Glad to hear it, Paul. I have to admit, I keep trying yours and I just cannot do anything with them. I zig zag back and forth and just can't do anything even remotely clean with them. But I broke out my wheel and compared the lap times running full-bore with the T300RS on PS4, vs. the Controller on PS4 and XB1, and my lap times were probably half a second faster with the wheel--but I could go much more aggressively at a course with the controller, if that makes any sense.
It's almost like I have better throttle and brake control with fingers and the small trigger distances than I do with my own feet. Apparently I have a habit of stomping the pedals.
I really kept going in and racing different cars on different tracks and didn't feel anything that went "ok need to tweak this", so I can't see changing anything with them unless a new patch drops that changes the behavior entirely.
If you can get used to how twitchy the car can be at low-to-medium speeds, you'll be sitting pretty. That's the only deficiency, IMO. But if you are as precise as possible at 100mph or slower, it shouldn't be uncontrollable. They're money in the sweepers and once you get the car up to speed, though.

I know EXACTLY what you mean, with that one sentence. Because if I miss my corner entry by a single meter and have to try to dip it in late, I lose a ton of time, as the car takes far too long to settle and turn in with my settings. I definitely drive with a brake-a-bit, let-it-roll-to-the-apex, full-throttle-off approach. There's probably a good 30% of each corner where I'm just rolling the car with no pedal/trigger input, or very little throttle input just to get a little forward bite.
