I finally got a chance to start this one and I loved it. I think I am just getting to the point where the game opens up. I just received the pick axe and started climbing rocks. I found my first hidden tomb and it's a lot of fun. Can't wait to play more.

I really do wish there were more random tombs (and am hopeful for some DLC in the future to that end), but that's my only 'gripe', if it can be called that. I have really had a good time exploring after the credits, and it's not 'bare', as there are remnants of the bad guys still hanging around, so there are still combat encounters. That was a good move. In Far Cry 3, you could eventually clear the island completely, and it made it a tad boring (something they remedied with the patch that allows you to reset the hideouts).

Anyone know if they've made any known plans to support the SP portion of the game with DLC? The MP really hasn't grabbed me much, so I don't care about map packs for that.

I'm still working through this but this is one of my favorites games in a long time. I've never been a TR fan, think I said that already :) So this reboot is exactly what the franchise needed. I could do without some of the OTE segments and I think the shooting aspect is a little much at times. For instance the part at the shanty town where you get the fire arrows and it's just you against dozens of well armed men.

I think I heard one of the guys says something to the effect of "How is one girl kicking our asses" which is not only funny, but a wink from the devs. I can look past all of that and the cheesy voice acting for some of the side characters because they made Lara so human.

When she collapses from exhaustion after sliding down a river and barely surviving, when she lets out a scream while cauterizing her leg. The way the music is paced brilliantly with the action. The voice actress who plays her is brilliant. It's all so seamless (so far) that I feel like I am taking part in a big budget film.

If it wasn't for all the other games I need to review I would of been through this already.

Finally started playing my rental a bit last night and while I'm only like a half hour in, I can see what you guys are liking about this game. Definitely a reboot that was needed and I look forward to getting into it a bit more. Too many A+ games just came out...tough to make time when I've only got about an hour a night.

I've only played about 2 and a bit hours but I'm with you guys - this is a very, very slick game. I'm having a lot of fun.

Tress FX (lol) kills my PC though (nvidia card here)!

Broke my rule of buying full price new single player games for this one. Spent alot of time with it the last couple of nights. Awesome game. I'm just past the shantytown and the story has been very good. The whole package is very solid. I haven't strayed much from the story, so I haven't done much exploring. I was thinking I would go back and explore once the story is over. I've only come across 2 tombs just playing the story so far. Im not sure if there if there were anymore if I would have explored more. Seems like there should be.

Not sure about the other stores, but Walmart had a code inside for a free Tomb Raider Guardian of Light arcade download. Unexpected and very welcome bonus.

They really should have just called this Uncharted 4...it's amazing how similar they are.

Played about 7 hours now and I'm still being blown away. I didn't expect the game to be this good.

Spot on.

I actually think that the moment to moment gameplay in TR is better and I really like the quasi-open world nature (though the set pieces and presentation in Uncharted are a tad better).

Finished it. In a word; Awesome.

I cannot wait for these guys to make a sequel building on everything they've done here - it's absolutely fantastic. I really, really like the new Lara.

Finished it myself feel exactly the same as macca. One of the best games I have played in the last 10 years. I can't recall the last time I finished a game and had that feeling I get when seeing a good movie or finishing a good book.

I was exhausted by the end but in a good way. Add me to the new TR band wagon.

Should I just wait until the end to go back and explore the areas for tombs?

Seems a bit out of the storyline for her to just go exploring while trying to escape those kooks.

I've been taking them as they come. Works well to break up all the shooty parts, especially later on.

I have only one real complaint about TR...well, two, really, melded into one:

MP is pretty spastic, and wasn't worth the trouble.

I wish SP was about 50 hours long. Sure, the story could've stayed the length it is, but added a TON more random tombs to explore. Heck, maybe even keep the tombs inaccessible until after the story, then open up the island for exploration in classic TR style, and focus all the DLC on SP expansion. The MP work was simply not worth it.

I honestly enjoyed this iteration of TR more than any in it's history, and that's saying alot. I've played every TR, and loved most of them. But not like this one. I loved the story, but hated seeing it end.

I agree but I think outside of rpg's the days of 50 or even 25 hour campaigns is gone. I finished the main story with a 61% competition rating at about 15 hours. I may go back and explore the tombs I missed or try and find the missing gps caches etc, not sure.

I agree. And if you consider the Batman games, Arkham City was better in many ways, but the piles of extra stuff to do actually degraded the core story mode. I preferred the more streamlined Arkham Asylum, event though it had plenty of stuff to find and areas to explore.

I have not picked up TR yet, but that is because it is just not a good time to add another single player game to the pile, at least for full price. My daughter is busting through ACIII and my wife is trying to get 1000 points out of Lego LotR. And when I'm not playing sports games, I ought to wrap up RDR or Deus Ex.

But I imagine I will jump on it the first time I see it on sale. My wife and I played through Legend and a good chunk of Underworld together. We're really excited to take on the reboot.

I wish the extra tombs were part of the story. That is my only small, small gripe. I went to collect all the extra stuff and played a couple of the extra tombs, but got somewhat bored with that and decided to trade it in. Got Mass Effect 3 and Portal 2 for it.

This game looks great, but since I am in cheap bastard mode I am waiting for price drop and/or deluxe edition in a few months.

50% or so done. This game is really, really good. A few too many QTE/cut scenes at times, but what a delightful surprise this game has been. Strong writing in a Tomb Raider game? Who saw that coming?

They took the unusual approach of having the lead writer be a woman instead of some 25 year old nerd whose idea of a woman hero means fake tits and short pants. I'd say it worked pretty well.

I finished the game over the weekend. I thought the story was just long enough. I think they could have made each Tomb a little longer though, maybe like the Shrines in AC:Brotherhood. I did do a bit of exploring along the way. Going back collecting I found getting around the Island was a pain with the different elevations, paths and limited fast travel. I gave up at around 80%.

I'd put it right up there with Uncharted 2 as one of my favorite action games. The only thing I missed from Uncharted was the buddies and humor, but Lara is a loner so that wouldn't work in Tomb Raider.
