I just saw over at IGN that Sony has released yet another firmware update. This one allows the PSP to support WMA files (excellent!) and looks to be the precursor software for being able to download TIVO programming and other copyprotected video.

I actually like the fact that Sony keeps releasing these firmware updates. It's much better than not getting any support at all. I just tried downloading a bunch of stuff from the Johnny Cash Legend box set onto my psp last night, and couldn't, because the files were WMAs. Great timing for me now that they support WMAs, considering I just picked up a new memory card on sale at Target last week. I don't have an Ipod and don't see myself needing one anytime soon now.
