No, they were ordering drinks and checking the overhead compartments for their carry-on luggage just moments before their death in horrible circumstances. Either that, or reading the in-flight magazine, scratching their heads and saying, "F*ck, I should have went to Tahiti instead."

That blonde chick guarding Jack -- Juliette, right? -- has a GREAT rack hidden under that sweater. :)

I'm getting a bit sick of the "tormented St. Jack" story line. OK, we know he's a flawed hero who had issues with his father and couldn't save his marriage. We get it already. Move along.

Take care,
PK

You might want to pay attention when you watch the next episode. Jack was about ready to pass out from lack of food and dehydration anyway, when he was punched in the face after the intense struggle to seal the door.

You really come up with some weird complaints about this show. People whose plane is crashing and burning should all be lined up at the windows checking out the scenery? Dear oh dear.

That's what they said last year too, when the butch Latina knocked out Sawyer. Also Kate has knocked down guys too. Lot of dehydration on that island.

Not lined up at the windows, but just as the people on the island ran out of their homes looking around, you don't think anyone would look around try to get their bearings? They're only going to look straight ahead, not one paying attention to where they are or where they might be headed?

I loved that opening... this show reminds me more and more of The Prisoner, and that's a good thing, in my eyes.

Because of a hazy memory, I spent the first half of the episode thinking Juliette was Desmond's girl from his flashbacks, and trying to reconcile that in my mind. Silly me. I like Juliette's slightly goofy demeanor.

I always got the impression that the plane broke up at cruising altitude, which made the survival rate all the more mysterious. Judging from the opening scene, however, they looked like they were flying fairly low by the time it crumbled.

I would love to see our main three actually ask some good questions of their captors instead of just brooding inwardly or being standoff-ish.

Holy f*ck: It's a fictional TV drama, not a documentary. It's meant to entertain, not chronicle. It's a f*cking fantasy-science fiction-adventure fictitious program, not a Ken Burns epic.

Do you send these accuracy quibbles to J.J. Abrams and Damon Lindelof, too? This entire show is based on a fantasy, something that never could happen, yet you're nitpicking about the power of a broad's punch?

Unbelievable.

You know, if you're tiring of the inaccuracy of "Lost," there's a killer documentary on The Military Channel tonight about attacking positions of Syrian tanks, which were Soviet T-62s, in the Golan Heights during the 1973 war that would be right up your alley. Please, check it out.

Well, the last time I was in a burning plane going down, I was in the fetal position, saying Hail Marys. What were you doing the last time you were in a 767 that was in flames and going down?

This island could use a few Rovers! Eat maybe 75% - 80% of the cast! :)

Seriously, I'd start watching again if the show just got up and went full blown Prisoner on us. Instead of one number, we're now following a dozen or so, each possessing 1/12 of Six's passion to figure out what is going on/escape.

*Love* the Prisoner! 8)

Pretty good season opener last night. The village was a nice touch. I thought the flashbacks made sense because I could see Juliette reminding him of his wife.

"The bears figured it out in 2 hours" was a nice joke, too. With the zoo aspect introduced, maybe that explains the polar bear?

Ah, very good connection, Brando. Never thought of that one!

There are times when I watch this show that I think Abrams and Lindelof don't have a master story line for this show. But then when I read possible connections like the astute one you made, it makes me think my assessment is more full of sh*t than ever. :)

Take care,

Are you saying that a women couldn't knock a man out? I've know a few "girls" that would probably kick the crap out of a man The one punch knockout is a staple of TV and movies, but on Lost a show drapped in Sci-fi it is not acceptable?

Anyway this is episode 1 of season 3, do we have to endure another full year of you watching a show and complaining about it? I can't for the life of me figure out why you waste your time watching this show you so clearly don't enjoy.

I enjoy "complaining" about it and eliciting reactions such as yours from the fans. :D

People quibble about accuracy and logical problems all the time. Lost attracts more discussion than other shows or movies.

Not all of that discussion is going to be praising the show to the heavens. It just comes with the territory.

I just try and enjoy the show for what it is. There are some things that annoy and puzzle me about the show...but not enough to make me not watch. I always keep in mind that its a TV show...not reality. I don't want reality...I get enough of that during the day :)

I believe it was "mama said knock you out", not mama actually doing the dirty work.

There's always the possibility the Mr. Cool J's mama was talking directly to HIM. As in...

"I'm gonna knock you out," mama said. "Knock you out."

...in which LL is relaying a story of intra-familial violence in third person, in which his mother repeats the threat for effect. Perhaps the music necessitated the cadence by which its implied that he's commanded to do violence to another man (or woman) on behalf of his mother, masking Ladies Love Cool J's true intent (and internal anguish).

Yeah, but that's not realistic.

Didn't one of the characters snark in Season 2 about the Red Sox never winning the WS?

It was a catchphrase used by Jack's father several times. It was also how Sawyer realized that it was Jack's dad that he saw on his bender in Oz.

I am getting a bit annoyed when the characters NEVER ask the "Others" what the hell is going on...what is their purpose...if they aren't the enemy, who the hell are they? Its not driving me away from the show but it can be annoying.

Well, it seems obvious (as it would to the characters) that it's not like the Others would volunteer any answers. Jack basically asked this last week and this, and received ambiguous answers ("Who we were isn't important, all that matters is who we are now." and "I've lived on this island my whole life and I have the power to get you home" essentially).

I think I would intuitively know that the folks who have enslaved me and seem to enjoy tazering me at any given opportunity may not be interested in exchanging biographies. :)

In the last two weeks this has been asked a few times. Along with many other questions I would expect to hear from the captives.

I thought last night episode answered a lot of lingering questions such as time frame of the show, etc

I also though the scene where Hnery Gale (or whatever his name is) told the other lady "You never brought me soup" was kind of telling. Perhaps each of these people have been broken down and then joined this society they have on the island.

Either way I've felt a lot more satisifed with the first two episodes in terms of moving the sotry then i did much of last year.

Not me. So far, what has actually happened? Hmm, the Others have captured the boat, Sun shot Trixie from Deadwood, and . . . Sawyer ate a fish biscuit? Really, nothing much has happened in terms of plot; some has been revealed in terms of exposition about the Others, but beyond that unless I missed something, not much has happened. These three were captured at the end of last season, and they're still captured now.

Also, I am becoming a little frustrated that we aren't seeing anything about the other characters. This show just has too many 'main' characters, and the ones I happen to like the most, we haven't even seen them yet so far this season.
