Is it worth buying a 3rd PS2?? a slim one??
What other games would make the purchase worthy??..besides WE8.

Ill hang up and listen for my answer.

Personally I don't think any ONE game, no matter how good, justifies buying a new console.
If you have other games on that console that you might like... then it makes sense. Otherwise just wait for Xbox version.
I still have my PS2... so I'll probably pick this one up. Got some eBay fundage for it.

First off, is anyone else having troble with that little, teenie, tiny map? It gets so clutter with crap that it is really hard to see my objective. Aslo, if anyone has done the spray Painting mission, tell me it was not impossible to see where to tag from looking at the map!?!?!? HELP!
Well, for those of you wondering if this game is a system seller...GO OUT AND BUY A NEW PS2 RIGHT NOW!!! Wiat, wait, wait...I am kidding. I have to agree that no one game is really worth buying a system for. If you are, however, also at all interested in Ace Air Combat 5, MGS3, GT4, Jak 3, and maybe acouple other hidden gems, then the PS2 might be a lot more worth your while. The system is definitely not dead. It has it's place in my house, even if it is more for the occasional single player game.
Did not play any more of GTA last night, but in reflecting on what I had played, I cannot wait to play more tonight. I really think the theme of the game will help carry me through the missions and thoroughly enjoy all of them. The theme just naturally lends itself to this type of game. Oh, and even from the little I have seen so far, I concur with all the comments about there being an absolute ridiculus amount of sh*t to do in this game. The left NO stone unturned.

SoMiss: this game will still be the same amazing, great and incredible game as it is now when it is finally released on Xbox. It won't lose any of it gloss and sheen, might even look a lot better, and as long as you don't actively ruin it by reading every gamefaq and blog about plot and mission details, i'm sure you will enjoy it just as much later as you would now. And with faster load times!!
Plus, in just one short measley week, 7 puny days, Halo2 will arrive and make you forget all about GTA. (Assmuning here you are interested in Halo2.)
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad I still have my PS2
, but I myself am trying to hold off on this game until I can get a cheaper copy. This thread isn't making it any easier. But the plan is to hold off at least until after I am bored with Halo2.
I'm just trying to help you save some money, a little devil's advocate, you know.
Is there a timeline for the Xbox release? I would bet they would try to get it out more quickly than the last, although I imagine their exclusive deal with Sony is as long as Sony can get them to agree to.

haven't heard of a timeline. However, you are correct. I'm just getting into espn nba. I'll probably end up just playing that until halo 2 comes out.Zeppo wrote:SoMiss: this game will still be the same amazing, great and incredible game as it is now when it is finally released on Xbox. You officially know you're a nerd when you're reflecting on your video game experiences from earlier in the evening. Sheesh...go drop hammer on your girl or something Spooky, and stop thinking about GTA.Spooky wrote:Did not play any more of GTA last night, but in reflecting on what I had played, I cannot wait to play more tonight.

Ummm...correct me if I am wrong, but Halo 2 IS 2 weeks away! Guess you need to head to EB today...

Hate to break it to you Zep but November 9th IS 2 weeks away unless they bumped up the date and I didn't hear about it.Zeppo wrote:I tell ya, if it were 2 weeks until Halo2, I would not be able to resist. I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.
My time is water down a drain.

who here is not interested in the hype machine known as GTA San Andreas. The first GTA kinda cool b/c of the free roaming novelty. However, even that one got old after awhile. I started noticing that the majority of the gameplay is driving from mission to mission.
Vice city i played about 10% and got bored. Same ole. Drive, Drive, Drive.
San Andreas looks like its an even bigger map, meaning more driving. Plus the originality of running over people and bangin hoes has worn off.
Halo 2 is also a hype machine and somewhat overrated. But at least it has tight and refined gameplay with awesome graphics, and andreline inducing firefights.

Just go get it. You won't be disappointed, if you already like the series, it's pretty much guaranteed. Trade in Fable towards it.Zeppo wrote:CRAP! You guys are right, and i am an idiot! Hmm. What to do. Well, I'm still leaning towards holding off, but now that the veil has been lifted.
See, I wouldn't have figured it out until next week, and then it would have been only one more week to wait. Now that I realize my idiocy, however. . . .
Where did you shoot hoops at? I did about 6 missions and pretty much everything else you did except shoot hoops and bang the prostitute. Where did you do that at?ScoopBrady wrote:Just got done playing for 2 hours.
I did 4 missions.
I got me a fro and beard.
I browsed the Tattoo parlor.
I shot some hoops.
I banged a prostitute and of course smacked her with a shovel and got my money back.
I had some pizza.
I had a salad.
I rode some bikes.
I really enjoyed some of the old school Eazy E, Ice Cube, Helmet, GnR.
I'm liking this game better than Vice City so far. The story seems to grab you much quicker this time. The voice acting is top notch. The graphics are improved and I love the camera being assigned to the right analog stick. Now if only the left analog stick was forward/back and strafe left/right.
I was told to go to the gym and get a gangster physique, but when I go the trainer tells me to come back when I have more muscle? What next?
Cool game so far, but after hearing the REALLY, REALLY bad language, I feel a little more reluctant to let my 14 year old son play. I don't mind the violence, but I really don't won't him "getting into" the lingo. That being said, I wonder how all of these 14 year old Mountain Dew freaks are going to obtain this game. I though with an M rating you had to be 18 to buy it.

Badgun, in the gym you will see two dumbells, tredmill, bike, and weight bench. Just walk up to one of those and push the triangle button then foollow the instructions. Once you put on some muscle you will be able to fight the boxer guy.
So far this game is a blast to play and I hated Vice City. The story and the acting is very good. I am not sure if I would buy a ps2 just for this game since I hear it will be on xbox by Feb. 2005.

Correct me if I am wrong, bt didn't GTA:III have a button to enlarge the map while playing? Where did that go?
Sorry to keep b*tching about this, it's just that it could help so much to just have a simple 'enlarge map' option. What makes the map even harder to read is that a lot of the keys or icons are the same color as the map areas. WTF!?!?!? After my first mission, when you are told to go back to C.J's house to save, I could not for the life of me find his house again. The large, circular 'C.J.' on the map was gone. I had to look at the pasue menu map, find the safe house icon, and then search around for about 5 minutes to finally see the icon totally blended into the map background.
Yuck!
Okay, now that I have gotten that out of my system, I cannot wait to play more tonight. Find me some more crack dealers to beat the sh*t out of! (if I can find them on my map!?!?!)

I know what you mean. I teach High School and yesterday there was a huge buzz in all my classes that the game was due out. I talked with a few of my Juniors who were getting it and we had a pretty good discussion about the game. Bottom line, there is no way a kid under the age of 14 or so should be playing the game.Badgun wrote:Where did you shoot hoops at?
