No kidding! Adam is more than 3 minutes ahead of us on the cumulative time for the Top Gear Rivals Time Trial. That is where I have spent the most time and I can't imagine making up one more minute let alone three.

TopGear Rivals - Time Trial

* A Reasonably Priced Car
* The Rally Wild Show
* The Dunsfold Dynamo
* The Senna Special
* The Atlanta Games
* The Virtual Reality
* The Italian Job

You're going to love me for this: I know I've got more time left if you ever need me to find it for the club leaderboards or anything like that.

I haven't had a proper go at all of the challenges - sure I've only had 2 or 3 laps on The Senna Special and not many more on The Italian Job, for example. Added to that, I'm sure my Lord of the Ring time is from a standing start and I know there's 10 seconds in it yet, since I was 10 seconds up on my previous best when I got up on the grass exiting the final corner. I will never know how I didn't cry. I think sub 7 minutes is on if I absolutely nail one, though the odds of me ever doing that are slim.

I tried this game on Kinect at the mall and it was so much fun not holding a wheel. Is there any challenge to this game using Kinect? It seemed pretty easy but wasn't sure if I was on easy mode.

GB_Simo wrote:My own personal annoyance, which I only noticed last night, is that the game auto-upgrades the prize cars it gives you. I've got eleventy bajillion credits to spend, an Auto Upgrade feature if I'm not clued-in enough to pick my own new parts, and yet none of my new prize cars are stock.

I dislike that very much, enough that I'm working through my cars and putting them all back to stock parts. As much as anything else, I'm narked that some of the upgrades change the engine notes - when Turn 10 have put so much into making the game sound right, I want to hear how these cars sound when they leave the factory gates, not when someone's thrown after-market parts at them.

I may however be on my own with this.
You are definitely not on your own with this annoyance. I did not even realize that it was doing that until I re-read your post and checked it out. I know the GT and the Forza series have always been about tuning and upgrades, but I despise that part of it. It's just never been my thing. I would prefer to have them all stock and stay that way so that I can truly appreciate the differences in these cars if I walked into a dealership and took them for a spin. Also, since I am not very smart when it comes to the tuning/upgrade aspect, I have just used the auto upgrade when necessary, but I have never really understood it. Can you basically turn any F class car into Racing class b y upgrades? For example, when looking at the leaderboards for the current community challenge drag race, the top 100 or so times are set by the Mustang King Cobra with a class of either S632, S631, S630. or S629. When you get this car it starts out at a Fsomething, but the most it allows me to upgrade it to is A584. So how does this work? How do you get that car to S632?

I agree and like you I have really no idea what Im doing with upgrades so I have used the auto upgrade on a couple of cars to get them to max them out in their own stock class.

Also another reason I love the Diablo and why I have run so many races with it. It comes stock at S 700 so its NOT upgradeable within its own class. leaving me out of the upgrade equation unless I want to bump up its class which is something I am not planning to with any cars on my own.

I dont mind the stuff is there for those who get a kick out of it. I just go the other way.

There are plenty of stock challenges so that I dont even bother with the upgrade stuff.

I have not raced in a couple of days and I see you guys have given me some work to do.

Did some playing around with this tonight, mate. It appears that when you do an auto upgrade, the game doesn't consider the Conversion section of the upgrade menu, since it gave me an A584 car too. Drop a more modern V8 in there and you're up somewhere around S620 straight away.

I made a bit of a mess of things from there on, converting the transmission in a manner that prohibited me from entering the community drag race. When I put the regular transmission back in, I also had to fit a racing clutch and a racing somethingelse (can't recall what the other part was, unfortunately) to get to S632, but I don't recall whether those parts were already owned from the auto upgrade or whether I was buying them.

Been meaning to do the Hot Laps for a while having done the Le Mans one a few weeks back. That and the Top Gear Rivals events are very much My Kind Of Thing. They're all from rolling starts now, mate, though that isn't to say I didn't beat you from a standing start too :P

Get me on the list dude (ID is F308GTB)! The single player AI is driving me nuts (too freaking easy through the first 6 or so seasons), and ghost times against complete unknowns isn't as fun. BTW, need those poker nights. Been doing some online racing, and the single make, no upgrade races are awesome. Very balanced racing that reminds me of the online days of the original XBOX PGR racing.

I did some downloads when I got the game. Im not sure where the collectors edition stuff ended and where the regular bonus stuff started.

Maybe a few cars and a couple of tracks? I dont think anything that would really limit your game.

Think this one is getting traded. It never ceases to amaze me that I wind up buying this one almost every time it is released, and then it sits on the shelf. I'm just not a sim racer, I guess. I think I enjoy painting the cars more than racing them...lol.

If you or anyone else wants to sell without ebay fees or bad trade-in value or whatever, I am interested.

I'd suggest buying new so as to avoid having to play $10 for the online pass.

I don't recall reading of any online pass for this, and I'm not seeing anything on a google search at the moment.

There's DLC codes with new copies for extra cars, and a $30 season pass for upcoming DLC, but I see no general online pass like EA games.
