It's funny how she was able to say no to the media when they wanted to ask her some tough questions before the election, but now that the election is over, she is everywhere. But yeah, it's not her. It's the media. Doesn't she have a state to govern somewhere? She had better get back to her post and watch out for Russians!

You are bordering on stalking now.
I didn't post the video. She's the publicity hound that arranged the interview.
She appeared on 5 different TV shows last week and now she's "pardoning turkeys". Quite a "witch hunt" indeed. I guess it depends on which side you are looking from.
Actually I am the opposite of stalking her. I just want her to go away.
Did it ever occur to you that Palin might be in demand from TV shows? McCain's handlers put the muzzle on her during the campaign. Now that she has been unshackled from that and can do her own publicity, it's VERY possible -- downright probable -- that media are coming to her for appearances and interviews.
We live in a 24-hour news cycle in which most material isn't news. She's a compelling national public figure now and will remain so. So why the hell wouldn't the media want to cover her?
I'm guessing the turkey pardon was an annual tradition in Alaska that received little coverage outside the state. But then again, hardly anyone outside of that state knew of Sarah Palin last Thanksgiving. The game, obviously, has changed, so that ceremony receives national coverage because Palin is a national public figure.
It's not rocket science.
Your fixation on her is another indication that there is national interest in this broad. If you wanted her to go away, then you would ignore her.
Clearly, you're not ignoring her.
Take care,

I'm not bitter at all bro. I was responding to someone else's post about Palin and the turkey and then to Matt, who feels compelled to respond to every one of my posts. You guys act like I am staging this Palin stuff or making it up. She is constantly on the news. Blame her or the media.
You know I have a soft spot for animals. When she's filming a video with turkey's being slain in the background, yeah, it gets me a little pissed off.
But you know what? I am glad that happened the way it did, because now maybe some people will see how these turkeys are actually killed and might think twice about eating one. For that...I thank you, Sara Palin.

It's hard to ignore her when she's on the news every night. Excuse me for commenting on what is presented in front of me. Why isn't anyone ragging on whoever posted that Pain/Turkey video in the first place?

So why am I not entitled to mine? Am I not allowed to post my responses to what others say here? If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. I know I am in the minority here when it comes to caring about the cruelty to animals. That has been proven countless times. But that doesn't mean I have to stop posting what I believe. I haven't spoken about Palin for weeks here and I make one post and everyone jumps up my as@. Funny thing is I wasn't even the one who brought her up.

I could give a fuckless about Palin,I was talking about Matt. You don't know the man,I do. Your comments directed at him were uncalled for. Believe it or not, many lovers of nature hunt. I love nature and all the game it provides. I kill a deer whenever I get a chance to hunt. We eat the meat and donate some to food banks as well. Same goes for rabbits, turkeys, geese and any other game I like to see on a plate.
Honestly,I could careless how turkeys end up on the points of my fork. The only thing that video had me thinking about was how much that turkey weighed and I would love too see Palin naked.

Nothing wrong with hunting for food. Although you could argue there's plenty of ready-killed food at the supermarket, but if you prefer to kill your own, you probably do it more humanely than they do at the slaughterhouse.
As far as Matt goes...no, I don't personally know him nor do I want to. He gets under my skin all the time and seems to enjoy it, so excuse me if I took something he said the wrong way. He has taken my comments the wrong way so many times, I lost count. If he does indeed love nature and animals, then that's fantastic. It's possible I misunderstood when he was joking, but it's sometimes hard to tell. Let's move on...

Remember our conversation about Iraq last week? As of yesterday 160 Iraqi Battalions have taken over security duties for US soliders. Most US soldiers are now in their in base camp waiting to come home in 9 months. The war is pretty much over.
Please don't get this news twisted and think it was because of Obama getting elected,he really had nothing to do with it. It started with the Surge and letting our troops do their duty. I support Obama as my President. The Bill Mahar's of the world will give him credit for ending the war in Iraq. The soldiers and politicians that supported the Surg get the kudos for that.
Of couse I didn't get this news from any of the network anchors. I got it straight from the soldiers in Iraq. This is a perfect example of why I believe those networks live on the adage "If it bleds..it leads". Not much bleeding lately thank God. Some Americans are pretty damn happy with that news.
I think that's great that the Iraqi's seem ready to take control. I don't think Obama himself will take any credit for ending the war. The media might do that by itself. Although I am puzzled why we didn't know how many troops were necessary in Iraq until 4 years later. The real question will be what the situation is in that area several years after we leave. I have been saying all along "somebody tell me what happens when we leave"?

I'm with you on both points, Jack. I'd do a little dance if I read about a bear mauling some redneck hunter, and I agree with you and the Anchorage Daily News that Palin should focus less on her newfound celebrity status and get back to doing what she gets paid to do, i.e., her job.

I think all involved in the action were puzzled as well. I'd like to believe that's the reason Colin Powell resigned. Rumsfeld treated soldiers like we were policeman. No disrepect to policeman, but that's not what we were all trained to do. As far as your last question goes,it's anyone's guess brother. Should be interesting.

Stereotype much? Redneck hunters huh?
I like the part where hes going to dance when a hunter is mauled by a bear.

Look out Jack, I'm responding to another one of you posts. Although in this case you mentioned me by name, so you asked for it.
I respond to so many of your posts because so many of your statements require either clarification or debunking. If anyone else had posted them, I still would have responded.
I think you wanted to "misunderstand" my comment. Everyone else got it but you.

If all hunters are "Rednecks" I have to call my father and uncle's and break the news to them.

All hunters are not rednecks, but hunting and guns in general are much more part of the culture of the south. Heck, in Kennesaw, GA, where I work, it is still a law that you are required to carry a gun with you at all times! Of course it isn't enforced anymore, but they don't want to take it off the books for historical reasons I guess.
The problem I have is with hunting for "sport". Killing another animal for your own amusement is very wrong in my book. Killing to eat is another story.
So every hunter laughs his ass off while pulling the trigger to splatter Bambi's blood all over the snow?
In regards to deer hunting, the sport of hunting performs a valuable service called herd management. If hunters didn't cull the herd during the short season (various forms of deer hunting are allowed in New York state for only around eight weeks per year, factoring in archery, muzzle loading and rifles/shotguns), then many members of your beloved Bambi family would either starve and die a slow, torturous death during the winter, be hit by vehicles, killing the deer and damaging and injuring or killing the driver, or overinfest areas so densely that the ecosystem would be thrown way out of whack. Deer are voracious eaters of foliage.
But hey, why let facts get in the way of a good PETA-fueled stance?
P.S.: I don't hunt. I've never fired a rifle or shotgun in my life. But many of my close friends and relatives are avid hunters, and none of them are the blood-thirsty jackasses that some of the media and groups like PETA love to portray all hunters. I think managed hunting -- and every state has hunting rules and enforcement -- performs a valuable service for wildlife and maintaining ecosystem balance.
Take care,
PK

So hunters from the south are rednecks?
I think hunting is huge sport for the entire country. Most of the guys I served with that didn't grow up in a city were hunters. Country boys from Washington to Maine love to hunt. I never hunted until I was stationed in Massachusetts. I was talked into going pheasant hunting with some locals and fell in love with the sport. Since then I've hunted bear in Maine,Michigan, and NY. I've hunted Javelina in Arizona and New Mexico. Russian Boar in Germany. The game was always eaten or donated to food banks.
I've also went hunting for varmints. Groundhogs, fox, coyote. I never ate any of those, that was just public service to the farmers in my community.

Well, it's your book. And you're entitled to read it. I, on the other hand, have no interest in having that book read to me.
