Hard to believe it's the 18th Opening Day at the Tribe's "new" ballpark. I haven't missed one yet. Forecast is for around 40 degrees, chance of snow/rain. Oh well. Heck, it wouldn't feel like Opening Day if we weren't all bundled up like a Browns game. GO TRIBE!!!!!!!
One of your favorite days? Get your priorities straight...it's THE best day of the year
I'll be at the Jays opener vs. the Twins on Friday. Can't wait! Fortunately/Unfortunately I'll be inside a warm dome.
Blue Jay home openers are always interesting because unlike the rest of the year, it completely sells out (50,000). It also has a reputation for being a super rowdy crowd (unlike most Jay games which feature polite Canadians waving at themselves at the Jumbotron).
I'm predicting 2 dingers from Bautista of course....
As usual, the Mets open up with two road series, but I am all for leaving work early next Friday and heading over to Citi for the 4:05 pm start. I am seldom as happy about where as I live as when we're all crammed on the train after a game, and we get to jump off after 5 quick stops. My father got me a custom official jersey with my name on it for Xmas, so if Beltran's knee is gimpy or Bay's oblique is flaring, I'm ready to go.

I don't expect Jose to duplicate what he did last year. If he manages to hit at least 35 dingers, it would be safe to say that he belongs in the organization for a long term. I am really excited about the young rotation, Romero starting on Friday instead of the Doc, the bullpen which is stronger this year. But the big question mark for me is how healthy will be A. Hill and can how can A. Lind adjust to 1st base.
Hill doesn't seem to have the same reach as he did a couple of years ago, because of his injury and he's got to be better this year. When you're facing the likes of the Bosox, NYY and Rays all year long in a real tough division, this team is not ready to contend yet but I'd like to see them fighting for a spot for a playoff run.
I really like the direction that GM AA is taking since taking over, bring on the Twin-kies Friday night.
Enjoy the game, I usually get my share of games in TO around August when I drop in for a visit to see my buddy.
I was watching the Twins game in Atlanta today and NOBODY is there. I can't believe it. I've never seen a MLB stadium so empty, even if it is an exhibition game. I've been to a few games at Turner field back in 2003, and it was very lively there. I wonder what the deal is. Either Braves fans don't care, or they just don't care about exhibition baseball.

Yeah, those 12:30pm Wednesday starts for exhibition baseball sure are hot tickets in other cities. There is a reason that 95% of spring training game are held in 5,000 seat stadiums.

It'd be nice if mlb would give you trial pass for the spring training games just to see how smooth it runs over appletv. I'm scared to drop Extra Innings just find out the streaming is a pain.
Might have to try this myself....
MLB At Bat '11
It's the official--and officially the best--way to watch baseball via a portable device. It's certainly not cheap, but most devout baseball fans consider it essential. At Bat '11 for iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad costs $14.99, but the coolest features, like watching live games (out of market only), require a subscription to MLB.TV that starts at $99 for the season. There's a lot that's new this year for the iOS version of At Bat, but the cost-conscious will be most excited to read this: Volvo is sponsoring a free trial for MLB.TV for the entire month of April--on iOS only. That means once you buy the At Bat app, you can watch any game live (again, out of your home market) without being an MLB.TV subscriber for that month.
Also new this year: at least three times during a game you're watching, an orange "Live Look In" button will appear on the screen giving you the option to jump into another game for a period of time. MLB will use the feature to let viewers see pivotal game moments, like a bases-loaded bottom of the 9th situation. And it won't matter where you're watching from--the feature will be blessedly free of black-out restrictions. Specific to the iPad version of At Bat is an improvement to the GameDay feature, which simulates games in progress with pitch trajectory visualizations and streaming play-by-play information. If it looks more to you like a really well-done video game this year, that's because MLB got Sony to lend it the images from its MLB 11: The Show game. This year the ballpark backdrops and players (who change home and away uniforms) look more realistic than ever.
The iPhone and iPod Touch versions of the At Bat app have been updated with the latest mobile obsession: check-ins. This year if you "check in" to a ballpark on the app, you'll unlock some hidden features. Those include interactive maps of the stadium to find restrooms; ATMs; and exactly which concession stand serves your favorite beer, thanks to the included menus. Plus, the home team will offer special deals for fans that check in, which could include seat upgrades, coupons for gear, food discounts, and more.
The app will also keep track of stats from the games you've been to. That way, by midseason you can track how well (or poorly) your team did, including players' batting averages or pitching performances, during the games you saw in person.

