Re: Forza 4
I went and pulled out my card. It has three sets of codes with my collectors edition but none are for online pass.I wish my memory wasnt fading but I just coudnt remember on my own.Danimal wrote:I seem to recall entering a code but it may of been for DLC not sure.
1)Launch car pack.
2)Bonus Track Pack
3)Limited Edition DLC Content....My NOT worth $20 crap.
So Naples you will be missing out on the first two if you buy used and the guy had used the codes. Some cars and two tracks. I dont know the cars but the tracks are Benchmark and Top gear Playfield.
Re: Forza 4
I tried a few tracks over the weekend and I CANNOT catch you. Futility!!!...but I did shave some times and picked up some credits.GB_Simo wrote: Been meaning to do the Hot Laps for a while having done the Le Mans one a few weeks back. That and the Top Gear Rivals events are very much My Kind Of Thing. They're all from rolling starts now, mate, though that isn't to say I didn't beat you from a standing start too
Also spent some time this morning chasing Dave around two tracks in the Rivals thing. Caught him on one but I gave up on the second. Im just not fast enough. Mans got to know his limitations.

Once again the Rivals stuff are also up my alley and I do enjoy it even with the fails. Thumbs up.
On the downside. Did a couple of pick up online races . Thumbs down.
Guys leaving cars at the starting line ...wtf is that? also some weird laggy cars jumping around. Need a poker night boys!

Re: Forza 4
There's one track in particular, Road America in the Corvette on the Hot Laps, where I'm always a couple of car lengths behind before we even get to the first braking point. Dave's got some crazy fast exit from the last corner that I couldn't quite get worked out. I make it up over the lap, but to sit there and watch time ebbing away when all I'm doing is holding the trigger down and driving straight is really depressing.XXXIV wrote:Also spent some time this morning chasing Dave around two tracks in the Rivals thing. Absolutely. I love the competitive element, I love the tangible rewards for going faster and I love how watching the ghost of the next guy up the leaderboard can be so educational. I found a bunch of time at Road Atlanta watching the ghost lap; through the first half of the lap he was about 4 tenths quicker, which I then made up in the second half, so by figuring out his first few corners I was able to find a big chunk of time on the lap overall. Really good stuff.XXXIV wrote:Once again the Rivals stuff are also up my alley and I do enjoy it even with the fails. Thumbs up.
Still waiting for the World Tour AI to get going. I still like it on Quick Race mode, but can't quite figure out exactly what the adaptive AI is adapting to in the World Tour. Had my first instance of kooky behaviour the other night too, with the leader spearing into the barriers on Hockenheim Grand Prix's second corner and rolling over. Doesn't sound like much, but next time you're racing there, have a look at exactly how much distance a car needs to cover before it ever reaches those barriers...

First off, thanks for the invite. Had to reset some of my lap times to take advantage of a flying start on some of the shorter tracks.XXXIV wrote:On the downside. Did a couple of pick up online races . Thumbs down.

How are the club times determined when comparing club against club?
Regarding online, I've had good luck in the "Turn 10 Select"/"Cycled Production" room. No upgrades or tuning allowed, everyone with the same car. The 3-4 times I've been in those rooms they've been very quick to boot players who don't race clean.
Re: Forza 4
I can't stand chasing Simo's ghost around Indy in the Viper. On any given lap I can pick up time in about half the corners but give it all back and then some in the other half.

Re: Forza 4
You are better than it ever will be. Unless they manage to mangle your car you will probably just keep on winning. I am not as good so I do get bitten by it on occasion. In I think my tenth? season and have lost some of the two heat twelve car races and at least one eight car race in the last few trys.GB_Simo wrote:

There was one race on the Nurbugring grand prix track where they just all piled up on the first turn. I have no idea what the AI was doing there. It was mindless carnage.
Something I have noticed....When we go off of the track we lose our speed (which is good) but it doesnt appear to be the case for the AI car in many/most instances. They just race back on at speed.

I have no idea how they figure out club vs club rankings.F308GTB wrote:First off, thanks for the invite. Had to reset some of my lap times to take advantage of a flying start on some of the shorter tracks.XXXIV wrote:On the downside. Did a couple of pick up online races . Thumbs down.

Thanks for the online tip. I will have to give that a try.
I just logged on to see what seaon Im on and got about 12 rival notices at once from your times.

