I guess it's between him and Mo Williams for that vacated All-Star spot. They're the two biggest snubs. My guess is it'll probably go to Allen. Apparently the Celtics don't have enough guys on the All-Star team already.jLp vAkEr0 wrote:Ray Ray does it again.

Guy has been the difference for the Cavs this year.
I jinxed Elton Brand with al lthe hypothetical trade talk. Reports are now saying out for the rest of the season with shoulder surgery. Total bummer, but the 76ers will have to run with the youngsters and see how it goes. I hope they don't throw in the towel and trade Andre Miller before the deadline.
Also, Ray ALeen got the All-Star spot of the injured Jameer Nelson. Two years running he gets named this way. He deserves it, but shame Mo or Z or another Cav couldn't also get a nod. Rashard Lewis doesn't deserve it.

Actually, before last year he's been rather durable - 80, 79 & 81 the prior three, and overall missed something like 50 of the first 650 of his career.jLp vAkEr0 wrote:Why would this surprise anybody?EZSnappin wrote:I jinxed Elton Brand with al lthe hypothetical trade talk. When's the last season this guy has played injury free for a whole year?
He was pretty much a rock for the Clippers until he went down for good last season.EZSnappin wrote:Actually, before last year he's been rather durable - 80, 79 & 81 the prior three, and overall missed something like 50 of the first 650 of his career.jLp vAkEr0 wrote:Why would this surprise anybody?EZSnappin wrote:I jinxed Elton Brand with al lthe hypothetical trade talk. The Lakers/Celtics game has me thinking the Lakers finally have a shot this year. Will the Celtics turn it on come playoff time? Can the Lakers win the series without Bynum? Can the Clippers win it all? OK i threw that last one in for fun
I have watched a ton of games this year while my 2.5 year old son and I play on his 6 foot basketball hoop next to the TV. Between the NBA channel, ESPN, TNT and ABC there are games on almost nightly.
I have to say that I haven't enjoyed basketball this much in years. The last few seasons have been trending back to the way it was in the early-mid 80's before the Pistons/Knicks fuglied the game so much.
Gregg, you are correct, what a line-up of games!
The Lakers/Celtics match-up was a blast to watch...even with all the ticky/tack fouls.
If I am home tomorrow, I will be sure to watch both games as my boy and I play.

Lakers deal Radmanovic to Bobcats for Morrison and Brown
El Segundo, CA (Sports Network) - The Los Angeles Lakers acquired forward Adam Morrison and guard Shannon Brown from the Charlotte Bobcats in exchange for forward Vladimir Radmanovic on Saturday.
Morrison was taken third overall by the Bobcats in the 2006 NBA Draft following a decorated collegiate career with Gonzaga, earning unanimous First Team All-America honors and garnering multiple National Player of the Year awards in his senior season.
The 24-year-old showed flashes of talent in his rookie campaign, averaging 11.8 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 29.8 minutes with 23 starts in 78 games. However, Morrison missed the entire 2007-08 season after suffering a torn ACL in his left knee during the preseason and has played sparingly this season. In 44 games, Morrison is averaging 4.5 points and 1.6 rebounds in 15.2 minutes.
In 122 career games, Morrison is averaging 9.1 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 24.5 minutes.

What did everyone think of the dunk contest? I thought it paled in comparison to last year's. No "wow" factor. Howard seems to have run out of ideas. I thought Nate was great. Rudy Fernandez did the best dunk of the night and was robbed. Dwight's first dunk was nothing special and he gets all 10's??? Seems like the fix was in from the judges. Luckily the public voted correctly.
Bibby disappointed me with the 3 point contest and that H.O.R.S.E. game was pretty lame. On the other hand, I thought the rookie/soph game was outstanding.
Looking forward to the big game tonite.
p.s. can you believe Oden is hurt again?

