Thanks for the tip, just did the same from Amazon!
Never ordered from them for videogames before, but if it arrives on release day I'm sold. I have sworn never to go to GameStop again because I can't stand getting a 'used/open' game for full price when their trade-in practices screw the consumer (and the game developer).

The batting camera is really starting to grow on me. I may have to zoom it in a little bit, but its interesting trying to read the ball and decide whether to tag a runner up or proceed to the next base on any fly balls. Really can't wait to pick up the game on Tuesday.

Sport, I buy and trade in all my games with Amazon. Never had any issues with release day delivery and trade ins are a breeze! I haven't been to Gamestop in a long time.
Amazon note: if for some reason, the game doesn't arrive on release day to your doorstep, they give you a credit to a future purchase. I had some game get snagged with fedex once, they gave me a $10 credit.

Amazon IS awesome. I no longer shop at Gamestop because of them, no need to drive to pickup a game or trade one in. Their customer service is great too. I recently bought an HDTV for the cheap from them with free shipping and no tax.
I would still shop at Gamestop if the local store allowed returns for their good customers. I used to get that with a manager who no longer is there. I never abused it but it was worth buying there for that reason alone. When that stopped I no longer had a reason to do business with Gamestop.
Oh and what Sport said, on many occasions I refused a gutted case it was either new and factory sealed or nothing.

I'm tempted by the Kmart deals this week.
I dont think there is a PC version this year. There is no info on gamestop about a PC version at all???

Thanks. I just did a search on gamestops home page and it only showed all the console versions.
Anyway, I wonder if they will be doing the same sale on opening day this year?
I got the game (and The Show too) and I must say I had a seriously fun game against the Orioles...it was an MLB Today game...that is who the Phillies played today I won 9-4. Utley went deep as did Howard but my boy Placido Polanco hit 2 bombs. I played on default Pro settings BUT got rid of that god awful camera from the demo. I went with the Batter Cam and love it. SO much better than the other cam. The game is definitely a nice improvement from last year. Anyone who says different is just lying. Time will tell if it holds me but I really like what I see.
Gurantsu wrote:It was $3 at Gamestop via download on opening day. I'll be waiting for it also as I'll certainly grab it if it shows up. I'll check at my store but so far no e-mails have mentioned it them doing it again.
Grant have you heard if GS is doing the same thing this year?
Jumped right into a season with my Red Sox and left everything at default but turned off the strike zone and the "hot zones". Won 8-1, 7-2 and am tied 1-1 in the 6th right now in game 3 versus Texas. The first thing that jumps out at me is that i played 2 1/2 games in one session. Something I haven't done with the Show in two years. Bottom line reason for that is i simply find this game hits high on my "fun" meter. The presentation is outstanding, commentary is terrific, and the gameplay aspects of this game are just flat out enjoyable. I found a terrific variety of hits in the three games i played. Pitching was a bit too easy with Lester and Buchholz but struggling right now with Beckett so going to wait longer and see how the first few weeks play out before i change anything.
Basically for those looking for the Show, meaning pretty, near perfect animations, no warping, etc then this game isn't it as there are certainly some things that make you go hmmmmm. But in terms of playing a game of baseball, this is the most fun i've had in many years.....and i've been a Show guy since i grabbed a PS3 on launch day.
I haven't seen any of what he mentions, but to be honest it wouldn't shock me if they popped up based on a couple of things I saw in the demo and today. (Players not being on the bag for a throw, warping to get a ball off the wall). But my point earlier was that I can deal with an occasional hiccup in a game if I'm enjoying the game. And three games, this is a refreshingly fun video baseball gaming experience.

Yep. It's got a hiccup here and there, but the presentation is fantastic and the game is flat out fun to play. I like it
RallyMonkey wrote:No fast mode. Took me about an hour per game.
That's the only problem nowadays with baseball games, take too long to play a 9 inning game. I am going to guess if you have fast mode on it'll probably take around 40 min.
As for the bugs, last year's game on release had issues but the patch they released fixed a lot of problems. I am thinking that they'll fix a lot w/ a patch this year too.
Last years game had more problems but I overlooked them because it was a lot of fun to play. So much so that I rarely played the Show and that by far was the better game.
Man, what a letdown. This is the same game as last year.
Ok, I'm lying. This is game is what I hoped 2k10 would have been. Every issue from last year that I can remember (no pop-ups, no errors, pinpoint pitching, etc..) has been addressed. I'm liking the post-contact batting camera more now. The ball is a bit easier to track than it was in the demo. I've only played 1 1/2 games so far, but I've seen a lot of variety in hits, fielding, and just in general.
As an example, I played an MLB today game between the Mariners (me) and the Giants. I was glad to see them playing in a spring training park and not in Safeco Field. Ichiro on 3rd, 2 outs and Figgens up to bat. He hits a weak grounder to the right (fielders right) of the 1st baseman. Last year this play would have resulted in Huff making a spinning, jumping throw that would have been a rocket for the out. This time he had to make a realistic throw, one that was just offline enough that Lincecum was forced to slow down for a second in order to catch the ball. Figgens was safe by a half-step as a result. Very cool to see something like that this year.
For those looking for a faster game without removing all the pageantry like batter walk-ups, there is a presentation option called 2k10. This speeds up time between pitches, but retains the walkups and some of the other scenes.

I immediately jumped in and played an MLB today game vs the Red Sox.. my goodness they have quite a lineup.
Lost 5-0, but they really have improved the game quite a bit. Like some mention, there is still some warping and goofy animations at times, but the game play so far is quite solid.
dbdynsty25 wrote:Is the AI really as atrocious as Pasta Padre says? Serious question...I'm not trying to kill anyone's fun with the game at all...just curious.
Yikes...I guess I'll find out when my rental (thank god) shows up tomorrow.
the only thin he mentioned that actually mattered was the reliever being left in for the final six innings of a 14 inning game. that was really bad.
His complaint about the pop-up was just a lack of understanding. Better fielders have the yellow indicator pop up sooner than worse fielders. So when I played a game with Yadier Molina, the pop-up was easy. When I played with Texas, I missed one when I didn't get to it in time. And he says it like he has never seen a catcher misjudge a pop=up and have to reach for it. It's a feature of the game, and it works amazingly well.
I've seen some weak managerial AI in regards to handling of the pitchers. Last night, the CPU left a guy in that I had torched for five runs in the third, and one in the 4th and 5th. Worse, he was walking guys and his pitch count was huge. Every inning I was getting runners on, but they left him in through the 7th.
Even the Show has managerial AI issues. The only game I can think of that excelled at managerial decisions was High Heat baseball 2003/2004. In that game I saw pitchers intentionally walking or working around dangerous hitters or hitters on a hitting streak.
I also saw the AI bring in pitchers to throw against a certain batter and replaced by another pitcher.
