I've got a business trip to the east coast and I'm flying out first thing Wed. morning. Timing really couldn't be much worse, but I want in on the action when I get back!!!!!!!

Re: Battlefield 3
I'll be getting it for both the pc and the 360. Luckily I get the 360 version for free from EA...sis has the hookup.
Re: Battlefield 3
Yeah, ditto. Damn travels...right on release day.Wilk5280 wrote:I've got a business trip to the east coast and I'm flying out first thing Wed. morning. Timing really couldn't be much worse, but I want in on the action when I get back!!!!!!!
Re: Battlefield 3
IGN loved the MP. They claim it might be the best ever. SP, on the other hand, is "cliche" and just a rehash of other scenarios other games have already explored.

Gonna fire up BFBC2 one last time later on tonight. I owe it to that game. It gave me hours of fun.

Game looks f***in amazing on the PC. I hate the Origin browser bullshit of EA but the game is sweet.

Damn straight - played an hour of 32 on 32 Caspian Border - bloody incredible. Going to bed but can't wait to play this tomorrow! 64 players is just nuts - jets and choppers flying overhead, tanks, buggys, lions and tigers and bears oh my!Danimal wrote:Game looks f***in amazing on the PC. Re: Battlefield 3
Didn't get a chance to start the download until tonight, but its going fairly quickly. Will be rockin' tomorrow night on the PC and the 360 hopefully.
Re: Battlefield 3
The 360 version is just fine. Fine, indeed. Boy, that texture pack really makes a difference-wow. Some absolutely beautiful vistas. I've GOTTA stop going to these damned midnight launches, though...friggin' 3:30 in the morning now-I'm too old for this s***...

Re: Battlefield 3
Well...I managed to squeeze in about 3 rounds last night. Hmmmmmm...I don't know if I was super tired or cranky but I really disliked the 3 maps I played.
The first one left a super bad impression on me. Not sure the name of it but it starts out with the attacking team having to use boats to get to a shipping dock. It was ugly and seemed to be designed poorly. Ugh.
The next two were city style maps which just felt off for a BF to me. Too close of space or something - which is odd because I liked the map in the demo.

Yeah I don't know how you do it. I went to bed at 11:30 last night and I'm a hurtin' unit this morning.

Re: Battlefield 3
No sh*t. I played RIFT until about 12:15AM, and when my alarm was going off at 6 to be at work at 7, I felt like a flippin' moron. Almost to the level of the morning after a bender..."I won't EVER do that again...".
Right up until the next time.

Re: Battlefield 3
Played about 3 hours now and absolutely loving it except a few maps (so far);
Conquest on Metro which is a f*** - it's only 3 flags (there should be 5) and the middle one is right by the ticket stall/subway lobby so which ever team gets there first pretty much owns the high ground and just mows down the opposition. I played as Assault/Medic and got the second highest score on my team just by reviving people and throwing out med packs - had something like only two kills but 2500+ points!
Also not keen on Tehran Highway as the middle is too cluttered and a meatgrinder (though not on the level of Metro)
Favourite maps so far are Caspian Border and (I think) Canals - which reminds me of Atacama Desert.
Got a bit more time in the jets too - wow, strafing runs are a thrill.
The sound design in this game is phenomenal.
Will be firing up the 360 version this evening and hope to join you guys.

Re: Battlefield 3
You were grumpy and cranky and only played 3 rounds. I played quite a bit yesterday and it took me a bunch of rounds to get comfortable at all, plus the usual process of slowly learning the maps.Spooky wrote:Well...I managed to squeeze in about 3 rounds last night. It's not that I ended up being more effective or playing better

The jets baffle me completely so far.
Re: Battlefield 3
I played a bit more this AM and am not feeling much better. My gripes are strictly around the map design only. I'm not frustrated with struggling, I just feel like the maps I've played are very uninspired and either too confined or too large. It's not horrible, by any means, I was just expecting more 'wow' factor from the new maps I guess. They all feel very industrial or something. Even in the large, open space ones, the actual objectives sit in these generic cargo areas that seem less inspired than previous versions.Zeppo wrote:You were grumpy and cranky and only played 3 rounds. It's not that I ended up being more effective or playing betterbut it got way more fun the more I got used to it. I will say squad play makes a massive difference. When I was with guys who wanted to work together in a squad, it was way more fun. Just little things like taking cover until your mates can spawn on you, or getting in a jeep together instead of me sitting in the drivers seat and watching my squad mates run off to nowhere, you know. Massive difference in fun level.
The jets baffle me completely so far.

Re: Battlefield 3
Is there going to be a DSP Platoon and if so, are you welcoming to players that suck?
I'm on the fence about getting this because I'm just not very good at online shooters, but I want to grab it. As long as I know i can jump online occasionally with you guys, I can handle the good natured ribbing I might get from DSP'ers.

I'm loving Conquest. After playing a couple of weeks straight of Rush on one map during the beta, Conquest is a breath of fresh air. Some of these maps are HUGE, and all that I've played have been beautiful to behold. Dman, you're gonna gush when you get home tonight...lol.

I expect to be on tonight, though I have a phobia about committing to a time.
