I´m thinking it´s gotta be a boy she´s carrying, because of course he wants me to have time to try out my new soccer game, right? Way to give one up for the team son!

At this point, Scoop could very well be a possibility. We´re set on a girl´s name, but damn it, it´s the boy´s name that´s been the most frusturating. We still haven´t come to an agreement. As it stands, it´s most likely between three names. I like her idea of waiting until he´s born.....if it´s a he of course, and see what name fits him best. Talking about going down to the last minute. With our first son at least, we decided with a couple weeks to spare.

Time´s ticking.....she´s dilated to 3 centimeters.......2.5 hours til I can blow this joint!

Congratulations Dan. If it´s any consolation she will have to let you out to get some sleep at some point, at which time you can fire up the PS2 and enjoy WE unmolested.

Well, a guy over on Evo-Web who sounds like he knows what he is talking about and claims to have the game says it is more or less a straight PES3 port. Oh well, so much for the rumors. Looks like I´ll let that Japanese order stand (but still get the US version).

BP, we season ticket holders going to get anything this year as cool as last year´s scarves? Got any extra 2004 kits from the opening day promo?

Thanks for all the well wishes guys. Didn´t intend for this to become just about my new arrival.

I´ve been reading impressions here and there about the game. The majority of the people who have played it thus far keep commenting on the ball physics and exclaiming how realistic it feels. Also, just taking from what one guy has said, he said the flags are pretty similar to the real life ones. Meaning, they don´t neccessarily need that much editing. Plus, the fictuous players have fairly normal sounding names.....

Well it falls on Jared now as to what the Asian version does differently.

I want to know what the eight new teams are supposed to be. As well as what AI/Gameplay enhancements there are.

Back to WE7
-Pretty excited that you can make long shots
-Controls feel sloppy but not in a bad way. Does that make any sense much more realistic.
-Animations are much more organic and smooth.
-Rosters suck. Come on Konami you obvioulsy had to do something for the Asian version so why not just sell the same damn game without region lock. Both are NTSC. Konami is a great company to never push the envolope.

Unless the gameplay is greatly enhance in WE7:i (jap) or there´s a new mode of gameplay, I don´t think I´ll spend 60 on a new roster set, 1 new stadium and 6 new teams.

Came home early and was happy to see a package in my door.

Just finished my first game as Roma v. Man U. at Old Trafford and lost 2-0, on 3 stars.

Quick first impressions:

-definitely seems like we received the PES 3 version, at least in terms of having updated rosters (Veron still at Man U, etc.), oh well.

-graphics are very nice; definitely improved. The aminations are unparalelled. I actual stopped the game to watch a replay of Totti trap a ball while he was running--unbelievably realistic looking.

-gameplay is definitely tougher. Very hard for me to generate any scoring chances.

-game strategies/formations, etc. are implemented little different--going to have spend some time figuring it out--maybe even read the manual!

-menus/interface is improved--much easier to navigate.

-one minor complaint: I had some trouble seeing the ball against the grass--I think it is possible to change the ball (mayb have to buy?).

That´s all for now. I´m going to play some more, change the names of the teams, etc. Check in later. Good luck to Mr. and Mrs. Sportsdan!

Picked it up on the way home. It´s PES3 allright. Oh well...

Happily, though, it seems to be fully modifiable. The new kit encryption is obviously only on the Japanese version.

I´m glad it´s not above and beyond PES3, cuz I´m pretty much engulfed in the fun that it has provided. I didn´t want to have to buy ANOTHER soccer game.

I´m tempted to get it for the ps2 although the pc version is working like a charm and i´ve got the epl update (with a few minor biased changes like making duff, terry, and lampard the world class stars they really are instead of the hacks the Manchester United fanboys who created the game/patch initially rated them as ).

More comments:

I guess I am disappointed that we didn´t get updated rosters and why the f*** isn´t Clint Mathis in the game?

Having rosters that are only current through the end of LAST season is really questionable. It´s like Konami is just saying: "Here you go US, take it or leave it. We could have spent an extra hour updating the game for you guys, but didn´t feel like it."

It´s still my favorite game and I would buy it no matter, but it is frustrating and confusing.

So I guess my options are buy the Gameshark and wait for somebody to create an option file or collect the 10,000 points an do it myself. It´s a lot of points!

One suggestion I´ve heard to collect the points fast: with your first 1,000 buy the super speed game and then play a bunch of cups and ML on 1* with 1 minute halves.

Allright, enough complaining...I´m still going to enjoy the heck out of this game. BTW the fully licensed Italian teams look awesome.

No Japanese version for me (yet). Fingers crossed on getting it soon, but it might take a few days. By the way, there are NO NEW TEAMS in WE7:I (Jap). It´s the same group of squads from WE7. I don´t know about updates in players stats, roster, and the like. But there definitely are NOT any new teams.

But the gameplay is better. Though people are saying that the difference between WE7 and WE7:I (Jap) is not nearly as big as the difference between WE6 and WE6:FE.

Jared/Blub,

Are the WE7I Jap. menus in English? If so, that´s a smart move by Konami. It´s about time.

Pac,
Menus are in whatever language you choose (English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Spanish), and commentary is also in the language of your choice.

I have NO idea why I preordered this game with three day shipping. I thought that maybe by preordering it, I was gonna get it earlier, but I was wrong. These past two days have been harrowing. I can´t wait for Friday.
Might as well go buy it and then return the unopened one when you get it Friday. Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do.

What camera are you guys using? I find my penetration up the middle is better using the long camera, but my vision is better overall using the side camera. Is there any way to jury-rig an iso view?

I use wide camera...works the best to see the most play.

And blub, do you have DC United season tickets? I´m in Baltimore and will definitely be going to the season opener...but I don´t get out there enough to get season tickets. Will try and catch a handful of games this year though.

Looks like WE7:I (Jap) has some AI changes in it. Man it´s too bad that the games were released at the same time but they could take the time to release it for the US. Instead they just took PES3 and ported it over here. I just don´t get konami at all. They seem to work ass-backward.

Guys,

I think I saw this on an earlier thread about WE7 but I want to make sure. I went out and bought the gameshark 2 today. There wasn´t a cable in there but there was the disc and a instruction booklet. My questions are, can I use any USB cable to move the option file from my pc to the ps2/memory card? Did I buy the right software? I see all the stuff about codes but there wasn´t a big thing about keeping your saves or moving files to your pc. Please tell me I bought the right thing.
Drop me a private message and I will get a plan for you for United games. We have a package that would be perfect because it is real cheap and gives you flexibility.
I think you bought the wrong thing. You want an X-Port or Sharkport. X-Port is a newever version of Sharkport (I believe) and comes with a cord to connect to your PC and PS2.
