OK got one game in and it's a progression of last years game. It's still a lot of fun to play. LMAO at my first achievement "throw first and aim later".
The game is a lot better in that the CPU plays better offense and that's on all defaults. My Marlins were losing to the Rays 10-0 in the 9th. In last years game I never lost. The CPU does some knucklehead moves. The Rays left their starting Pitcher in the 9th and allowed me to score 4 runs with no outs before bringing someone in. You would think even with a shutout going the CPU would not hesitate bringing the Closer at the first sign of trouble. The only glaring thing about the situation was the SP had a pitch count of about 75 pitches going into the 9th. Maybe the CPU is looking more at pitch count rather than signs of trouble.
Some of the animations look a lot better and some look way off. For instance an infielder running towards the crowd trying to catch a popup fly ball heading towards the seats. I saw the player zig-zag and did a 360 before giving up for the ball as it was well into the crowd.
My Player for the most part is exactly the same as last year. The commentary is starting to sound like last year and the year before but overall is the best of any sports game including NBA 2K11 and The Show.
I like the way the ball travels and the variety of hits. The CPU for the most part plays a better game than last year. The big draw for me is MLB Today
Is MLB 2K11 worth the $60..no, not if you have last years game and MLB Today means nothing to you. For $33 MLB 2K11 is one helluva deal this year.
