I remember my first trip to Wrigley in 1991. It was also the 1st time I ever saw people charge $20 to park . Being a bunch of broke college students, we were all freaking out. I think we eventually found some place that charged $10 (which we then bitched about the whole way home).

You have to park and ride aka take the cta train or maybe bus...... Only the newbies, the crazy or the well off park there.
About the L at Wrigley...F trying to drive there. You've got no choice at Dodger. If you don't get run off the road going into the stadium from the 110 freeway, you'll get mugged in the park that leads up to the stadium itself if you come in from the 5 and Stadium Way. Choose your poison.

I just went to a packed Dodger game today. I parked outside the stadium on Stadium Way and Elysian Park Ave. for free. Took a nice healthy walk up the hill to the stadium, enjoyed watching the Dodgers beat the Giants, then walked back to the car alongside thousands of other fans and miraculously didn't get shot, stabbed or even mugged.

Sometimes the sun shines on a dogs ass. Plus, you went as a Dodger fan, not as a visiting team's fan. AND, the Dodgers won. All things that contributed to you living to tell your story. LOL.

I kid, I kid. While it was nice to see the Sox and their newest acquisition have such a good day offensively it is a little disconcerting to see that a 14-0 game ended 15-10. The bullpen needs to improve because they can honestly contend if it does, IMO.
LOL! It was still great to be there. The Tribe did an awesome job with all of the Bob Feller tributes before the game, including this thing called the "Silent Ceremonial First Pitch". A military honor guard escorted his wife to the mound where she placed the ball on the rubber. I had never seen that before, it was very moving.
Of course, then the actual game started and the whole day went straight to hell.

I saw maybe 2 or 3 people get kicked out of the stadium. All of them were Giants fans who were continuously taunting Dodger fans and using foul language. Naturally a bunch of Giants fans have come out of the woodwork now that they have something to actually cheer about. There were plenty of them at the game and I didn't see anyone get harassed before, during, or after the game.
Just here to defend my beloved Dodger Stadium. It's not the gang infested dump DB describes and anyone who has a chance SHOULD catch a game there. It's a beautiful place to see a game. It's in one of the largest cities in the country yet once you step inside it's easy to forget that fact. Looking just past the outfield pavilion you see the lush green hills of Chavez Ravine and further off in the distance you can see the San Gabriel mountains. It's a completely unique experience.
Unfortunately there have been two violent episodes on opening day within the past few years. The one from this past week is the worst. The other one was a fight between two friends, both Dodger fans. One of them cut the other one on the arm with knife. However, incidents like these are not unique to Dodger stadium. In 2008 a man was killed at AT&T Park when someone sucker punched him in the head. He fell and hit his head on the pavement. There is a video of a pretty violent fight between Giants and Dodgers fans, also at AT&T Park. Unfortunately there are drunk macho idiots all over the place, but overall Dodger Stadium is a perfectly safe and beautiful place to watch a baseball game.
And if Fletcher21 wants to visit I would more than happy to give tips on parking and what not.

NEVER did I say Dodger stadium was a dump. I actually said the stadium was nice but the gangs (seriously, go there and start cheering for the OTHER team, you'll see what I'm talking about) and the parking detract from the experience completely. I've been to Dodger a good 50 times since 1988 and I wouldn't deal with it if I didn't love my Braves (and a few other occasional teams). I've been to a dozen or so stadiums and Dodger is near the bottom as far as the entire experience goes. The only places I've been that has been worse are Milwaukee Stadium but that was in the 80s, Miami (cuz it's a football stadium) and Oakland (also a football stadium). I'll take Wrigley, Turner, Chase (Arizona), At&t (San Fran), Minute Maid (Houston), Angel Stadium, Petco (San Diego), Coors (Colorado) and New Comisky any day.
Of course Dodger fans are biased because they are Dodger fans (but seriously, it's completely different going as a visiting fan)...nothing wrong with that. Having lived in LA for 23 years and being non-biased gives me a little perspective that Dodger fans don't have. Anyone asking about the stadium and seeing a game there can accept it or not. Nothing wrong with differing opinions.
I often take people to Dodger's Stadium when they come to visit. We don't come 'strapped' or bring a backpack full of food in-case we get trapped in the parking lot for days, but yet, everyone really digs it. Yeah, I don't go in rocking my Cardinals gear, but I wouldn't do that at ANY visiting stadium. Just not my thing & not worth the possible hassle. It only takes one fan to be an a-hole at any stadium.

For those with ipads, I bought the mlb app and it's pretty cool. In game display is attractive, easy to navigate, and video highlights get added pretty quickly. Can jump around games easily and quickly bring up streams if you have mlb.tv too. Also has condensed games from previous days too.
$15 is kinda steep, but really nicely done if you're an avid baseball fan.

The MLB at Bat app on Android can stream the games audio and video directly to your phone if you've got a MLB Extra Innings at home. You just enter your DirecTV or whatever info in the app itself and there you have it...live games wherever you go. I'm sure that's available on the iPhone/iPad stuff too...just haven't heard anyone mention it. It makes that 15 dollar charge even more appealing.

The "buy twice" deal isn't an iPhone/apple issue. It's MLB enforcing that pricing model. There's plenty of iPhone/iPad buy-once combo apps. This is just MLB "milking it". I kinda get why they do it that way as the iPad version has more/better features than the iPhone version, but it still stings a bit.

I knew it wasn't for a vast majority of things...I've had an iPhone before (of course, I have to have everything)...but that sucks that the MLB app is like that. I guess Android said that they refused to tie licenses to specific devices which is why MLB can't charge twice for it.
