All the Rockies need is a split.

I'm going to give you three reasons this series goes to the Red Sox:

1) You-Baldo
2) Josh Fogg
3) Aaron Cook

No chance these guys can hold down a lineup like the Sox have, especially when you consider the BB/IP ratio with Ubaldo and Fogg. I think the Rockies will score runs, but they're going to give up more. They swept a D-Backs team who was dead last in hitting in the national league this year and while the Phils led the league in HR's, they just don't have the discipline of a team like the Red Sox.

I love good baseball and i would love to see 6 great games the rest of the way, but i feel this one could end in Colorado with the Sox being World Champs.

Beckett is so tough right now, it's almost like you should concede the two games when he starts, run you third or fourth starter out there against him, and save your number one starter to go up against Schilling. I think they'd have a better chance at getting a split in the first two games doing that.

But I don't know, with that Red Sox lineup, it probably doesn't matter.

Jimenez has got his stuff working well tonight, that breaking ball is vicious. Routinely hitting 98mph with his FB too. Although as I write this he has Ortiz on 2nd, Manny on 1st and Lowell at the plate... This is a great game so far.

*edit*

Lowell gets on and knocks in Ortiz... goodbye Jimenez. He did his job though as the Rockies are still in this game.

Well, not a blowout by any means, but fundamental errors killed any momentum COL had. Holliday had a great night but to get caught napping in 1st base when you're not even a base stealer? The bullpen for Bosox did the job.

And he was out by a mile too, not even a close play by any means. Colorado couldn't afford to lose after the performance that Jimenez gave them. It's good to see Herges pitching well in teh post season too, it was a shame when the Padres let him go a while back.

I understand Matt's reasoning, but damn man you gotta give Todd a chance to swing the bat in that situation.

I really felt that Colorado had a good chance of hitting Kurt last night and they didn't get it done. Now I've got to cross my fingers and hope that we can at least make a series out of it.

Well color me impressed with Ubaldo "Nuke Laluche" Jimenez. While the Sox patience paid off eventually in the sense of building pitch count, this kids stuff is flat out filthy. Apodaca's advice was perfect for him in repeating that all he needs to do is stay in the zone. When/If he can do that he'll be terrific. Still, he gave them every chance to win but Schil, Okajima and Pap were just a little better.

I hope the rest of the games are as good. That was a solid baseball game last night.

Game 3 starts in a couple hours, Dice-K v. Josh Fogg in Colorado. Anyone watching?

I'll be watching... having a good time with this series. In part because I love seeing Fenway. Tonight it'll be fun to watch Manny play left in Coors and Ortiz play 1st. I think the Rockies could get right back in this thing, and at least make it go six.

Clearly, COL's bullpen cannot match BOS in any shape or form. They made it interesting at 6-5 but their bullpen crumbled again. Gotta give credit to the Rockies fans who never stopped cheering even when he game was 6-0, and most of them stayed until the end of the game.

And hey, D. Ortiz can play 1st base too, not just a DH.

I think the red sox are the new yankees, where you want anyone to beat them. I am sick of them but I know it's most of the media hype's fault. You thought there were so many bandwagon redsox fans after 04, just wait now.

If Manny, Ortiz or Lowell have a bad game the rockies have a chance right? Wrong, not when they have two rookies named Pedrioa and Ellsbury who basically single handedly gave the rockies yet another embarrassing defeat, this time at home. Not a bad game though until the eighth inning.

Congrats to the Red Sox. This series reminded me of the 98' series between the Padres and Yankees where the Pads were swept outright and never really gave the Yanks any kind of a scare throughout the whole thing. It's a shame the rockies couldn't get one game but that was a Boston team on a mission. Still an impressive run by the Rockies to make it in though with that crazy win streak.

Congrats to the BoSox! Great series for them. Make no mistake about it, they outclassed the Rockies from the very first pitch.

Still a great ride and a lot of fun to be here in Denver to experience it. Already looking forward to next season.

I'm just glad that Todd had a chance to play in the post season. It didn't finish the way he would have like, but I bet any amount of money that he's very greatful for every minute of it.
