The spotter is pretty cool. Doesn't talk your ear off, but will let you know when guys are near you on the ovals. On road courses, he'll rattle off your lap times as you cross the line. I like it.
I was considering doing the GPL league with you guys, but after installing it the sound is totally crazy on my PC, and it drives me bonkers. I'll wait for an rFactor league!
I have been playing GTR2 a lot lately. I snagged the Australian V8 Supercar mod and all the tracks for it, and it is very well done and a total hoot to drive. AI can be a bit aggrssive though, so they tend to take each other out more than the regular game, although thats not all that uncommon for the real V8 guys. I also grabbed a bunch of other tracks for it, the Watkins Glen one is great, and the Daytona road course is very cool too.

I will be glad to e-mail you all the sounds I use. I use different ones from the default GPL 2004 Demo and I think they are pretty good. However, sound preference is very much an individual issue. There are literally hundreds of GPL sound options out there.Gurantsu wrote:I was considering doing the GPL league with you guys, but after installing it the sound is totally crazy on my PC, and it drives me bonkers. If you are having the same sound issues as me (distorted, scratchy sounds) then you need to disable hardware acceleration under the sound section of dxdiag. It cleared the sound up perfect. I just have to remember to re-enable it when I switch to something else.Gurantsu wrote:I think my sound problem is more hardware than software, but I'll give your sounds a shot anyway. I'm PM my e-mail to you.
The Pits Stock Car Championship v1.0 has been released for rFactor.
http://www.thepits.us/board/viewtopic.php?t=8621
http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=TPSCC
Comes with a 2006 Nextel Cup and 2006 Busch high-res and low-res carsets, and first tracks released include Daytona, Atlanta, California, Las Vegas, and Bristol.
This is the mod that the physics were made by Brian Ring, famous for the quote from Dale Jr. where he stated he and Truex were practicing for Talladega using Brian Ring tracks and setups in NR2003.
So far it is receiving very favorable reviews.

Piggy:
I'm not sure of the deal, but when I tried to see the image in both of your PM's and the post above, I saw the above image instead.
Sorry.
Take care,
PK

We get some New Zealand Porsche Cup racing coverage on Motors TV here, and every time I see that car I think of PK. It's beginning to alarm me.
Tis that. A type 996, to be precise. I think the Supercup runs the 997 these days.pk500 wrote:Hey, that's FAR OUT, Piggy! Is that a Porsche Supercup car, a 911 GT3?

Fellas,
Last Friday my sister switched the PC off at the wall socket before it had finished shutting down and caused Windows to throw a hissy fit so dramatic that I've had to reinstall the sodding thing. Upon trying to access my old rFactor directory, I found that the game was there but needed me to renew the licence, and my mods were all there but needed reinstalling.
So far, so what, I know. When I've renewed the licence, though, and gone to test the game out, I can only race at Toban or Mills. All of the other tracks included in the install are gone. I've tried rFactor Central and they aren't there, being ISI tracks from the original install - how do I get them back, and am I missing something very obvious?

Played GTR2 for the first time...holy hell, this game if fun and I've only put in about an hour and only with a Viper running around the Donnington GP course. I'm also pleasantly surprised at how well the XB360 controller works in the game after the disaster it was trying to play NASCAR 2003 (Mac version) last weekend.

Virtua-LM has released Le Mans track 1972-1986 layout for rFactor. This track has been two years in the making and is already receiving rave reviews. File Planet right now seems to be the best bet for downloads. Main page is at:

I just installed the 1991 Season and it's amazing as well. I takes me back to when I was playing Microprose World Circuit back in '92 expect it looks 1000 times better and it's in 3D.
Enjoy

This is one of the best-looking fictitious cars for the new Car of Tomorrow mod for NR 2003 that I've seen:

The mod is damn fun, too.

Figured you Xbox 360 owners would dig this fictitious ride for the COT mod, too:
