Shut the lights off, put on some headphones, and ignore 'em! I'd be on tonight, but I have to work til after midnight tonight, so it'll have to wait...dammit... :D
Turned 'em off early and joined Fifa for some Conquest :). My shot of the night was a snipe from a cliff. Took out two guys in a chopper. Awesome.

Fun stuff again, Diablo.

I had way too much fun handing out land mines for Halloween :)

Nothing like getting double kills from the other side of the map!!

Anyone else find the Sniper class is now too underpowered?

Apparently EA made a decision to lessen the impact of the Sniper class as they were a tad overpowered in previous games. Gone now are the one shot kills (unless it's a no question head shot). And the aim/range of the rifles are way different.

Personally, I think they took it too far. The aiming is much more difficult (even when using the hold breath button) and the range/accuracy seems off. And now with no secondary weapon for destroying vehicles it seems like the weakest class. Kind of a bummer.

Here's a post from some random on Yahoo Answers that I agree with:

"Someone in the company paid too much attention to the whining of the blow and go's. Since there are a lot of us who enjoy the sniping as it was in B2 and since we pay as much to play as everybody else I would hope we raise a big enough stink to get them to change it. Yes the prone position and larger areas in B3 gave us new advantages but they over compensated for that. I think the scope flash is a fair trade off. The drift is way overboard as anyone who couldn't hold a rifle steadier than that would not be a sniper in the first place and a sniper rifle that doesn't kill with a good hit is just stupid. If EA had such a problem with us they should have just removed the class in B3."

I always been completely useless with snipers, but it did seem to me the other night and could get some long range kills with the machine gun class. Particularly when it's in a bipod.

Maybe if you want to play long range the support class is the way to go.

I've played sniper a bit more than usual this year. It's definitely under-powered now, but I as hoping that it would improve with better rifles.

Been thinking about this game and COD of course. The only thing I never liked about Battlefield was the lack of a "deathmatch" or "Free for all" mode. Now I know you BF diehards might think it's lame or tell me to go play Call of Duty if I want that.

The vehicles and destructible environments though appeal to me, so I'm wondering if a free for all type mode is in this game?

Yes, last night was not DSP's finest hour.

We need to coordinate classes better, keep better squad cohesion and talk to each other more. We had at least 4 ENG almost every game, which is death when there's no support guy to keep them supplied. That team that bludgeoned us was good, but not freakishly so (I've played games where you couldn't stay alive for 30 seconds through a whole map). They were very well organized though, so they methodically focused their attacks. After that's it's a simple numbers game.

It's too easy to get wrapped up with the vehicle on vehicle action and lose site of the objectives. I'm very guilty of this and that team really showed how to do it right. Get the vehicles to the objectives and stay there.

That last map was another thing altogether, though. I don't know how you're supposed to get through that narrow valley with no armor and no real cover.

I was just reading about the Back to Karkand DLC. Evidently it's not just a map pack. There will be new vehicles, weapons and game modes. :)

Ok, a question. Now admittedly, I suck. However i am also clearly missing something I think. How do I rack up better point totals? I'm on the ground usually as I'm useless in vehicles, I play conquest and usually grab a flag or two, get some kills each round, and I'm watching guys rack up 2000-3000+ points while I struggle through with 400-1000. After about 7 hours of play time I'm still just at level 4. Any advice....other than the obvious of "get better"?

My k/d is not very good at all, around .6, but I can get in the 2000s on random public Conquest games by focusing on flag capture. Granted, unlike CoD's Domination mode, dying actually hurts your team, but I offset that a bit by helping maintain flag control, which is way easier to do in BF3 than it is in Black Ops. A lot of times teams don't really defend markers, especially on the bigger maps, and the ability to capture flags without being right on top of the spot often allows you to find good cover and get the flag.

Capturing flags can bring you 450 points. Reviving guys is another great way of racking up points real fast. Just go to operation Metro and keep your
Paddles ready. You'll be reviving guys by the boat load.

Don't forget giving attack objective. It may not seem like much at 20 points but if you throw out 20-30 a game in Conquest you'll make some nice change. Also being an engineer and the MG on a tank is a nice way to make up points especially if you know the person driving and can communicate.

After the dismal experience that was Rush tonight I jumped into some Conquest and it felt good to be able to spawn and not die within 10 seconds.

Yeah, I suck too much to play random Rush. That requires a lot more teamwork and communication, whereas Conquest is a lot more like Black Ops -- communication helps but you can be effective with randoms if you're careful.

Rob has mentioned this, but I really wish you could practice flying the choppers and jets. Had my first taste of flying a jet the other day and loved it, but I was so ineffective at it.

What they need to do with Rush is confine the defenders into the AO. This will prevent them from moving up and camping the spawn points and maintain the integrity of what the mode is suppose to be about. Maybe it was bad luck but every game I played of Rush thus far the defenders go camp the spawn points to rack up kills for their stats and don't care about defending the objective.

As Rob said last night you can run around them and go get the objective but it really takes the fun out of the mode. I'll personally stay away from Rush on my own until some changes are made. There should also be a penalty for flying a Jet of Copter into a tank, start taking points sway for that or make the respawn time for doing that a minute and you wiould fix that problem.

I'm all for 'forcing' players to play the game the way it was intended, too. Just like the attackers can't go but so far beyond the zone they are attacking to keep them from camping in the next zone, defenders should have a DMZ to keep them from going right up to the spawn point and mowing attackers down. Snipers trying to take out guys as soon as they begin should hit nothing but air and an invisible wall. That bullcrap just irritated the mess out of me last night. Sure, you can go around them and get to the points...if you can survive long enough to get there. Being shot out of the water, when you can't defend yourself, is just the height of worthless, and I'm looking very forward to the CoD punks getting their fix next week, and getting the hell outta this game. This is NOT CoD, shouldn't be compared to CoD, and shouldn't be PLAYED like CoD. CoD is a good game, I'm not knocking it, but the doofs who ruin BF3 by worrying more about kill streaks rather than teamwork and objectives? Yep, THEM I'll knock... Oh, and the kamikaze pilot thing absolutely needs to be reversed. You do that crap, and you lose a kill point, and sit in the lobby for at least 60 seconds.

Allowing them onto the carrier on the island map is definitely ridiculous.

I've never seen anyone do it, but what's the big deal about kamikaze pilots? Of all the crazy stuff that happen in these games, why is sacrificing a vehicle for your team to take out a vehicle on the other team so bad?

Because it wasn't 'for his team', it was for his damned kill count, and they did it repeatedly. Maybe once, but not repeatedly.
