As for graphics, I saw both last night at the store, I really don't see any difference other than color pallet and I like the XB1 brighter colors better. I'd be interested to hear what you think makes the PS4 graphically superior.
My main concern and focus was on the framerates (which ultimate fall into the graphics category). It's especially apparent in transition scenes and when you run the no huddle. I also prefer the more subtle colors (it's like people who prefer OLED screens to LCD). The textures of the grass seems better as well, especially with the degradation of the field. Reflections are a little more detailed too.

Now, all this could be television related too. I am running my XB1 on my Samsung 60" 4K TV...so the upscaling may be ruining the visuals to a point (especially with a lower starting resolution on the XB1 vs PS4). The PS4 is on my 1080P 55" TV. That upscaling doesn't affect the framerates though, so being that that is the most important graphical property, then I still prefer the PS4 version, looser controls and all.
Thanks I get it. Reminds me of last year. The only slowdown last year in the XBO vs PS4 was in the replays. And the PS4 version of EA games have slightly better lighting and a little more detail of the graphics showing up, like sweat etc.. I prefer the XBO color scheme too since I like my videogames bright and colorful. But sounds like not that big of a difference. I'll still try the PS4 version out either at BB or PS4 Share.

I'm going to pick up the game on the PS4, for no other reason that I have an extra controller (only have one on the Xbox 1) and I like using the Gold Headset wireless. I don't foresee playing online much at all, primarily because I'm very happy with how it plays against the CPU. I still have a few hours left actually on my EA Access, so I suppose I can compare the two versions but I don't think there will be much difference.

Reading about major franchise problems with this game. I.e. Rookies coming in with stats above and beyond the best RBs and QBs in the league, QBs running anywhere from 15-22 times a game. EA is aware and looking in to these and other issues.

sportdan : I think i'll pickup the ps4 version for my bedroom. Thanks for the heads up. I also saw that franchise problems. Pasta Padre's twitter reported it. Basically EA is saying don't play franchise mode until we fix it in the next 2-3 weeks. No biggie for me. I'm more of a season guy so don't really care about progression and stuff.

I couldn't load the updated tuner set on XBL. Anyone else have this problem?

The hard copy for XBO came w/ a 2 day XBL Gold trail too.

dbdynsty25 wrote:Yeah after playing the XB1 version for a few hours during the trial and now actually picking up the PS4 version...it's literally no contest in terms of graphics and framerates. The PS4 is far superior.

That said, I still feel the control on the XB1 is more precise for whatever reason. It was the same last year as well. No idea what kinda secret sauce they are using for controls, but they just feel tighter.

Even so, obviously I'm sticking with the PS4. Nothing worse than bad framerates. It's not nearly as noticeable if you don't see the PS4 version to compare it to so if you've only got an XB1...just don't play the PS4 version. You'll be fine.

Thank god they finally, finally fixed most of the boundary plays so the players interact properly with them. The receiving and DB game is SO much improved it's worth the price alone.
I think you snort coke or something.. I have zero frame rate issues on Xb1... we all know you're a Sony fanboy.. but seriously.. NO CONTEST in terms of graphics and frame rates?

I assume you mean in simulated games because I haven't seen this while playing an actual game. I'm not sure about the rookie ratings I do know that injuries seem to be non existent and auto subs doesn't seem to be as effective in franchise as play now.

Sony Fanboy, really? I've got two f*cking XB1s in my house right now, one PS4...if I were a fanboy, why would I have even ONE XB1?

I can literally toggle between both games and see a noticeable difference. Have you done that personally? Fine, you are cool w/ how the XB1 performs...well head to head, I'm not. It's been that way with most cross platform games. That's not being a fanboy, that's just fact.

Metacritic scores mean jack s*** btw because 9 times out of 10, probably more than that, are only playing the ONE version they own.

I tried some MUT single player and so far it's even better than last year. Seems like they're making it easier for you to get Packs this year. I've erased M15 from my HD as well.

Glad you pointed that out -- I am a big franchise player and the rookie rating issue pretty bad. Glad to hear they are getting it patched. I do like that online franchise can be tweaked pretty quickly without a formal patch.

It still amazes me that one guy can make a game like Front Office Football that can create very realistic ratings and stats, but EA's entire team always seems to have problems with some fundamental issue in franchise like stats or ratings.

