She chose to do some time in jail rather than give up more time doing community service.jondiehl wrote:Lesson to the cast... don't drink and drive or you'll be unemployed.
All the drinking in Hawaii, what are the odds they get caught?
Oh and I guess the surprise at the end of Hurley's backstory about the asylum is now moot. Of course they don't explain all these coincidences of the passengers having run into each other years before they ever boarded the plane.
Tonight they introduce another one, Anna Lucia and Jack's father.
How long before a flashback features Kevin Bacon?

She picked the jail time to quickly, no need to keep your schedule clear by avoiding the community service if she was going to get written off the show.wco81 wrote:She chose to do some time in jail rather than give up more time doing community service.jondiehl wrote:Lesson to the cast... don't drink and drive or you'll be unemployed.

I liked the show title tonight, "2 for the road"... kind of a wink wink to real life too? I think it's obvious that they killed them off on purpose. Really, it could have been anyone down there for Michael to shoot, they could have used a bit part character to kill off.
IMO, I think Michael isn't "with the others" now. I think he's doing this as sort of a "do this for us if you want your boy back" type of thing. He had to find a way to get the hostage back for the others and/or lead the Lost people to the others in order to get Walt back. It's getting late in the season though, that's probably something for Season 3.

I saw Abrams do an interview on tv earlier saying that season 2's finale is going to blow away the end of season 1, tonight's episode would have made a great cliffhanger so just imagine what is still to come.

Gonna threadjack for a bit to chastise you lost people that don't stick around for Invasion, which is on the cancellation bubble. Granted, it started slowly, but it has bult itself up into a tense climax, and the last few eps have been great.
It's a show that does a better job of revealing it's secrets and then building upon them to bigger/different ones than lost does, IMO.
Fingers crossed that it gets renewed, but I doubt it. That would be the second Shaun Cassidy show that gets canned. I thought American Gothic was great too, and very similar.

Count me as a big fan of Invasion from the Pilot onward. The cast is tremendous; William Fitchner is good in whatever he does and he is amazing here, Kari Matchett was one of the ensemble in the outstanding Nero Wolfe, the Tim Hutton produced show, Eddie Cibrian is very good as the lead.
What I like about it the most is that it places a sound but relatively mundane split-family drama in the midst of all this creepy backwoods sci-fi insanity. Thus they can explore a lot of the great sci-fi themes through their familial impacts. They've gone too far in some things, not far enough in others, but hey it's a TV show. If it gets cancelled, it would be a real shame as it is setting a great foundation for several years of good stuff moving ahead.

I'm a big fan of Invasion too, watch it since the start of the season (along with the other new sci-fi's, Surface and Threshold). I've started to like and look forward more to Invasion than Lost even. Threshold didn't make it, and I don't think Surface is coming back. Hopefully Invasion will get renewed.

Damn. They seem to have started showing Surface on Universal HD, which I liked a lot once I started watching it. Yeah, it's got some problems, like the main teenage kid who annoys me no end (I think it has something to do with the physiology of his nose and mouth, of all things), and some second-rate special effects, but there are some great things about it too.webdanzer wrote:To end the minor threadjack:
Invasion cancelled.
Ah well. That last ep. of Invasion was really freaking great.
And the latest ep. of Lost was excellent as well. I really like the flashbacks in this one, as they seemed to inform the plot of the current time period very well as opposed to seeming like heavy exposition filler the way it was early on. Of course, Ecko and Locke are my two favorite characters, and actors, on the show, so that helped.
Are they going to at least finish the season of Invasion? I don't think there are but one or two episodes left. It would be a shame to cancel it and leave us hanging like this.
I've seen some really good shows this season get cancelled while they continue to put dreck like Dancing With the Stars and Unanimous on.
I don't know if anyone saw Love Monkey as it was only on for like 3 weeks before CBS cancelled it, but it was a great show. Thankfully, they are running the remaining episodes on VH-1.

Yeah, it's got one more episode this Wednesday. The bubble unfortunately popped. It lost a lot of ratings from the beginning of the season, but they were actually going back up the past few weeks. It got hurt by a hiatus too.
Rumor had it that the new CW network might pick it up, but it doesn't look like that is happening.
No worries, though, According to Jim, and What About Brian are coming back.
This is what I get for getting interested in a network show. Back to HBO only for me.

Just goes to show how stupid TV execs are. I don't watch Invasion, but understand it is very popular with people on this board. The problem I have is with the way ABC handled this. You put this show after Lost and you figure it will be a hit if it can hold on to say 60% of the lead in. It is a similar genre to Lost, so the fans are right there for Invasion to keep or lose.
As memory serves, Invasion started out well ratings-wise. But then Lost goes missing for weeks at a time. New episode, then four weeks of repeats. Such inconsistent pacing in when they show new episodes. Don't you think this is what killed Invasion's ratings? Once people realized that Lost was another repeat, there goes Invasion's lead-in. So what do you do? Cancel a show that has a growing cult following, instead of holding the stupid execs who have doomed it to fail from the start.
Ah, rant over.
Anyway Lost rules.

Well they have to spread 22-24 episodes over a period of like 9 months.
That works for most series where episodes are self-contained but Lost is a serial which had to build or maintain tension or suspense throughout.
So you lose that any time there's a break in new episodes.
Fox got around that by starting 24 in January and going all the way through May, giving up the November sweeps.
ABC wants to spread it out over the Nov., Feb., and May sweeps so they have to stick in repeats. They're not going to give up the ability to use the show as a ratings draw throughout the season and they're not going to finance the production of say 35 episodes in a season.
So it's always gong to be like this, with repeats and special eps where they're just showing clips.
