Guarantee he will disappoint you. Having watched him for two years, the guy just isn't that good. He's got all of the physical aspects down (height, weight, strength, speed), but for some reason it just doesn't translate to the field. Sure, the Canes QB play could have had a little bit to do with it, but he just isn't even close to the other Cane TEs (Shockey, Franks, Winslow) in terms of playmaking on the field.

Zack Miller who just went to the Raiders at 38 will be a more productive guy in my opinion.

Like the Beck pick...still think Ginn was too early...but I'm not THAT pissed anymore since the QB I wanted fell into their lap.

Yeah, but you don't take a return man with the #9 pick. If he was gonna be a legit #2 wide receiver that's one thing, but he's not at this point. He may, but still, he was drafted too high. I still reserve the right to change that opinion after he takes his first kickoff/punt to the house.

First of all, no pinching unless you buy me dinner first. I'm not that easy.

I like the Olson pick at all. I was talking with some friends this a.m. and saying that I'd love if they took him, but was certain Angelo had other plans.

DB I take your comments to heart, and those are concerns. But you are right about the 'canes QB's. Grossman may not be MUCH better, but he should be somewhat better :) All of the evaluations I've read have basically said that he's virtually a perfect pass-catching TE but well short in the blocking dept. That's a profile I can live with. And having seen what Ron Turner did with mediocre TE's at Illinois, I'm optimistic.

I was a little surprised at the second round pick. They do need defensive depth, but DE was the least-pressing need, I think. I'm guessing they didn't expect Bazuin to be there, so it was a "we have to take him" situation.

I'd really like to see them go OL with at least one of their next couple picks. Given the age of their line, I don't think you can possibly have enough depth behind those guys.

As a Colts fan, I give the Patriots an F- for their offseason/draft. 8O

Man, they've really added some talent to both sides of the ball. I don't think Moss is that close to the player he was at his peak with the Vikings, but a motivated Moss can probably still be one hell of a player.

Vick in the middle of some strange s*** yet again: http://www.nfl.com/teams/story/ATL/10153656

WTF? This loser just needs to be booted out of the league. Now we know why Marcus is so f'ed up.

If Vick really is involved in making dogs fight each other to the death I hope he gets Theismann-like injuries to both legs in his first game this season.

I really like the whole draft so far. We've been starving for a TE that can stretch the field and now we finally drafted one. You can never go wrong drafting any O or D-lineman so the Bazuin pick is nice. Particularly with Tank facing a probable 8-game suspension when he gets out of the clink. They drafted an O-lineman today and a LB because of the Briggs situation. They added a safety and a corner today because of Mike Brown's uncertainty and the probability of letting go of Vasher (possibly Tillman but I think he's the better corner) due to the money he'll command. My favorite pick, outside of Olsen, is Garrett Wolfe. If they can utilize him like the Saints are utilizing Bush this kid can do some things. He may be small but he tore up a lot of big-time colleges in his career. He's not an every-down back but he's one hell of a weapon. Turner and Grossman have some new toys. :D

Bears had a much better draft than I thought they would. They got an instant starter in Olsen, a nice DE in Dan Bauzuin, and some great value in rounds 4-5, especially Josh Beekman in round 4. I'm not sure about taking Garrett Wolfe in the third round. He's a great player and a great third-down back, but it just seemed to high for him. But overall pretty good.

New England definitely did well with their picks and trades, and I like what the Browns did in round 1 with drafting Johnson and trading for Quinn.

Yeah, I LOVE what the Browns did!

It's funny, in the weeks leading up to the draft the Browns were in a no-win situation. There was so much heated debate around here over who they should take, Thomas, Quinn or Peterson. Which meant no matter who they took, at least two-thirds of the fans were gonna be really p*ssed.

But when they scored BOTH Thomas AND Quinn... WOW!!! Now everybody's happy!

I thought mathematically, there would still be 1/3 of the Browns fans being pissed off.

HA! But, nope, even the Peterson backers realize getting BOTH Thomas and Quinn takes a little of the sting out of not getting Peterson.

I just worry about the Browns' jinx rearing it's ugly head. It's hard to get too excited. From Bentley blowing out his knee on the very first play of training camp last year to K2's motorcycling escapades, I must admit, I was a little nervous seeing Joe Thomas on that boat Saturday. I was expecting their boat to get rammed by a freighter ten minutes after he got the call from the Browns. :D

LOL...I thought about that regarding Thomas as well. I think the Browns had a great draft. Even the rapist they took was probably worth the risk given his upside and the luck they appeared to have with Quinn falling to them makes anything else gravy.

I never root for people to get hurt. As a Steelers fan, I just hope they all suck naturally :D

Nice to see the Steelers draft a couple of pass rushers in the first couple of rounds. Dallas Baker looks like a steal for a 7th round pick and even the punter they traded up for in the 4th looks very good.

I keep hearing defenders talk about Mike Vick and how he is a 'good guy' who makes 'bad choices', but in my world, good guys don't lie about sexually transmitted diseases or go through airport security holding water bottles with secret compartments or get involved in the dog fighting subculture. He is a good guy like Bill Romanowski is a good guy.

If this stuff turns out to be true, Joey Harrington could be the starting QB for the Falcons this year.

From SI.com:
"He knows what's going on in that house in Virginia,'' one source said. "There's not a doubt in my mind he's involved with it.'' The other source cited Vick's longtime "affinity'' for the dog-fighting subculture, and expressed certainty that Vick was aware of what was happening at the house.
And while Vick contends he was unaware of what was going on with pit bulls at his Virginia premises, his interest in the breed is well known. One source recounted to SI.com how a year or so ago, Vick and a neighbor got into a disagreement about the safety of Vick keeping two pit bulls in an unfenced yard at his home in suburban Atlanta. The neighbor went to Vick's home and complained to him that there were children in the neighborhood and that the dogs were a potential safety issue.

Vick just "laughed in the guy's face and told him to get the hell out of there,'' the source said. "We just kind of knew he was involved with pits.''

Guess the Dolphins shouldn't be expecting Ricky back this year. LOL.

He's as good as retired now. No way Goodell lets him back in the league now.

Grossman trying to take a snap from center reminds me of Steve Sax trying to make the throw to first.

Hes got mental issues...It cant be that hard can it?

Anyone watching Hardknocks on HBO?

The Chiefs really take the preseason games seriously, living and dying with virtually every play, regardless of who's playing.

I don't recall the Cowboys or the Ravens being so intense about preseason games in previous Hardknocks shows.
