OT: NBA Season 2009-2010 & Fantasy Hoops Talk

Anybody catch Donaghy on 60 Minutes last night? Pretty crazy stuff he was talking about. I actually believed him when he said he didn't let his bets influence how he reffed a game, it's just that he knew how other refs felt about certain players.
And how could you not believe it when he said the NBA does everything they can to extend playoff series?
I wonder if any heads are going to roll because of last night's interview and his book. Probably not considering Stern's "don't believe anything that FELON says" attitude.
I felt bad for Iverson. I thought it was funny when they said something like, "60 Minutes contacted Allen Iverson, but he didn't want to participate in this story." No kidding! Apparently the poor guy's in enough trouble with the refs already.

Being a Celtic fan, this is difficult to say but...if the Lakers stay motivated and away from the injury bug, I have a hard time seeing anyone knocking them off, especially in the West. They are so talented and deep. Bynum and Gasol are so good down low.
I know this probably will not be very popular here, but a Celtic/Laker finals would be fantastic this year. I have to watch the Magic a little more but I think the Celtics may be the only team to give the Lakers a run. The problem will be that any team in the East will have such a more difficult road to the Finals than the Lakers. East semi's of Celtics/Hawks, Cavs/Magic will be awesome.
So sad about Oden. Guy just cannot stay healthy.

And YES...you probably will for the rest of the season. Playing in the East has it's advantages ya know. You've got 4 good teams. The west has 10.JackB1 wrote:Hawks dismantle the lowly Chicago Bulls tonite. I remember not too long ago when ATL was on the receiving end of many nights like this.
And YES...we do have a better record than Phoenix
True. The West has been better than the East for as long as I can remember. I hope the Hawks can make it into the 3rd round this year, but that will mean beating Cleveland probably.dbdynsty25 wrote:And YES...you probably will for the rest of the season. Two Washington Wizards teammates -- three-time NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas and Javaris Crittenton -- drew guns on each other in the locker room after practice during a Christmas Eve argument over money, according to a report in the the New York Post.
The dispute ignited when Crittenton became enraged at Arenas for refusing to make good on a gambling debt, a anonymous source told the Post. When Crittenton yelled at Arenas, that prompted Arenas to draw on Crittenton, who then also grabbed for a gun, league security sources told the Post.
Arenas denied pulling a gun on Crittenton, a third-year guard out of Georgia Tech who has not played for Washington this season due to injuries. Arenas is Washington's leading scorer, averaging 22.3 points per game.
The Wizards announced on Dec. 25 that Arenas had admitted to bringing guns to the locker room and had turned them over to team security. Arenas reportedly told Wizards officials that he stored the unloaded firearms in his locker so they wouldn't be close to his kids at their home.
Arenas told the Washington Times that he moved the weapons from his home to his lock box at Verizon Center around Dec. 10 after his daughter was born.
"I decided I didn't want the guns in my house and around the kids anymore, so I took them to my lock box at Verizon Center," Arenas told the paper. "Then like a week later, I turned them over to team security and told them to hand them over to the police, because I don't want them anymore. I wouldn't have brought them to D.C. had I known the rules. After my daughter was born, I was just like, 'I don't need these anymore.'"
Arenas was previously suspended one game in 2004-05 for violating the NBA's weapons policy. Players are not permitted to carry firearms on NBA property or during business.
"The Wizards organization and Arenas promptly notified the local authorities and the NBA, [and] are cooperating fully with law enforcement during its review of this matter," the team said in its statement at the time.
Wizards GM Ernie Grunfeld declined to elaborate further to the Post, saying, "It's in the hands of [Washington] authorities."

I don't believe Arenas is from the hood.
And carrying guns is not new. I've heard that some old-school players back in the ABA days were reputed to carry guns.
Not to justify it but some athletes receive hate mail and death threats and some are able to get carry permits.
Arenas isn't associated with gansta wannabes, is he? Isn't that whole gansta rap thing passe?

There's no excuse for their thug behavior. Get in an argument with someone at work and try that junk.wco81 wrote:I don't believe Arenas is from the hood.

Yeah, if the season ended today it might be another Cavs/Hawks second-round matchup (1-seed vs. 4-seed). The Hawks are going to be a tougher out than last year, that's for sure. Even though the Cavs beat them twice in 24 hours a couple weeks ago, they were tough wins. I was at the one in Cleveland, it had a playoff atmosphere.
I actually thought the Hawks should have won both those games. Didn't they blow a big lead in one of them? I reemember the first one in Clev. when they held Lebron to like 15 or something. Jamal Crawford makes a big difference IMO. It makes it so teams can't just key on shutting down Joe Johnson. I hope we get to play Boston somewhere in the post season. Hawks seem to have their number this year and its becoming a great rivalry.lexbur wrote:Yeah, if the season ended today it might be another Cavs/Hawks second-round matchup (1-seed vs. 4-seed). The first game was in Atlanta, they held LeBron to 14, Cavs won in a close, defensive struggle. The second game in Cleveland the Hawks had a big lead the whole game, but the Cavs came back and won. LeBron had 48 but it was Varejao's first (and still his only) career three-pointer late in the game that was the dagger. The place went NUTS!!!!JackB1 wrote:

Varejaos' having his best year yet. He leads the league in +/-. He's always hustling.