I went ahead and picked up the PS4 version. Hopefully the controls/movements won't be too bad. FYI, Ebay is selling both versions for $49.99 each via Buy.com with free shipping.

The lack of injuries is concerning through 3 pre-season games. I also must say and this is probably in my head but since buying the disc based version of the game I feel like it is playing a lot more jerky.

When I put it in there was no install or anything it just used my EA Access install but something feels off. I don't know if it's worth it to delete the EA Access version and do a fresh install or not.

the injury thing is known, for both systems. EA says they'll get a fix out in the next few weeks.

I too thought I had a weird copy but it was just I was too tired after work when playing. I took some time off, went back to disc, and it played just like the EA Access version.

I also did a H2H game vs a random and looks like Ea is not taking any crap this year online. I was up like 16-0 on the guy waiting to kick my PAT. the guy kept jumping offsides on purpose. After the 3rd time, EA servers booted him off the game and I got a win. nice to see this.

Ok People, calm down. I can take a hint okkkkaaayyy.

I know you all want me to buy the PS4 version and do the comparison between the PS4 and XBO Madden copies like I do yearly with all multi platform sports games.

It's okay to just ask next time instead of p***y footing around it. :)

[Jack Black Head Shake]I'll go ahead , first thing tomorrow morning, buy the PS4 version, and do my comparison magic for everyone [/Jack Black Head Shake]

I should have a report back to you all by the weekend.

You can thank me later.

Half kidding.. I just get tired of hearing how much better the ps4 is over the xb1.. like the xb1 looks like Atari football and the ps4 is running at 4k resolution or something. None of those reviews I read say anything about the ps4 version performing better than the xb1. Oh well.. it was a long day of work and I was just being a grumpy ass. :)

Draft mode loves it some Colt McCoy.

The 3rd game team CPU had him AND Tommy f***in' Brady and kept the GOAT on the bench...

I played a H2H Draft Champions game last night. I went with a coach whose defensive style was RS, and I loaded up on defenders. I went overboard, and had the ultimate LB corps, with Kahlil Mack and Justin Houston on the outside, and Derrick Johnson and Ray Lewis on the inside. I also had Ngata at my NT. On offense I failed to draft a HB. I mistakenly passed on Alfred Morris, and was then never offered another HB. I ended up with Flacco and three good WRs, and one or two OL.

I was then matched up with an opponent that had drafted Christian Okoye, and proceeded to try to run the ball up the middle over and over. And when he dropped back to pass, he had no time and I sacked him like crazy.

Offensively, I wasn't much better. It came down to field position, as twice I pinned him inside his 5 with punts. Late in the 2nd quarter it was still 0-0 when I came up with an INT in great filed position. I was able to move the ball and score late, heading into the second half with a 7-0 lead, and I was receiving in the second half kickoff. After the return, my opponent conceded. That was a bummer, but I don't think he was going to score with the offense he had. But at the same time, I wasn't going to be able to chew clock very easily.

So, one win down. This is a fun mode. It would be even better if you could play a friend, and you could watch each other draft before taking the field. Then it could become even more strategic. As it is now, you build a team and hope for the best. My opponent just happened to run into a guy that built a defense specifically designed to stop his offense. But it's not like I did it on purpose. I got lucky.

H2H Draft Mode idea: It would be cool if there were 3 cards shown for each team to select from and you alternated being able to pick from those 3 cards first each round. Be some cool strategy there.

I personally don't see much if any difference between the PS4 and Xbox 1 version, none that I would say in which one is better than the other. The colors do seem to be a little more muted on the PS4, perhaps the controls are little tighter on the Xbox One, and maybe the frame rate is slightly smoother on the PS4 (but that could be in my head), but that's really all I have noticed thus far.

Come on Dan, it was said "it's literally no contest in terms of graphics and framerates. The PS4 is far superior".

I found that hard to believe... maybe it's the TV's or something. I really don't give a s***.. but I grow tired of hearing about on the OS forums.

Anyone try out the Quick Play option? I believe the option is chosen right before the game. It skips cut scenes such as replays and penalties. Speeds up the games and gives a nice pace to the game. It takes some immersion out of the game, but I kinda didn't mind that.

I saw this in play now but had no idea what it did.

Can someone tell me how people are going in game and recording instant replays they control?
