It depends on what you mean by fixed, I guess. In my lone Heisman test the CPU QB went 3/19 with 8 dropped passes to open targets. I hate Chad Henne as much as the next Buckeye fan but 3/19 is just too low, even for a Wolverine. I'm not saying it is as blatant as NCAA 2005, but the drops are still there, maybe just not as often as before. And again that was just one game on default Heisman sliders, and more games need to be played. But Jason Avant, Michigan WR, has glue hands (the bastard) and he dropped 4 passes in that game, which is just flat out weird.Badgun wrote:Weird, most of the guys at OS are saying the dropped passes are fixed.wco81 wrote:Seems like Bill is seeing a lot of drops and poor pass completion percentages as a result.

Yeah, and I went back and read some more impressions and now I'm seeing more and more that dropped passes are indeed still a problem.Sudz wrote:i put more stake into what bill says.
Bill, is there anyway that you can focus on the passing game and see just how bad the dropped passes really are? I don't think I can go through another year of 7-20 games.Drop balls are still there, but not to the extent that they were last year. I have had some WR's drop some WIDE OPEN balls that is very frustrating, but at least it isnt like last year where the WR was more likely to drop it than catch it. I even had my impact player WR (courtney taylor) drop 3 wide open balls. Maybe I just have to work on my passing velocity....
Is this any better on AA?Bill_Abner wrote:It depends on what you mean by fixed, I guess. In my lone Heisman test the CPU QB went 3/19 with 8 dropped passes to open targets. Yeah, but if you go over to OS and read their impressions, more and more people are saying there's still a lot of dropped passes.Danimal wrote:Bill is making his report baseed on 2 or 3 games right? Even he would admit that is too small a sample percentage to make a judgement yet.
Like Sudz said, I'd trust Bill's word over that whole pack of guys over there.

Yes, as I have said, it's way too early and I have not touched a slider. But I was surprised to see the CPU drop that many passes on Heisman, especially with a receiver with great hands as the main culprit. I am not saying this is going to be a game killer, but it's just something that needs to be looked into a bit more. I admit I'm leery mainly because of NCAA 2005 so when I see a 3/19 game it raises a red flag for me. I dunno if I can go through another year of the CPU completing 30% of its passes.Danimal wrote:Bill is making his report baseed on 2 or 3 games right? I have to work on the book this afternoon but hopefully this evening I'll get more game time in.

I trust Bill's opinion more then anyone, but everytime a major release is put out, we run the gambit:
- Game is great, much improved.
- Game Sucks problem A is still there
- No problem A is gone.
It usually takes a few weeks to get a decent view (for me anyway) of what the general thoughts on a game are.
Either way all I was trying to say is, I want to hear Bill's thought after 10 or 12 games. I know he says he is working on the book today, but that is just so Todd doesn't think he is slacking off.
Maybe Bill you could call it research for the essay you are doing on the histroy of the NCAA series.

Yeah, and there are people that still believe that NFL Fever was a decent football game. It's all subjective.Danimal wrote:I trust Bill's opinion more then anyone, but everytime a major release is put out, we run the gambit:

-6 months later : Wow, I played Game A at a store and It's so good. I didnt' know what I was thinking when I first got rid of it. I re-purchased it and can't stop playing. Anyone want to do Game A Poker night?
Hasn't Heisman somewhat always cheated on ncaa? I think it's too early to jump to conclusions too. Lets get more games in and have the vast majority post impressions here.
Spooky wrote:One thing I am curious about (Scoop mentioned this in his impressions and I just want to see if this is the consensus), have the graphics been improved (fixed the washed out look) and is the horrible slow down gone for sure?
From what I've read they're all saying the Xbox version looks much better.

Yeah, I meant in NCAA. I'd be curious to see your results playing as Notre Dame. I know you probably couldn't stomach playing as the Irish, but I'd be curious to see if you noticed any difference in your offensive abilities. Maybe another middle-of-the-road team? Try playing a top 25 team with a motr team and see what happens. Tonight I'm going to try playing as OSU and see what impact that has.Bill_Abner wrote:In NCAA? #12. (for some reason) In real life, I have seen them as high as 10 and as low as 3. OSU should be really, really, good this year.ScoopBrady wrote:Bill,
I'm curious what OSU's ranking is. Are they in the top 25?

Bill, Scoop:
I know it's early, so this may be an unfair question, but since NCAA 2004 is considered the gold standard of EA college football games, how does NCAA 06 stack up to NCAA 2004?
With NCAA 2004 available for $5 used at EB, I'm wondering if NCAA 06 is really worth 10 times as much, especially since accurate rosters aren't vital for me.
I'd love to play as Mike Hart of Michigan, but I'm not sure if I want to pay $50 to do it, especially if I can create Hart in NCAA 2004 and pay $5. I'm not enough of a mega college football fan, despite my increased interest in it, that I MUST have the updated numbers and unis, especially if NCAA 06 isn't head-and-shoulders better than NCAA 2004 on the Xbox in graphics and gameplay.
Any initial comparisons are VERY appreciated. Thanks.
Take care,
PK

Yeah, I'm cracking the whip at Bill becuse he got his hands on the game and I didn't. Get back to work word-boy and stop posting here! I kid, I kid. Screw the book and find out if there are still drops this year after maxing out the hands slider. No way Henne should suck that bad, even against the evil Bucks.I know he says he is working on the book today, but that is just so Todd doesn't think he is slacking off.

PS - God I hate my local CompUSA right now. "We'll have it tomorrow. Er, we'll have it on the 5th. Er. We'll have it next Monday." With the kids and wife out of the house, I should've been playing this game all afternoon yesterday.
