As a proud, card carrying Cub hater, I like Soriano playing left for them. Very much!

As an example of why. Lets say, God forbid, the Cubs make the playoffs next year. My observation is that Soriano only hits bad pitchers. He will once again, inevitably, suck ass in the post season. He is hitting 213 lifetime in said postseason.

Well I would prefer someone out there with better baseball acumen, but since the team is stuck with his horrible contract, I accept it, and hope he continues to take advantage of the bad pitchers who want to challenge with fastballs and hanging curves and sliders. When he's hot he has carried the team for weeks at a time. I'd really like to see that hop goes though.

I think the Cubs could benefit from movie Soriano down in the lineup. He has so much pop in his bat, hitting him lead-off seems like a bit of a waste.

Street just felt apart in the 9th, in a game that I really wanted them to win. Howard comes thru as usual for Philly and this is a heartbreaker for COL. Nice save by Lidge.

Very dominant in these playoffs, so has been A-Rod, and when you have a bullpen like they have they may just win it all this year.

Absolutely. I can't believe how bad they have been on the plate. Horribly inconsistent...strike zones changing DURING the game. Inexcusable. MLB should really be embarrassed.

Overheard inside the ump locker room last night....

Second Base Ump- "No, on the bag he's safe, off the bag, he's out"

Third base ump- "Wait, what? So if the runner is ON the bag then he's safe? I thought if he was off the bag but i was too lazy to move to a spot where i could see where he was standing then i just call him safe. No?"

First base ump- "No. Oh, and another thing. A runner can run home on a fly out as long as he doesn't leave the bag prior to the ball being caught."

Third base ump- "Wait, what? I'm supposed to miraculously somehow watch his foot AND when the ball is caught!?!? What am i, some kind of sorcerer?"

Home Plate Ump to Second Base Ump- "Can you believe this guy? Man. I'll be back, gotta meeting upstairs with the boss. Something about replacing me with a piece of plywood with a hole cut out of it. Who knows..."

Ugh, it looks like the Yankees will finally succeed in buying themselves a WS ring.

Yeah. I thought it was funny when Alex Rodriguez after the game said they were "really lucky to have a pitcher like Sabathia." I can think of $161M reasons why it isn't luck.

Steve Phillips of ESPN was put on leave because he had an affair with this ESPN staffer:

I cannot get over how BAD the umpiring continues to be. Just pure sh*t behind the plate. Again, both ways. It is inexcusable.

They're fortunate that the last couple of games have been blown outs, although tonights' game is still not over. Just plain lousy officiating.
