I forget about it some times...but...I think its how I get most of my tripping penalties....It does work though.macsomjrr wrote:If you haven't already done so you HAVE to watch the skill stick tutorial. I didn't realize you can move your poke check around if you hold RB and move the RS. Man I'm such a noob:)
Dump and chase maybe the best option for us right now. Like G7 was mentioning , we tend to overcarry the puck in the offensive zone but we don't have the proper support when we lose the puck. Maybe we are overtrying at times.Naples39 wrote:I think the biggest problem for our team in the games I've played are that we don't react to the positioning of our teammates very well. IE, the puck goes to the offensive corner, 2 or 3 forwards go for it, or all 5 defenders attempt to block the pass to the slot and get beat by one pass. I think we need to spread out on offense and D, and then react to our teammates or talk more so we don't constantly have 2 players doing the same thing and leaving huge gaps in our positioning as a result.
I also think the dump and chase might work okay for us because most teams' forwards release very quickly (even on good teams), so if we can cause a turnover down low you almost always get a clean look at goal before the forwards come back and help on defense.
My fingers just watched that and said "you've got to be f'n kidding me..."macsomjrr wrote:Hey you forwards! Learn these!![]()

So I have to coordinate my left index finger to hit the left bumper at the same time my left thumb is going in one direction and my right thumb is going in another direction ... Goalie seems damn appealing to me at this point...

I don't think it is ridiculous. In fact, I think it is a testament to how far they've come that real world strategies are applicable in the game. We have definitely had stretches where our attention to fundamentals has resulted in sustained pressure or a big clear on defense. While the game is not perfect, it is pretty damn good and fun.RallyMonkey wrote:This may sound ridiculous, but if anyone is serious enough to want to work on their game and would like some instruction, i'd be happy to run a controlled scrimmage some night to work on positioning in each zone, etc.
I'd be down to get some hockey schoolin. It'd be interesting to see how it would affect our results.RallyMonkey wrote:

All they kept doing was doing a stick move followed by a quick wrist shot. It seemed as if every time they did a stick move the goalie would commit and they'd wrist it to the opposite side. They might have been doing it from different spots on the ice (which actually scares the hell out of me since it will work anywhere) but they were doing the same thing over and over. As soon as they had a clear view of the net they'd flick the stick and then wrist it in. To make matters worse I couldn't hear any of you guys in chat. EA needs to patch this because it will ruin OTP with cpu goalies. Did you notice that in the pregame lobby as soon as they saw we didn't pick goalie that they said "Ha, we're going to kill you guys." If that was the first we saw of it then it won't be long before we keep seeing it.RobVarak wrote:I'd be more aggravated about it if I could replicate the glitch LOL And while all the goals seemed to beat the GK the same way, they were from different spots on the ice. I agree they were up to something, but I'll be damned if I could figure it out.
OTOH there was a noticable improvement in both play and results over the weekend. We're keeping almost every game close, allowing far, far fewer goals and generating chances. We even had a shutout last night (albeit with a CPU goalie).
