Hey all, the first post for this Toronto Blue Jays fan and long time sports gamer.
Before I begin; yes I do have a life, a wife, kids, and a job. No I do not have too much time
on my hands. This started out small and got bigger.
I love the game but I haven’t gotten to play it too much because I’m one of those who has to
make the game as accurate as possible. I’ve been too busy playing with the game, to actually
play the game.
I noticed that a couple of Jays players were not in the game. I did some searching and
found that certain players on the MLB rosters had an EA generic (cartoon) face. I went to edit
the player, checked on the birthday and found that the birth date and all the attribute information
was the same as it should be for an actual player. I changed the name in “Edit Player”, and in
some cases I changed the skin colour, facial hair, jersey number but not the physical attributes.
I also noticed this with the “Baseball America Top 100 Prospects” (a logo that appears
on the “player info” section). Some Prospects have an actual name and photo while others have
an actual name and a white profile on a black screen for their facial image. But it was the Prospects
that have the cartoon face image that got me scouring the net looking for their true identity.
So here’s my list of EA generic players that are on the MLB rosters and who they actually are:
Anaheim – S. Barcik = Brendan Donnelly #53
Atlanta – J. Byrd = Tom Martin #38
Boston – A. Friese = Kevin Millar #15
Detroit – D. Smith = Jamie Walker #32
Milwaukee – R. Chamberlain = Damien Miller #26
Philadelphia – A. Hughes = Cory Lidle #30
San Francisco – J.Dowd = Barry Bonds #25
Texas – N. Genereaux = Ron Mahay #32
Toronto – S. Venema = Kerry Ligtenberg #46
If you’re a Blue Jays fan (I did mention that I am, didn’t I??) you can also make these alterations
To their Minor League line-ups:
Syracuse – A. Callaway = Justin Miller #34
Syracuse – T. Murphy = Frank Menechino #4
New Hampshire - R. Perez = Dustin McGowan #40
New Hampshire – B. Neilsen = Francisco Rosario #36
Here are the “Baseball America Top 100 Prospects” I’ve got so far, keeping in mind that there are
31 I’m still missing. Not too many minor league web sites are up and running yet but you know
I’ll get them later. (the vast majority of these players reside on the AA rosters):
Anaheim – B. Bath = Ervin Santana #74
Anaheim – D. Roberts = Jeff Mathis #68
Anaheim – J. Bukvich = Kendry Morales #22
Arizona – J. Ennis = Conor Jackson #30
Arizona – B. Jarvis = Carlos Quentin #24
Atlanta – S. Blancard = Kyle Davies #62
Atlanta – J. Doonan = Jeff Francoeur #19
Atlanta – E. Rodriguez = Andy Marte #61
Atlanta – J. Berroa = Brian McCann #17
Baltimore – J. Wilson = Adam Loewen #68
Baltimore – R. Rodriguez = Hayden Penn #24
Boston – M. Derksen = Hanley Ramirez #2
Chi Cubs – I. Krystal = Angel Guzman #67
Chi WS – T. Berrie = Brandon McCarthy #10
Cincinnati – M. James = Edwin Encarnacion #68
Cleveland – K. Barrera = Fausto Carmona #74
Cleveland – R. Sullivan = Franklin Gutierrez #71
Cleveland – T. Gray = Michael Aubrey #39
Florida – L. Ordonez = Yorman Bazardo #75
Kansas City – B. Poiveson = Mark Teahen #24
Los Angeles – K. McCracken = Chad Billingsley #29
Los Angeles – D. Driediger = Joel Guzman #54
Milwaukee – W. Collier = Prince Fielder #28
Milwaukee – S. Gent = J.J. Hardy #7
Minnesota – T. Coleman = Francisco Liriano #60
Oakland – P. Lidge = Huston Street #45
Oakland – A. McDonald = Daric Barton #65
Pittsburgh – R. Sanchez = Zack Duke #34
Pittsburgh – J. Cardona = Neil Walker
San Diego – G. Devore = Josh Barfield #63
San Francisco – R. Santiago = Matt Cain #73
St. Louis – D. Larmour = Anthony Reyes #79
Seattle – D. Buhler = Felix Hernandez #66
Tampa Bay – K. Morales = Delmon Young #35
Texas – M. Mondesi = Thomas Diamond #33
Washington – S. Payne = Michael Hinckley #41
Washington – Y. Vuu Carinha = Larry Broadway #64
That’s all I’ve got so far. If there's any other that you figure out, I’d definitely like to hear about it.
Thanks and enjoy.

At least you spent your time on something more productive than taking screen shots of a video game

Welcome, dude. With an informative, helpful first post like that, you'll be a fine member of the DSP gang. Don't be a stranger!
P.S.: I have lived in Syracuse most of my life, so I've seen just about all of the top Jays' prospects come through here. Delgado, Hentgen, Halladay, Tony Fernandez, Henke, Stieb, etc., etc.
Take care,
PK

Welcome Flangoid and thanks for the info. It's always nice to get a nice varying fan base of teams here on DSP. You'd think everyone was a Yankee or Cubs fan on here. Glad to see you're not a Cubbie fan.
Here's my question. I've started a Dynasty and I'm 7 games in with my Cards team. We're a paltry 3-4 so far but I'm having a tremendous time. I'm not necessarily concerned about all the rosters being accurate, but I would like for my team to have accurate opening day rosters. I'm guessing I won't be able to download the opening day roster since I've already started a season. Therefore, for players who may need to be created how do I go about adding them?
Thanks.
