Game just scored a 9.9 from IGN.

Anyone else interested in this Bioware game???
As a fan of past Bioware games (KotOR, Neverwinter Nights) I was getting this anyway but now(geek alert) Im actually excited about it.

Anyone else or am I going to geek Hell alone?

Interested? Yes. Perplexed at the prospect of finding time to play between WoW, WE8 and life in general? Definitely.

I played the demo and the game did nothing for me. I'm just not into the whole ninja chick, oriental setting, of this game. I hate to pass on a 9.9 and I have loved all the Bioware games, but this game is dead to me.

9.9....holy sh!t. Big fan of KOTOR but I'd have to echo Rob's sentiments; definately interested but don't know when I'd get the time - especially since when it comes to non-sports games I already have MGS3 & Fable still in their shrink wrap.

I can't wait for this game. I saw part of a 'making of' on G4/TechTV and my anticipation went through the roof. The depth in this game looks to be pretty remarkable. Until shown otherwise, I will expect every game out of Bioware to be exceptional.

I quit paying attention to demos and cancelled my OXM subscription a year or two ago. The builds for those are always too old to judge by.

As for Jade Empire, it should be a good adventure for this summer if I have time for it. I think you can be a ninja dude instead of chick if you like.

Picked this one up tonight and played it for about 4 hours.

All I can say is Wow!

I know RPG's are not everyones cup of tea, but if there was ever a perfect setting for an action RPG this is it.

The differnt fighting styles, the intense combats and the really engaging story with many twists (takes about an hour or two to get really good) make this one hell of a game.

Don't even hesitate, pick this one up or rent it ASAP.

I had mine Fed Ex'd, it will be here tomorrow. Last game I buy before FORZA, baby!

Between all the crap I have now and barely play, this will more than likely be added to the stack. I still haven't finished KOTOR II, for crying out loud.

I couldn't resist Jade Empire either. From what little I have played of it, I am really enjoying it. I love the artistic work of this game. X-Men Legends is my favorite RPG on the Xbox, but Jade may take that title away as the combat system is better. Also, while many people are knocking that Jade is simplistic in its RPG elements, I actually welcome it. Messing with all the stats and stuff can be a bit tedious after a while. Incredible piece of work from BioWare.

And Terry, I'm done buying games until FORZA as well. And when I get Forza, I don't think I'll touch anything else on the Xbox for the first 6 weeks I own it.

My xbox has basically been dead the last 2 months, except NHL league games. I sometimes play something with my kids, and a neighbours kid comes over and they play sometimes. But as far as my OWN gaming time.. it's been almost all PC, and some Nintendo DS.

FORZA will change that I bet. Once I get my mitts on that the Xbox will get a lot more time.

I hope we get a league going again like we did with Toca, in addition to regular "poker nights". I think we're more limited to the number of players that can play in one room though.

You can add me to the list of people getting Jade Empire and not buying anything else until Forza. In fact after Forza I don't have any other purchases planned at all. After Forza I'm waiting to see what is shown at E3 to determine if I'm going to get an Xbox 2, PS3, or go back to PC gaming after Xbox 1 fizzles out.

I also think I might not get any games between J.E. and Forza, but I have to say Psychonauts has me intrigued. If it were $30 or even $40 I would definitely give it a shot, but at $50 I am going to wait for some reviews to come in. It may not be a groundbreaking, genre-busting masterpiece, and the graphics may not be up to snuff, but it could be right up my alley with its quirky mood and sense of humor.

I played a little bit, but haven't really gotten far.

I'm interested in Psychonauts, Area 51, and Darkwatch before Forza.

I don't think the rpg elements are too simplistic. I guess the lack of an inventory is one thing. But you level up, assign points to your attributes, enhance your fighting styles with skill points and you can "buy" training which improves attributes as well.

What I love is the combat, at first it appeared to be a button masher. But that is not the case once you get into the game a little. Certain styles work better on different opponents and when you are taking on 7 or 8 guys you need to use evade tactics and set up your attacks.

