I can't speak for the PC, but on the 360 in CQ I've never seen the jets used as a productive means to winning the game.

They do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING in the way of the objectives other than to pull people out of trying to capture the control points. They serve no purpose. I get pissed when see a couple of jets and an helicopter form my team up in the air. It doesn't take a lot of analysis skills to figure out that you're about to get your ass handed to you.
I don't agree with you but I see where you are coming from.

They provide air cover and they are also easily countered with an engineer leveled up a little bit, a person on your team in a jet to fly CAP or a competent person on the mobile AA. The problem is most idiots use the mobile AA as another tank and take the planes and fly them and crash them into things while jumping out. If your team is not smart enough to use it's planes to counter the enemy air support then you need to find a new team. The transport helicopter can insert a team quickly at far capture points if used correctly as well. The bottom line is mot people don't use these things as they should. It will be interesting to see if the BF servers play style changes this week with MW3 out.

Also you can (at least on the PC) search for and join an infantry only server which will eliminate the vehicles.
I think there's a divide here between PC and console.

On console, with shrunken maps I believe the mobile AA units have been taken out of the game.

Also, with a max team size of 12, a few people in aircraft leaves very few infantry (8 or less) to fight for 4 objectives.

In all my games I have seen one jet pilot take out a few tanks, but otherwise the jets just cruise around shooting each other, essentially having no effect on the objectives.

I think that's an excellent point and I didn't even consider it. Yes the maps are larger on the PC which makes them more useful.

This is almost exclusively why I will probably stick with BF3 on the PC and sell my 360 copy. Then if I really want to play a shooter, I'll have MW3 for the 360. I just like the tanks/planes/choppers on the PC so much better. They seem to be a lot more useful. Plus I'm a hellova lot more accurate on a PC. :)

Apparently there is a mobile AA for console only on Noshahr Canals on Rush. And can you even move that unit?

On PC it is many other maps and in CQ mode.

There are a couple of AA batteries, but not many. They aren't mobile and nobody's ever flown withing a quarter-mile of one when I was trying them out.

Nohshar does have a mobile AA, and it is, indeed, very mobile, because I've brought down a few helos with it. As far as the other maps, I don't use the non-tanks all that much, so I don't know.

I love the Karkand map in Battlefield Play4Free, which is surprisingly fun and decent for a free EA game. It's based on the Battlefield 2 engine and game.

AND I have to say that I've seen the planes used to great effect in capturing points, ground kills, and all that. It's not easy, but it's definitely done on consoles, and those who do it well ABSOLUTELY INFURIATE those of us who don't... :D

"We Vikings get shot in the head all of the time."

I laughed throughout the whole thing. It's also ridiculous that you can slap a scope on a shotgun and kill that way.

I have been trying out support and been getting killed. I need to go back to the short-bus class of engineer so I can have my explosives back.

Towards the end he says his teammate he shot at should've died because it was hardcore mode. I suspect on normal mode sniping with a shotgun would be a waste of time.

Played some Domination on MW3, got frustrated after a bit, then put in BF3 and played conquest.

It's not even close. BF3 owns that type of gameplay. What I'm seeing now is that MW3 is the popular kid in class...but BF3 is the cooler teacher. BF feels more 'grown up'. I'll play MW3 for shits and giggles (or for throwing s*** and cussing, more likely), but BF3 is my go to for the foreseeable future.

I haven't played MW3 yet but played a lot of Domination in MW2. I like Conquest in BF3 but it can be frustrating for someone like me trying to learn the nature of playing BF. I trudge across the map, get killed, and have to trudge back. The faster nature of MW makes it easier to get back into the action after making a mistake. I don't have an issue with camping as it is a viable strategy, but it's really easy to camp in BF and that compounds the trudge/die/trudge nature of Conquest.

Admittedly, I do suck, but at the same time I'm finding it difficult to get better.
