well--the next question is this....
I have a psp, ps2 and an xbox. I only play sports games most of which are available on both systems. When, where and how do I go about dumping systems--obviously the psp is a keeper. Right now using the xbox for mvp, forza, we8. PS2 only for madden, hot shots golf 4.
PS2 is a launch system but seems to be in great shape.
Unfort Xbox live is not an issue as there is no hihh speed internet option in my neck of the woods.
I should probably wait until more info is known about the next gen systems before picking one instead of picking up both at launch as the temptation will be.

I would like it to be backwards compatible, but whether it is or isn't will not impact my buying decision in any way. I have already preordered a 360 and paid $50 down and will continue to pay on it for the next few months.
While backwards compatibility is nice in theory, I have never put one PS1 disc in my PS2. Just because a new system comes out there's no reason to immediately run out and trade or sell the older system. I still have 2 PS1s and I imagine I'll still have both my Xboxs after the 360 comes out.
I do agree with the article when it says people tend to only play games designed for that certain system so I would guess that instead of playing Ghost Recon 2 on the 360, everyone will be playing Ghost Recon 3. While I agree that the Xbox has a lot of life left in it, people's mindsets change when a new system comes out. I have about 40 PS1 games in my library, games that I thought I would always play again...but once the PS2 came out, I haven't played a single PS1 game. Makes me wonder what's going to happen to my 120 or so Xbox games.
