on, turned a few laps, and turned it off. It controlled surprisingly well with a controller, though, and I managed to go 3 wide with cars and not hit anything--and they didn't hit me, either, and gave me room to operate, so that was interesting.
But I decided to avoid it until my Gamefly copy shows up in the mail.

Re: Forza 4
Are there any stores doing midnight releases of Forza 4? I have not done a midnight release of any game in a very long time, but we are deploying updates tonight so I will be working late at the office anyway. Also saw something cool posted that I did not know about regarding clubs in Forza 4. Top Gear Football sounds pretty cool as well. A couple weeks ago I was not even planning on picking this up, now I am looking for a midnight release, yikes.....
One of the new features in the game is a car club feature. What this means is that we now have in game car clubs, or "clans". With the car club feature, now you can share your garage with all the other members of your club, so you don't have to try to buy every single car in the game, you can split the cars up among members, and everyone in the club can race eachother's cars. This is nice seeing as there were cars in forza 3 that were 10 and 20 million credit cars, which was ridiculous prices in in-game money. With this new feature, you could split up those high priced cars among the members so everyone would get a chance to use those cars.
Also in the car club feature, you can have club specific paint jobs if there is someone in your club that is a good car painter and they can create paint jobs for the car club when racing as a team or participating in team events in-game, such as top gear football. Yes they've added a multiplayer game type of top gear football, just like they've done on the show in the UK.

I do know what you mean. After the MASSIVE dissapointment that was the 50 year wait for GT5, I am psyched for this puppy....This day is taking forever but Im going to patiently wait til Best Buy opens tomorrow.

Re: Forza 4
Just preordered it today. Wasn't planning on it in the slightest, but, like others, the demo sold me. I skipped Forza 3, and to be honest, one of my most looked forward to things is...painting cars. I would spend five hours at a time in Forza 2 creating paintschemes...
But I made a kickass Lightning McQueen...

I got a whopping 2 races under my belt at lunch by the time I finally rolled around to firing it up. Seemed familiar and cool all at the same time. I think the brakes are far more powerful in the lower cars with a lot more pedal range than you used to get. Cars seem to stop better, and it models the ass end getting light under braking better than it did before IMO.
I'll definitely dabble with it some more tonight, but it definitely felt like Forza. I'll also want to mess around with the Kinect stuff to see if that actually works or does anything useful.

Walked into Fry's at lunch and picked up the Collectors Edition no problem. Good ol Fry's. Will hopefully be on later tonight.

Ya well you sorta psyched me into getting the CE.DChaps wrote:Walked into Fry's at lunch and picked up the Collectors Edition no problem. Good ol Fry's. Will hopefully be on later tonight.

It does have a nice case, you get some cars and the book is cool but Im pretty sure it was not worth the extra $20. On the other hand you only live once and again it is pretty cool.
Yeah it does feel like Forza which for me is a damn good thing. Feels like Forza with even better control and a better sense of speed. Pretty cool how much control you have over your car with just the standard 360 controller. Actually its a beautiful thing.TCrouch wrote:I got a whopping 2 races under my belt at lunch by the time I finally rolled around to firing it up. Seemed familiar and cool all at the same time. Got in a little time. Pretty sweet little engine this sucker has...
I always hate starting these things, though, because I never have dreams of racing a Festiva...

Re: Forza 4
I'm a pretty big GT fanboy. No shame in admitting it. I enjoy this game a lot, but so far (3 hours) it just doesn't have "it" the same way GT has. There's a lot to like here, and I really think this is a better racer for most people compared to GT. I was hoping this game would make me forget GT, but so far it hasn't. I'll give it some more time. I really like the fact you get to pick your bonus car when you level up.

Re: Forza 4
Makes no sense to me that it doesn't have "it" as opposed to GT. At least you admit that you prefer GT--no harm in that. But to follow up "it doesn't have "it" like GT", with "I really think this is a better racer for most people compared to GT" baffles me. Games aren't for everyone, but that's a kind of funny way of putting it. I've never heard of what "it" is. You should just come out and say:fletcher21 wrote:I'm a pretty big GT fanboy. "It's not GT. I prefer GT but I'm slogging through this thing"

I really have no idea what GT would have that would make it stand out to somebody more than Forza, but I guess I've always been a Forza guy. GT feels like hopping through a bunch of menus to jump into a race against AI drones that don't race like people. In my first 2 races in F4, I had one AI car that I was pressuring overcook a corner so badly that he clipped the dirt and went into an opposite direction spin when he over-corrected. I was able to just shoot around the other side, and being able to dice with AI drivers that behave similarly to humans is pretty sweet. I guess maybe that's what you were saying about the better racer aspect, but that is where "it" begins and ends with me, and Forza has always slayed GT on the AI front.
Re: Forza 4
Yup Forza is not going to convince someone who REALLY likes the GT series and vice versa. I happen to like both but I like Forza a little more.
Re: Forza 4
As another owner of both games who doesn't own a racing wheel, I give the Forza series the nod over GT just for the fact it drives so much better with the standard controller. (IMHO of course..)
So who's creating a DSP Car Club??