Today I was pleasantly surprised when watching the Yanks/Tigers game (on my cpu) that I could very easily import my current cbs fantasy roster for player alerts (i.e. who's batting, on-deck).
For anyone in a cbs pool (if not, you can still manually choose which players to track), this is great!
I am thinking about going on a baseball trip to some stadium and catch 2-3 games some weekend. Watching the Dodgers game right now makes me think I owe it to myself to go check out Dodger Stadium. LA people, what's it like to catch a game there? The backdrop seems to be incredible. I have been to Wrigley on a tour, but never seen a game there. It seems like the "in" thing to do at Wrigley is to sit out in the outfield and get drunk as hell. Considering I don't drink, that isn't for me. My other option is to go catch a series at Fenway. I am still in contact with a guy from Boston (Droog from Sports Reviewers lol) and would be going with him if I went there. What do you guys think??
Dodger is OK at best. Its a nice ballpark once you're inside but the parking is so horrendous I can't recommend it really. I go to about a dozen games a year and every year I wonder why I bother. Which is why I'm catching a couple of the Braves games here in LA and then going up to San Francisco for the weekend to catch a few more there.

Ignore DB & his parking rant. If you haven't been, it's worth checking off your list. Having grown up seeing games in 'old busch stadium', I loved my first trip to Chavez Ravine. Yeah, the parking is can be a drag (seems much better last year btw), but it's no reason not to go. Drive on down & hit Petco when you're done.

He sucks! They aren't going anywhere with his measely a** throwing 90 miles an hour. If he's not locating, he's a frickin' bum. Sad thing is that Motte isn't the answer either. If Wainwright hadn't gotten hurt, I really think McClellan would have been excellent in the role.
There is no worse parking lot in the world than dodger stadium so its not even a rant...its a fact. Not to mention that nearly every game someone gets beaten within an inch of their life in the parking lot because the fan base is pretty ummm gang affiliated. Hell last night...first game of the season someone already got their ass beaten outside. Think the only parking lot that is more dangerous is in Oakland for a raider game. It all adds up. Would much rather go to PETCO or At&t if you want to come to Cali. That's just fact.
lol I thought of that too, db. We don't have Modells here. What is it?
Twins are doing a great impression of a punching bag. Getting 6 different kinds of dog crap kicked out of them. This Blue Jays lineup has some hitters in it. Too bad they're in the hardest division in baseball. If they were in the AL Central, they would win the division by over 10 games easily.

My buddy said the same thing this morning, would have been great. We are going NOWHERE with Franklin as our closer.

Oh no doubt. I was quite impressed with J. Arencibia. Romero pitched a gem, Bautista picked up from where he left off last year and the rest of the team just fed off from the raucous crowd. But your Twins will rebound, just wondering if J. Morneau can still be a factor with his recent concussion.

Were you able to maintain this enthusiasm when it was 14-0?
I kid, I kid. While it was nice to see the Sox and their newest acquisition have such a good day offensively it is a little disconcerting to see that a 14-0 game ended 15-10. The bullpen needs to improve because they can honestly contend if it does, IMO.
Now the northsiders are just going to be in for a looooooooong season.
Either way Go Hawks and Go Bulls! I'll pay more attention when the NHL and NBA playoffs are over.
I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.
My time is water down a drain.
