You've got to concentrate to hit the ball strait.
Is anyone seeing shots that are just a little off from straight in 07? The thing I can't stand about using the stick to swing is that there is just not enough swing variation. With console Links and Tiger either you hit it straight or you are way off into the bush.
I don't care how hard a golf game is around the green, if I can hit every fairway then thats not golf. If Tiger 07 360 can give me a good variety of hits off the tee other than very good and very bad then I'm interested.

When you come of of the Gameface utility, your attributes are pretty low across the board. EA has really changed how you increase attributes in this version as it is all based on completing events and doing training events at the Training Facility. So far as I can see at the level I am at (Rookie), I am not in control of how the attributes are distributed and applied. They are based on the type of event you accomplish, not on money won as in past games.
In Tiger Challenge, it took me five attempts to beat the first scenario using TOUR difficulty. The second one took me 4 attempts. The third one took 10 attempts and the only way I could beat it with the attributes I had built was to lower the difficulty 2 notiches to "Balanced". I finally beat the scenario and Bandon Dunes and then played Annika Sorenstam in a match play at Princeville and got beat 3&1 while even in "Balanced" difficulty. I don't think I will go back to TOUR difficulty until I get my attributes up quite a bit more than I have now, especially power.

So far, from playing with the game for 6 hours, I have yet to have a problem find the rough and/or OB off the tee. As PR stated, you better concentrate on each and every shot, especially in TOUR difficulty.
I love the fact that shaping your shot out of the box is impossible. I tried to hit a draw and snapped it 120 yards into the trees on the left. Hit a fade.....yeah right. My first three holes were, ready for this, 7, 11, 7. Yup, 11. "Settled in" after that and only made bogey and doubles over the next few. (All on Tour Difficulty mind you).
If any of you are finding the fairway with ease on Tour or even Balanced, more power to you because i flat out suck right now (which i actually like)
I made the switch from PC Tiger to Console Tiger...so this is my first time playing console golf. I immediately set it to tour difficulty and am having a lot of fun with this game. Right when I popped the game someone sent me an invite to play online. He used his created guy that still had horrible stats and I had to use a pro so I chose John Daly (arkansas connection). Before xbox live booted us we had completed I think 10 or 11 holes at Sawgrass. He was +7/8 and I was already +15. I had hit only one or two fairways and about the same number of greens. And the putting was killing me....with alot of 3 putts.
After we got booted I created a golfer and started the training excerises and was having fun just doing those. I completed the first tiger challenge beating Mike Wier in a 9 hole match play 2up. My average drive with my low attributes about 240. Downhill and sidehill lies definitely factor in.
Overall I am glad I made the switch. It was so much more fun to me playing on the couch in front of a 48" tv, than on my office chair and having to make sure my arm was resting just right so I could have a good true swing with the mouse.

I'll echo the early praise, I only played this a little last night on Tour difficulty but it was really challenging. I had to sit up and concentrate on every shot, no laying back on the couch this year.
I like that power boost and spin are turned off in tour mode, maybe they were last year i don't recall. but the shot stick is definetly harder to hit the sweet spot with.
also love how my attributes increase, paying for them is gone and i love that. I want to try this online soon.

And how much harder is Tour than the demo difficulty? I'm not a stickler for exact realism, I'm looking more for fun and game that won't get easy to master in two weeks.
I agree, it is VERY tough with the beginning attributes. I played Princeville from the black tees on the second difficulty setting and shot something like 112. But, there were a few things that concerned me after this first 18:
1. I chipped in from the tee once (after hitting OB on the first shot) for what would have been a hole-in-one. I had two other incredible chip-ins on other holes. Either it's a strange coincidence or it happens way too often. Similarly, on the approach challenge, I tried twice and was closest to pin each time except for when the opponent holed out both times.
2. On one of the last par-4s, I think #14, it was impossible to finish the hole even with a stiff wind at my back, as my golfer could not clear the OB to reach the fairway. I'm fairly certain this will be the case for anyone who plays this hole without beefing up attributes first. I'd love someone to prove me wrong.
3. Side-of-hill lies still don't seem to have any affect on your shot.
There are a lot of great little touches. I hit a spectator where you wouldn't want to be hit and it was hilarious watching him double over in pain. The create-a-face is realistic enough to be pretty spooky, and some of the freaks you can generate are pretty funny. I love the ability to change the pitch of your voice.
The graphics are nice, but for some reason I'm not as floored as I was with the demo. Things like tree branches and leaves look nasty up close.
This might have possibilities for online, but I hate to think what will happen when rookies go up against folks that paid to max out their attributes. Sounds like a recipe for frustration.
Blub,
You played on balanced difficulty level? If so, try the tour difficutly. I definitley saw an effect with side hill lies. I can see how you would see chips-ins on balanced, it is the second easiest level.
There are four levels...rookie (or something like that), balanced, hard, and then tour difficulty.

Picked up the 360 version, played just the Prince's Course and I had a difficult time with it. The greens were quite fast and although I could read the breaks well, my speed was way too quick. But I like how you are supposed to read the greens in this version unlike past years, where with the CPU help you could pretty much putt and score.
Graphics wise the course and Tiger were top notch. I would have liked to hear more chirping from the birds and echos of the wind but I am just being picky. Although it doens't affect the gameplay, when a ball is about to hit the crowd it would have been nice to hear a FORE and have the fans run for their life, instead the camera just focuses on how the ball would hit the unfortunate fan. And when it does, the animation is quite funny as the victim cries Ouch.
For 200 points I also downloaded the extra golfers, although by the time I finished building my face, my little one was crying for attention. I would have liked to see who are the extra characters.
So far so good, played the highhest difficulty and I struggled, especially with the greens at Prince.
Truth, thanks and you're probably right that upping the level would cut down on the chip-ins, but that's a ways off seeing how I shot a 112.
10, did you play from the black tees? If so, how did you make it past that par 4 over the ravine in the back nine I mentioned? I still don't see anyway to do it.

Oh no, I took my maximum shots there, I did hit from the blacks though, but that was one tough SOB. I eventually changed clubs to a 3 wood and don't keep trying to power your Driver as I did, it won't work.
My 3 1/2 year old absolutely loves this game. It's a great game to play with a child since it is so easy to learn. The bad news as far as difficulty is that on all the hardest settings my preschooler got an eagle with Tiger Woods on one of his first holes (ended at +41 so it must have been luck...LOL). The good news is that daddy shot a few *over* par with another one of the Pros and only had a couple birdies
What is the deal with Tiger online? I can't even get into a lobby, much less create a match. The screen goes all jumpy, and all I can do at that point is go back to the dashboard. Mix has seen the same thing. Anyone else?
I wouldn't worry too much about eagles and chip-ins on Tour level. Especially if they don't happen every round. Hell, I've even had a few eagles in chip ins in real life.

ONE lobby?! That's ridiculous.
If true, I agree. However, keep in mind that XBL just went through an upgrade and there are always kinks to work out of Tiger online the first week or so. Also keep in mind that you got that from the game's XBox.com TW forum. Not everything posted there is factual and in some cases far from it.
That being said, online play support and performance are NOT one of EA's strong suits....

True enought, but that's an absolutely staggering fact. You have dozens of miniscule to small developers who can pull XBL integration off beautifully, but this bloated, foul behemoth screws up in title after title.