Re: Forza 4
I gotta admit, the videos on this game look great and I don't even know racing.
Re: Forza 4
I've gone through a bunch of seasons on this thing and for grins started some of the single races from the "event list" portion. Is it just me or is the AI actually more difficult when doing these single events? I can easily come in 1st on the world tour events and have never had to upgrade my cars for those events (i.e., stock only). But the single events is another matter. The stronger AI has made the racing more enjoyable.

Re: Forza 4
I pretty much gave up on "season" mode and I only do the events from the event list. Just seems like it races better as you mentioned.F308GTB wrote:I've gone through a bunch of seasons on this thing and for grins started some of the single races from the "event list" portion. Re: Forza 4
I had read that the challenge of the AI was better in the single events, but after one or two trys several weeks ago I gave up. However, last night I tried to start up again and actually had a really fun race with the AI from start to finish without the ridiculous "running off the road in the last turn" type of behavior. Could that adaptive AI thing in the World Tour mode just be that broken? I am going to just try a few nights of Event List only races at difficult AI level to see what type of consitency I get. If it was anything like last night, it could be a game changer as I had just about given up on doning anything outside of the Rival challenges. I will miss Clarkson's commentary though. For whatever reason, hearing his voice just makes me think I am The Stig.F308GTB wrote:I've gone through a bunch of seasons on this thing and for grins started some of the single races from the "event list" portion. Re: Forza 4
You guys should try season nine. I have lost races in both 8 and 9.
Re: Forza 4
Can someone in the DSP car club fire me an invite? Ace EZ?
I finally got this for my bday and am hopefully going to have some fun with it during the cold winter months here.

Re: Forza 4
Same here. Received it for Christmas and I'm really enjoying it. Question, what do the icons mean that pop up after you've made a pass or turn? Is it judging how well I do those things?
Re: Forza 4
Yeah, and you get credits at the end of races for "race feats" for doing them.fsquid wrote:Same here. Received it for Christmas and I'm really enjoying it. Question, what do the icons mean that pop up after you've made a pass or turn? Is it judging how well I do those things?
Re: Forza 4
ahhh, misseed seeing that. Still a fun, fun game. Wish I knew enough to set up my car though.
Re: Forza 4
I am a little late in seeing this news, but there is a new Forza 4 Time Trials contest where you have the chance to win an actual brand new Hyuandi. It starts with a stock time trial (no tuning) on Jan. 10 and fastest times progress through multiple rounds. More details and links below as the regristation process involves downloading Hyundai Registration gamerpic between now and January 8.
Unfortunately, it is for US residents only, otherwise I would think Adam could have a legitimate shot.

Heh, I also did not realize that the January Jalopnik Pack has been released as well (560 MS Points - $7 USD). Some interesting car choices there. Hope that Ford Pinto does not explode when hit from behind.Hyundai Veloster Time Trials

Re: Forza 4
Well, I set an early time for this Hyundai thing. We'll have to see how long that stays in the top 100 (#89 currently). Crap understeer on the Hyundai. I might be able to yank another second out of a lap.
Re: Forza 4
how come if I drift, I get pinged for a dirty lap?
Re: Forza 4
If you go off track at all, or hit anything at all, then it is a dirty lap. I find it very hard to drift without getting a dirty lap. In fact, unless I am doing the Rival Time Trial Challenges I don't even worry about the dirty lap. It's impossible not to get one when in a race of any kind.
Re: Forza 4
I was doing the rival ones in our club (thanks for the invite) and I didn't go off the track but noticed the exclamation point blinking when I went into a turn too hot and skided.

Re: Forza 4
Playing from memory here, mate, but you shouldn't be getting a dirty lap just for skidding, drifting or anything like that. You can spin and not be given a dirty lap as long as you're always on the track surface, if I'm remembering right.fsquid wrote:I was doing the rival ones in our club (thanks for the invite) and I didn't go off the track but noticed the exclamation point blinking when I went into a turn too hot and skided.
Which track is it?

Re: Forza 4
OK, no one else doing the Hyundai challenge? I know Adam can't since it's US only, but I've got to give a shot out to Adam - invoked his spirit to take over a second off my time. Now if I could only get those 2 seconds to the leader, but it's tough with a standard controller.
