I'm not a cards hater but if they make the WS what a disappointment for Selig and the baseball brass, which is a good thing. The cards earned everything but I'm sure Selig and crew would have loved to see NY and PHI.

You realize either STL or MIL was going to go to the world series at this point, right? If the cards don't go, it would still not be NY or Philly.

If MLB was bummed, it would have been about 10 days ago.

Congrats to the Cards....

Talk about out-managing the other team! Tony pushed all the right buttons and used his bullpen perfectly. While I liked the Brewers and wanted all the best for their fan base, I'm happier to see the Cards go in - they just play the game the right way. Milwaukee's fielding was horrid. Looking forward to the WS - don't really have a personal favorite...just want to see a well fought series.

I remember watching N. Cruz when he was in the farm team here playing for the Vancouver Canadians. Solid player, a sweet swing, has he ever been clutch for the Rangers in this playoffs.

Yeah, there will not be a lot of small ball this week. I think it will be interesting to see the Cardinals line-up in Texas, where they can get Allen Craig in with Pujols, Holliday, and Berkman. I think Texas is going to suffer some without the DH in St. Louis, too.

But it will mainly come down to a battle of the bullpens, I suspect.

Going to be a tough series. Texas might not have the starters like Philly but they sure have more thunder in their lineup than the Brewers or Philadelphia.

Temps in the 40s and some rain perhaps......just nasty here.

This will be a hard fought series, but gotta go with my Cardinals in 7 games. Home field will be the difference I think.

Here's hoping to WC #11!!!

Good point about the balance of our lineup. I haven't watched enough Rangers game to make a judgement, but it does
seem like they were swinging for the fences while the Cards hitters were playing more fundamental baseball. Now, the Rangers
could win the next four and just destroy our weak pitching.

Now the question becomes which Jamie Garcia shows up against this stacked Rangers lineup?

It was great game tonight.

But Texas can run and play small ball. I think they have plenty of balance in their line-up. Basically, Texas and St. Louis are really similar. I think the main advantage will be the Cards facing those lefties, and with Craig in the line-up in Arlington. I just don't think the road games are near the advantage for Texas as the games will be here, especially if the weather stays cold tomorrow night.

I feel like the Cards really needed to win Carp's start to take control of the series. So that was mission accomplished.

Gotta think Fox is extremely disappointed with the matchup. When you hear "coming up tomorrow Jaime Garcia and Colby Lewis" it doesnt exactly put asses in the seats.

Chicks dig the longball. perfect. great win (again by STL). I have a number of fam & friends who are on the "LaRussa Sucks" team for a couple years now. Hard to stay on that viewpoint these days. Love it.

It is truly bizarre how may St. Louis fans hate La Russa. Before this post-season, I saw a stat in which Tony has won 51 (58 now) post-season games since he came to St. Louis. The other four NL Central teams combined had won 26 (31 now). Yet for some reason, fans think they deserve better.

He's money in the postseason.. but I'm still not a big fan of LaRussa.

I just think he over manages too much and sticks with veterans too much, Motte should have been the closer a long time ago.

I do admire his love of basball though.

Tony LaRussa is a complete tool but you can't argue with the results he gets. How can anybody?

He gets to the World Series and the elusive Quaddafi is found and killed. Coincidence? I think not. He probably called in the dictator's location during the 7th inning stretch.