Any exhibition is a joke. This weekend was no exception - poor shooting at the 3-point contest, zone defense during the game, dunk contest shenanigans, Tony Parker not even bothering in the skills comp.
I'll talk about the games that matter, even throw out trade ideas that upset people, but All-Star weekend is crap. Not pro bowl level of garbage, but I haven't cared for it since I was 12 or so.

Yeah, the All-Star game this year seems like nothing more than a pointless week-long interruption of what has so far been an extremely entertaining regular season. I'm sure the players enjoy the time off, but I'm guessing most fans are anxious to get back to the games that count.
And poor Mike Brown yesterday. That guy preaches defense, defense, defense. All he could do yesterday was smile and shake his head.

I've been watching NBA games, but didn't bother with All-Star weekend.
The game is like those pickup games where nobody really tries hard for whatever reason. Boring.
Something wrong when NBA players put showmanship and become prop comics instead of athletes.
But this is what Stern's NBA is about.
Speaking of which, it's his 25th year:

I can't stand any of the all-star games. They made sense in the era when you couldn't see the stars regularly, but now they are fairly mindless.
I did record a bunch of the old dunk contests that the NBA channel ran. I still love watching the Spud Webb contest.
As for not watching a lot of NBA, I don't get a lot of Bulls games because I live out of market, and when I do see them, it's games like the Miami game that they lost on Marion's unopposed dunk. And now it seems like they won't get Stoudemire, so their front-court woes will continue.

To be fair, Marion actually dunked ON someone, but he shouldn't have had a clear path to the basket in the first place. And Amar'e never was going anywhere...Porter being fired was the big issue in Phoenix. But hey...I assume if the Suns get blown away with an offer, they would take it. But Drew Gooden, Ty Thomas and other crap filler isn't gonna get it done.Brando70 wrote:As for not watching a lot of NBA, I don't get a lot of Bulls games because I live out of market, and when I do see them, it's games like the Miami game that they lost on Marion's unopposed dunk. I was surprised that those talks went as far as they did, because if I was running the Suns, there is no way I would make that trade. But NBA franchises do stupid things, like say trading a chance to grab LaMarcus Aldridge for Tyrus Thomasdbdynsty25 wrote:To be fair, Marion actually dunked ON someone, but he shouldn't have had a clear path to the basket in the first place. However, I am glad the Bulls drafted Rose over Beasley, even though they needed the front-court help more. I really think Rose is going to be special and I hope Chicago can get him some low post players who can score consistently. As much as I would like to believe Tyrus Thomas's recent surge is a sign of things to come, I don't think he's got the skills to sustain that production over the long term. I hope I'm wrong about that.

Yeah, Rose was an outstanding pick...the pick of Del Negro left a lot to be desired though. Just like the Suns with Terry Porter. I wonder when the Bulls will realize that VDN isn't the answer for them.Brando70 wrote:However, I am glad the Bulls drafted Rose over Beasley, even though they needed the front-court help more. I do think TT is finally starting to put it together. That game last week against the Heat was pretty impressive. He showed me a lot. I of course was watching intently, because there were rumors of Amar'e for Beasley/Marion and the Tyrus Thomas stuff, so I wanted to watch a little more intently. TT was way more impressive to me. Sure, he's in year 3 and Beasley is in year 1, but TT was much more well rounded and a lot better on D, which is what the Suns would need if they ship Amar'e out.
I guess I'm in the majority here, but I usually enjoy NBA Allstar weekend a lot. But this year, I thought the Rookie/Soph game was the best to watch. Seems like they actually try hard, because the Sophs don't want to loose to the Rookies and the Rookies would love to beat the Sophs.
Did anyone catch that H.O.R.S.E. competition. Was utter horse-sh*t

Didn't watch the all-star game besides the highlights. Shaq and Kobe looked very cute together maybe they really have kissed and made up.
Anyway... as a Clipper fan I've gotta say I was a big fan of Corey Magguette while he was with the team but after seeing this classic Corey sequence I'm reminded why we let him go. You've got to watch this it really is unbelievable.
