No problem PK, since while I was grabbing that the other night I also downloaded 3 VERY cool mods for it, all are at
http://www.rfactorcentral.com.
First is a Porsche Fabcar mod, which is based on the Porsche car that runs in the Rolex Grand American Daytona Prototype series (my favorite as you know!) Fantastic car details with excellent cockpits, and physics were supposedly designed after talking to a few of the engineers on the #58 team. A couple of the paintjobs are replica's of actual DP cars, hopefully someone will fill out the rest of the field. Still there are about 20 different cars in the set. The cars are pretty easy to drive, although the AI was kicking my tail at Long Beach so finding speed might be work.
The next 2 mods aren't cars at all, but add to the presentation.
First is a TV style display, which will bring up F1 inspired stats on the screen during a race. You can make it look like the current F1 setup or an older one. All the information you see is customizable, including where you can position it on the screen. I'm using the defaults and they so far have been out of the way of other needed info.
The other presentation mod is called simply the Spotter Plugin, and it is awesome. It adds a spoter that gives you a ton of information, including when guys wreck, when cars are coming up on you fast for example if you are reentering the track after a spin, when to pit, when you have a blue flag, cautions, the works. It also gives you words of encouragement if you need them, either that you're doing good and gaining on the car ahead, or to get a move on because the car behind is gaining; also reminders to be careful on the first corner with your cold tires! There seem to be several sound clips for each situation, so once he may say "great job thats your fasted lap yet!" and the next time say "way to keep pushing you just set your fastest lap". Also, the spotter will let you know when you have damage, and wether it is minor, or will effect your areo, or handling, etc.
I didn't mess with it, but it also has a module where you enter the track you are going to race on, and as long as you leave it running it will give accurate fuel load reports.
I actually have the AI running my car on my other PC while I type this, and my spotter just said "Keep it up, you're running ninth", then a few turns later "Keep pushing, stay close to him!", then "You just set the fastest lap, excellent job, congratulations!" Very cool.
Both were easy to set up and offer lots of customization. There is no performance hit that I can detect by using them. These 3 mods are must have's for any of you rFactor guys.
