There are a hundreds of hardcore Pro Evo players at PESFan who would disagree with you on this point. The so called "God mode" in Pro Evo/WE games always makes for a heated debate.

Well, I believe there was catch up logic in 6 and 7 but it was addressed in 8 and I haven't seen it in 9 either.

So? I've played the last three iterations a TON on my PC and I have never felt cheated in any way. If someone disagrees, so be it. I really couldn't care less.

I agree with ya DB i've played and still own WE6, WE7 and WE8 and I have never once felt it cheated or used catch up logic. Now Fifa games might be a different story.

I never felt it was catch up AI in WE8.

The immeadiate equalizing goals both happened in the first half which is why I even brought it up at all...It is probably just coincidence but I do want to know what everyone else sees or thinks.

This is the purpose of this thread no?

I played another 4 games last night, and I was worse than opening night. it was really hard on 3*. One of my main problems is I try to play it like WE8 rather than this new game.

It seems I turn it over all the time and the cpu makes pinpoint passes all over the place. it also seems the cpu's forwards can break thru my backline like it's no problem, but I can't even keep a lead on cpu's defenders if I have owen.

One thing I loved: I fouled a guy about 25 yards away from my goal. in we8, I could do this with no regrets. maybe 1 in 100 went in. Last night, boom goes the dynamite and I lose 1-0. I guess I'll be more careful, but that's more realistic anyway.

Vanburen: Ya the addition of a lot of fouls, some ticky-tac are great in my book.

Well after a day of playing, I'm going to say this... either after all the years of playing WE I'm better against the AI or the AI has taken a step back this year. Last night played Inter v Juventus and won the game 2-0. I had 4 shots they had 3 on 15 minute halves. I had 58 percent of the possession. I know I'm Italian teams but it shouldn't be this bad.

Before that I played Arsenal v Chelsea. Chelsea plays had a ton of blue arrows. The ones that face "south-east". I beat them 4-1 with a late goal by the CPU. I was pretty much able to repel all offensive attacks all game long.

I'm just finding the game too easy. I said what the hell, maybe I'm wrong about the difficulty levels so I put in down to three stars. I can dribble circles around the CPU on 3 and 4 stars. Now I'm no wizard with the controls. I'm sure if I played some of you cats, like Macca, Squid, DaveT I would get scored on more times the Paris Hilton. I'm finding the CPU AI easier this go around. I'm able to control possession much more easier and the CPU attack is terrible. Sometimes they should just fire the ball in instead that pass it back and reset.

I don't know I'm not all the in to WE this year so that could be it. But I really didn't expect to find a lack of offense in this year's game.

Played more online (PS2) this morning, I'm lovin' it. No lag in the games I played and a lot of fun.

I really like the online rankings and divisions thing, I think its a smart idea. Does anyone know whether or not you get MORE points if you beat someone ranked above you? Just wondering cause some guys have already played an insane number of matches.

Anyway, anyone online with the PS2 version look for me - I'll be online in and out during the day, add me to your friends list;

Okay, off to get a USB keyboard!

I was just pointing out that opinions differ on this subject, not claiming that they're right and you're wrong. Don't be so aggro, mate.

Personally, I'm in two minds about the God mode issue. I understand and agree that the computer should play differently and try harder to score when you have just taken the lead. I'm fine with that. But I'm sure there have been occasions where my own players have become harder to control and much more prone to making errors when the computer needs a goal.

I had one of those frustrating and yet still fun moments last night when Raul and Ronaldo both hit the post on the same sequence.

Im seeing something new almost every game.

Definately a blast to play.

I love the fact that passes are far less accurate this year. Ratings have more of an impact as they should.

Besides the ball being more lively, I believe they've created a better momentum model for the players as well.

Played Celtic v. Rangers in the snow (new feature). Pretty neat looking. A special orange ball was used.

Gameplay is definitely tweaked from WE8--seems even more challenging. I played WE8 on 5-star from almost the beginning, but I'm playing WE9 on 2-star and having trouble scoring. I beat Rangers 1-0 with Celtic. Then lost 1-0 to Lazio using Roma--Totti hit the crossbar and Cassano sailed one over the top from about 8 yards out.

FUN. That's the best impression I can give...

I don't give a lick about s.american teams, but I wish there were MLS or at least I could find an option file someone did with MLS teams.

can't believe jrod is smoking this version. if this week is truly the first time playing, that's amazing. don't a lot of people play imports of pes5 or a jap version?

I don't, so this really is new. and it's hard, but I can already tell I'm improving.

I have 4 wins and a draw so far on 5 stars but I got the PSP version of PES 5 in early December and that version's so hard it's prepared me for WE9.

Yeah...PES3 was the only version of the game I made it to 5 stars in. In PES4 I was up to 4 stars and now in PES5 I'm playing 3 star and having a difficult time coming to grips with it. JRod must just be a stud...although if he's as good at video game soccer as he is with his message postings, then I'd doubt it. (see Spooky's sig. for the proof).

This game is hard. I even went down to 2 stars and still can't score.

I do like how you can create your own team in the master leauge. It's a pretty neat mode I wish more sports games had.

Can I get help with :

1.Knowing how to score
2.Getting the ball away from the opponent without commiting a foul?

1. Create some space near the edge of the area with dribbling or short passes and fire off a shot. Shots are very fast in PES 5 so the goalies often have no chance to stop one if it's not straight at them.

2. Best way to is to bring pressure with a second player (Square for PS2, X for Xbox) and manually control your player so he cuts off the computer player's passing options.

Well I got my rental PS2 copy of WE9 and I like it better than PES5 for the PC. It seems as though the controls on the PC aren't as precise (maybe it's the PS2 > USB adapter I'm using) and it's a lot more deliberate. The game just seems like it's being played in mud on the PC and it's a lot faster on the PS2. I don't know why or how that's possible seeing as though it's essentially the same game...but I reckon I'm going to stick with the PS2 version...especially since the option file I've got gives me all of the kits/boots/teams/stadiums just like the PC version. Plus I can sit in my recliner instead of my desk chair, lol. Sure, it doesn't look nearly as good, but it's definitely acceptable.

I'm so jealous that the PS2 version of WE9 already has a way to use PES 5 Option files and the Xbox version doesn't. But good for you PS2 guys. :)

Anyone else noticed that Trevor Brooking sounds retarded when he Says "Winning Eleven 9" on the title screen? Peter Brackley sounds normal saying it.

Yeah it's pretty freakin' cool. Plus the game was essentially designed for the PS2 Dual Shock so I'm very happy with that version. I'm sure everyone will figure out how to get the Xbox option file working as well...it's just a matter of time.

I have to laugh when I read the WE9 Xbox manual and see all the instructions for pressing X and BLACK at the same time. They make it sound so simple. Konami must realize this is almost impossible to do comfortably, but they just don't care, hehe.

Another impression I have of WE9 is that the manual is smaller and not as nicely laid out as the WE8I manual. There's less pictures, and more text crammed in to fewer pages. And both WE manuals are black and white unlike the full colour PES 5 manual for my PSP version of the game.
