Did not know that....Good start for the Phils,Typical start for Kazmir. Needs to start getting ahead of the hitters. .... Rays in 7,although I think the Phils win tonite..... This will be a good series. Both teams have speed, good defense, bullpens, and balanced offenses. The Rays starters 1-4 is where I see the edge for TB. But I've been wrong before.Diablo25 wrote:Guess who lost it...Lidgesnaz16 wrote:Rather ironic that Kazmir gets the ball for game 1,after getting the win in the All Star game to secure home field for the AL.![]()

This is going to be a long series.
On another note - does anyone else find the FOX's presentation a little...prehistoric? Everything from the graphical overlays, fonts, etc...just seems dated to me. Even the music seems early 90's-ish. Add this all to the vey mediocre commentary by Sutcliffe and ?, and it just feels like a huge letdown. Obviously the games more than make up for it, but the whole experience could be really enhanced by a great broadcast.

I think Fox's presentation of the game is pretty bad too, and the announcers are terrible. Luckily I can turn on my radio and hear Harry Kalas call the plays, so it's all good.
Man, the Phils did not look good last night. No way they win leaving all those guys in scoring position. They don't have much time to get it going!

Phillies are impossible to predict. Every time you think they're falling apart they go on a run. Going for 1-28 with RISP seems impossibly bad and sounds like a choke job, but it wouldn't surprise me at all to see the Phillies score a bunch of runs early in game 3.
There are two ways to look at what's happened;
1) we're not hitting well and it's just a matter of time before it catches up to us and we lose
2) we're not getting the job done and it's still only 1-1, so as soon as we get going we should win a few in a row.
I can only hope it's the latter.

3) Your playing a team that won 97 games in argueably the best division in baseball..Naples39 wrote:Phillies are impossible to predict. Every time you think they're falling apart they go on a run. 5) Your playing a team that C. Crawford and E. Longoria, and others went down with injuries, that everyone was ready to bury this bunch, but it never happened...
It is possible that if the Phils go down, they're getting beat by a better team.
But thats ok,,thats how the Rays like it

1 thing I do hope for though,is that when "The Show 09" demo comes out, they have the Rays and Philly in Citizens Bank Park.
You can make all the predictions you want about the Rays or the Phils. They are both good teams that deserve to be there. I don't give a s*** what the Rays did during the regular season...if they win the series they are the better team - period....and then I will congratulate all 37 true Rays fans out there
. I will not be shocked if the Phils or Rays win.

Just wanted to correct this earlier post. I didn't realize that it was MLB International who was broadcasting with Sutcliffe. The Fox broadcast is much better, despite a senile Tim McCarver.fanatic wrote:This is going to be a long series.![]()

Definitely a blown call, but don't think it should be a focus considering all of the errors, lack of hitting plus the fact that Sonnanstine should have either thrown to second to start the double play or at least thrown it to Longoria much earlier. Not sure why he waited so long.10spro wrote:I hope that the lousy call by the umpire doesn't decide the final outcome of the game. Longoria clearly made the tag.
The umpires have not had a good series. The blown tag call tonight, the awful safe call for Crawford last night, and the strike zone has been really inconsistent. As someone who watches a ton of baseball, none of this is a surprise but it would be nice if MLB could actually put together a competent crew for the World Series.
Nice to see Matt Stairs get a World Series at bat.

I totally agree. The umpiring has been borderline embarrassing.Dave wrote:The umpires have not had a good series. Right now the obvious blown calls are in favor of the Rays 3 to 1. It is amazing to me how the Phillies keep winning these games. In Game 3, the Phillies practically put on a clinic on how NOT to win a game; don't hit with RISP, make baserunning mistakes (getting picked off 2nd late in a tie game), let the other team turn bad calls into runs (the Crawford mis-call ended up costing the Phils 2 runs), yet they still won. Now the Phillies bats awakened for at least one night and we get a blow out.
Driving home from the game last night down Broad Street was a labyrinth of honking horns and people standing on the middle divider and sidewalks yelling and fist-pumping. No doubt many Philadelphians expect this thing to end tonight with Hamels on the mound. I'll be going to the game again tonight and I have high hopes of seeing Philly's championship drought of 20+ years end tonight!!

No game tickets for us, but we stopped by the ballpark Saturday morning since we were at my wifes parents place and my father-in-law wanted to get some Phillies stuff with the World Series logo on them.
I think the Phils have a real chance tonight. Now that the sleeping giant Ryan has been awakened, things just got a whole lot more difficult for the Rays. Plus with Hamels on the mound tonight they will really need to play good ball. Still, they have shown the ability to hang tough, so I expect a good game.

You lucky SOB. (Ha! I didn't see Lexbur's post when I made this one...) I was thinking about hopping on the subway and heading down to the stadium tonight just to watch the insanity if the Phils win. Probably won't have the time, but I may just walk to Broad St. and watch the insanity...Naples39 wrote:Driving home from the game last night down Broad Street was a labyrinth of honking horns and people standing on the middle divider and sidewalks yelling and fist-pumping.
