Wow, that stinks. OS is going on about this as well. That keeps it from being a purchase in my book. It's like racing games with serious rubber-band AI...you can apparently suck it up early, the AI will come down to your level, and then you can tighten up late to win the tourneys. That's nuts. The scoring of the AI should be based on difficulty level.spooky157 wrote:Yeah, that is majorly screwy...but I did miss the cut on one of my first tour events with a +14. There's no denying that the way they have the rubber band AI in the tourneys has got to go next year.Danimal wrote:I shot a +38 in my first 2 rounds of the PGA tour event first stop and made the cut

I have the game and its a deal breaker for me as well. Had I remembered about the rubber band leaderboard from past editions I would not have bought it to begin with. There is no reason or incentive at all to play the single player career. It makes me totally disinterested while playing in tournaments, and being disinterested is not what I look for while playing a game.webdanzer wrote:Wow, that stinks. Its a shame because they really did some good things this year with the game.

Easy? No, my 40% golfer finished at 50 something over in the first Tourney and finished last, but the leader beat me by about 20 or so strokes. So yes, they do play to how you are playing but once you start playing better I can see this not being much of an issue... for me.MizzouRah wrote:but if it's that easy..

BigBerthaEA had this to say over at the OS forums....."Don't try to tell me to learn to accept anything about the PC version since it is being ripped apart by users on every TW PC-related forum. This year's version is a shell of its former self and is the worst version I have seen since TW2002 which was a disaster."DivotMaker wrote:07 is far and away better than 06, IMO.Zlax45 wrote: SO what is the consensus stay with 06 with the PC or upgrade to 07?

That is my username on OS and that is what I said about the PC version and I stand by those comments.btmmayor wrote:BigBerthaEA had this to say over at the OS forums....."Don't try to tell me to learn to accept anything about the PC version since it is being ripped apart by users on every TW PC-related forum. In my response above, I should have indicated that I was referring to the 360 version which is what the majority of discussion has been centered on.
I have been following the PC discussions since I have been tempted to check out the 07 PC version. I took Zlax45's question to be for the PC so that had me a little confused. From all that I've read, the consensus on that seems to be to stick with 06.DivotMaker wrote:That is my username on OS and that is what I said about the PC version and I stand by those comments.

And yeah, 07 on the 360 is far, far superior to the 06 offering. Its so good in fact that I may actually be able to live with the rubber-band leaderboards during tournaments............maybe.

If I were you, I would stay away from the 07 PC version. The ball lie effects do not have any impact on the shot result which is a MAJOR issue to me. Plus the game has numerous bugs in the Team Tour and with only 12 courses (only 6 new) there is not much variety for PGA TOUR Season mode. Oh and one more thing....rumor is EA is not going to release the Course Architect for 07 nor a fix for the pre-07 courses that do not render correctly in 07 due to a change in how the panoramas are done. Lastly, I have a bad feeling that EA is going to do whatever it can to avoid patching the issues with the game.....stay away from 07 and stick with 06 for now would be my recommendation.btmmayor wrote:

That is just insane. This is the same basic game engine as 06 correct? I know nothing about game programming but wouldn't this actually take effort to take OUT of the game? Is that going to be a feature listed on the back of the box for 08? (New this season....ball lie now impacts shot result!!!!!)DivotMaker wrote:If I were you, I would stay away from the 07 PC version. Its really a shame. The Tiger PC series with Headgate at the helm has been the best golf game on the market and one of the best PC games period. Something as major as no side hill effects for a golf sim is unacceptable, especially since its been in the game for years now. I guess the PC game has just become an afterthought.

Say hello to the first year with no community beta test. It was unintentional to leave it out, but EA chose to drop community beta testing this year to save money and it is going to cost them dearly in lost sales. I have never seen a TW PC release that has gone as badly this early as this one. What a shame....btmmayor wrote:That is just insane. This is the same basic game engine as 06 correct? Ah, that at least makes more sense. To intentionally take something like side hill lie effects out of the game would be ridiculous. I'm not sure I like the idea of 07 on the PC tanking sales wise though as far as the future of the franchise is concerned.

2004, 2005 or 06?
Best gameplay = 06
I'd love to hear more detailed info on this response if you don't mind. Such as, what about 04's overall package makes it better than 06's...especially if 06 has the better gameplay etc.
Thanks man.

04 has a much better PGA TOUR Season mode. It has the ability to to have 72 hole tournaments with any course, where in 05, they reduced that to 18 holes maximum (still don't understand that move).PRBoom wrote:

04 had 18 courses instead of 12 in 06.
06 has the best version of TrueSwing to date (07's is a tad better but the lack of sidehill lies makes this a moot point). 06 still has online play support EASO (yuck what a POS online service). Both have IP to IP functionality.
The best part about 06 is that you can import all the 04/05 courses into 06 as long as you have the Course Architect and Library Creator installed with the game. If I had to choose, I would play 06 and find 04/05 in the bargain bin and get my additional courses that way.
The 360 version is a HUGE hit in the Leebo household. I even had to buy a third controller so my wife could play at the same time as my son and me. One thing that would be great is if I could play on the hardest setting and my son on the easiest. Is that possible? Right now we settle for "balanced" which actually isn't *that* easy even with Pros except for a few times a round the ball is magnetically drawn to the cup for an ace or eagle.

Finally had some time yesterday to creat my golfer and start seeing what this game is about.
Despite having a hole in one already, the game is still the fun casual golf game Tiger has set out to be. I've been mostly practicing and gaining cash to get better gear, so I haven't played an AI opponent yet, but so far it's fun and the graphics look great on the 360.
I think I'll get more out of this title on the weekends when friends come over... but for now, the solo play is definitly good.
