Hi all:

I´m not a PC gamer, so I had no prior experience with Eidos´ Commandos series.

But I eagerly rented Commandos 2 for the Xbox last night, thinking this would be a fun war strategy game. Well, it is fun, but it´s way harder than I expected.

I didn´t expect a pick-up-and-play war game like Medal of Honor, but Commandos 2 is almost off the scale on the difficulty level. Just learning the controls will take a ton of patience, and then the missions are quite challenging.

It´s pretty doubtful I´ll buy this game. I guess I´m more of first-person shooter, blast-away kind of player. I don´t mind a little thinking, along the lines of Metal Gear Solid, etc., but Commandos 2 is a stiff, stiff challenge that would require many hours in which to become proficient. A real labor of love.

Commandos 2 seems fun for those willing to put in the time, but I´ll just wait for Medal of Honor Frontline and Splinter Cell for the Xbox.
Take care,
PK

pk500,

Thanks for the "heads up" on this game. I have been "jonesing" for a good WWII game for the Xbox, and I was seriously considering buying this game. Now I´ll give it a rental instead, just to see whether or not it´s worth the effort.
No problem.

I can see this being a very, very good game. But I just don´t want to put in the effort required to master the controls and the complexity of the game.

We´re talking hours here just to get comfy with the game, for sure, unless I´m a real idiot.

Let us know what you think after you rent it.
