Given XBox PES5 works on European 360s, there probably isn't too much work required to get XBox WE9 backwards compatable on North American 360's.
Let's petition Microsoft to get working on this title, if nothing else to prevent the diabolical FIFA:RTWC being the only soccer that we can play on the 360.

No s***. I know what soccer is. This is more than just 1-0 games. This is videogame 1-0 scorelines there's a big difference. For me its happening more than just to be normal.
If you're having trouble scoring try using "auto" tactics. Pre-WE9 this never worked that great, but it is a huge help in this version. I know it's obvious, but practicing a lot also really helps. Learn to lay off the R1 button and you're halfway there.
An attacking 3-4-3 is good if you have the right people. You need to make sure your backline stays put, that you have good midfield wingers, two speedy and good passing forwards and ideally a tall target forward with excellent finishing skills. Make sure you set all the attacking arrows properly, and tweak positioning depending on your personnel. It's hard to make this work out of the gate given the chumps you get in the default ML, but you can buy some decent guys in the first transfer period.
Anyone with the Xbox version know if it still has problems with component out cables? WE8i would always be cropped on my set with some really bad antialiasing, to the point it wasn't usable. Until they support widescreen, they could at least fix this.
Otherwise enjoy - I've gotten more mileage out of Japanese WE9 than probably any other game in the series. If you're still playing WE9 Japanese you NEED to check out the brilliant Wendetta patch released a few days ago. It includes all promoted, CL and WC sides, along with all the other patching innovations to date.
Im done with my prem Kits if anyone wants them. Good enough till the real boys get hold of them.
Just made 1st strips as close as possible and added sponsors names, some look realy good. ( west Brom) nice if you dont wanna mess with 'em does take a while.
But you will have to tell me how to post it or maybe just a pm thru email maybe is that possible?

Blub...I have a 48" widescreen Mits and use the MS HD pack and I had the same problems last year and this year it was the same. Zeppo, then told me to turn off widescreen in my xbox dashboard (I also had to turn off 480p and 1080i options in dashboard), and the game looks great. Even though the xbox is set to normal screen the game shows up in widescreen 480i with no stretching (atleat it doesn't look like it to me) and looks fine.

I'm glad it's not just me. I thought I'd try 4* last night to see if maybe the problem was with 3*. I played 3 friendlies and they were 1-0 win, 0-0 and 1-1 on 10 minute games. So much for that.
In a few weeks, after my friends play this a little more, we're going to start playing against each other more. We cheated on previous WE versions by removing GKs for field players to increase scoring. Maybe this will help.
For those players that are having a boring time with 1-0, 0-0 games ,try to extend the playing time and see if something changes, I am having a great time trying to protect a 1-0 lead or trying to get a lucky break in order to score.
I find I have possession of the ball 65-70% of the time in my games on 3 stars and still can come up 0-0. Do I wish I was up by 2 goals. Of course. But this is the beauty of soccer. Tactics, change a player that doens't play well, change formation. This game is a bit like a chess game, you have to work your plays in order to have a good chance to score.
One thing that hasn't been mentioned and of course everyone is excited to play right off the bat, is to use the practice mode more often. Practice your set plays, free kicks etc.
The ball physics is great, what else can you ask for a footie game? The ball bounces in any direction and it isn't predictable at all. How hard you strike the ball depends on your momentum, position, what foot you use, etc.
Intercepting the ball when in the possession of the other team is not as easy as it once was where you could just press the pressure button and walk away with the ball. Tackles are fundamentally the best way to wrestle the ball away from the other team. Probably the most useful move is the sliding tackle, just don't do it from behind.
Hey, but if you want a higher scoring game, ther's always Fifa.
Increasing playing time is definitely a good suggestion.....I'm playing on 20 mins. now (not sure how long it takes in actuality), but would be open to a 25 minute game if need be.

I thought we were going to be civil in this thread. That's a low, low blow. You might as well suggest I get in an orgy with farm animals or swim in a cesspool or watch wnba.

Love that avatar fan, just don't tell PK that we are only the 5th team in soccer history to have the most international tropies won. Vamos Boca.

Wonder where River ranks on that list...JK- what the heck do I know..I only fell in love with Boca a few months ago after catching a game at La Bombonera. Anyways, glad to be part of the rivalry now!

They are doing better with Passarela though PK, love his passion. I witness his leadership in the 1978 WC when they took it to the Dutch in a memorable final.
A jewel.

It's difficult to get high scoring games when it's set at 10 minutes. I suggest playing at 15 minutes (or maybe even 20). I've been getting a wide variety of scores when playing...ranging from 0-0 to 4-2, playing w/15 minute halves. Online play has been the same...a good range of games, going from about 0-0 to 3-2. Give it time and you'll be able to score more goals...practice is key.
I can't rip Guillermo. I know it's sacrilege for a River fan, but I love Guillermo Barros Schelotto. His passion and melodrama on the pitch represent everything I love about the Argentine game.
Take care,
PK

I play all my ML games at the 25' setting and I couldn't recommend it highly enough. It makes each game feel like a real game, and fatigue becomes a huge factor late in the game, even more so in this new version, and that opens things up considerably.
I wouldn't blame lack of scoring or 0-0 games on the game. I've been through long stretches of minimal scoring in years' past, only to have it open up completely once I figured out how to score. That and I got players who could actually do something on my ML team! I pretty much stick with ML except for the occasional friendly or Cup tourney, but with online play now, I've played a ton of different teams. With the really good players, you have to force the issue and take shots from everywhere, try crazy passes and play with confidence. With each new iteration, my period of adjustment seems to coincide with the improvements of personell on my squad. It's unbleivable how much of a difference one or two quality changes can make to that default group of stiffs.
If those who play me online are up for it, I'd like to switch to the 20' setting instead of the 15' we've been using.

I'd definitely be up for it. I always feel rushed when playing 15'.
Guys,
A tip for you who hate the xbox controller for WE. Switch the "Y" and the "black" button. For somebody who has used the default setting since the beggining it is tough to get used to. I find it allows you to do more. Hard to change the way you play for 4 years of WE, however.

I'm going to try it. I am unlearning bushels of stuff anyway, and playing poorly and becoming frustrated to boot. Might as well add one more