The cutscenes are done so well I find them flawless, I really feel like I am in a movie. The charcters are interesting, in typical Bioware fashion they drip out the NPC's history, motivations etc. I already don't trust my master and of course so many interesting followers.

I can't recall the last time I was this excited abotu a game, it is different type of feeling then WOW. As WOW is an addiction, but this one just keeps me wanting to play to advance the plot.

I hadn't beaten the first KOTOR a year or two back when I first played it and after hearing about this game I borrowed it from a friend in order to see if I would play an RPG all the way through. Well, KOTOR has me hooked so I think after I beat that I'm going to pick up Jade Empire.

It's the first time I've sat down and played a gme by myself for more than an hour in almost two years. Weird feeling.

Is everyone still loving this game now that they have played it for a few days? I have purchased the game, but I have not opened it because MLB is getting all of my gaming attention for right now. Trying to decide if I should keep game or take it back. Thanks

I've gotten my Monk up to level 20 and am approaching the last leg of the game. The thing that sets Bioware games apart from other titles is the story itself. Every time I think I figured something out, Bioware goes and throws a pretty big curveball. At this point in my cyber-"journey", I'm really not sure who's who or what I'm supposed to be doing anymore. My "open palm" decisions just help nefarious criminals, and things that normally seem evil actually are for the greater good.

It's a classic, classic game for sure.

About three hours in, can tell it's well put together, but am just bored out my mind. Have long conversations, walk around, fight some dudes, rinse, repeat. Funny thing is, it feels very much like KOTOR, which I loved, but now I'm wondering if I ever would have finished KOTOR had it not been set in the Star Wars universe.

Think I'm sending this one back to Gamefly for now.

I'm about five hours in and enjoying it a lot. Now that I'm in that first town, the one with the dam that's been opened, it's starting to stretch its legs a little. The open palm/closed fist thing seems intreresting and confusing, in a good way. Speaking of KOTOR, I am missing the 'influence' aspect of the dialogue trees from KOTORII, so I guess Obsidian did add some nice elements of their own, huh?

It's certainly not an action game, but I'm looking forward to discovering a lot of new styles and such. After about an hour or two (trouble with the combat was making it tough for me to beat that Gao the Younger jerk with my balanced guy), I went and created a couple other characters of different types. I'm back with my initial, balanced guy, but as the open palm/closed fist thing develops, I think I will enjoy taking those other characters and doing things differently. I'm also cuirous about the magic user guy I created, since I'm using mostly weapon style with my main guy.

Very happy to be able to enjoy this game.

I have now played the game for 2 to 3 hours. I do like the game, but IGN overhyped the game a bit too much IMHO. I would give it a 8.9 instead of a 9.9, but I did read somewhere that the game starts slow, and gets much better after a few hours. I might still be playing the slow part.

Well, if you guys are bored with "go here, talk to somebody, blah blah", then I'd stop playing right about now. The thing that makes it an RPG rather than an action game IS the story, so if that's the part that's dragging it down for you, it's only going to get worse.

If you want to skip the story parts to get to more fighting, then the fighting is going to get repetitive far too soon for you as well. Personally, I don't think they're overrating the game at all, but I played it mainly for the story, and it's a beautifully laid out and well-written tale.

If you're bored with it after 3 hours, however, you'll probably still be bored with it after 15.

Like I always say, if somebody is happy with a game, I'm happy for them. That's the most important thing. I could go into a long post about why I think the game is flawed but if people are happy with it, that's what counts. Someone kind of summed up my feelings earlier however. What seemed fresh and innovative in Kotor now seems boring and repititive in Jade Empire. For me it feels like an art-swap out and I was expecting more. That along with the too easy combat make this one a dissapointment to me coming after KOTOR. I agree with the gamespot review and roughly with their score and would still deduct a few extra tenths to bring it to a high seven low eight territory.
