I sold my PS2 to a friend of mine and used the money for an Xbox.
He played it quite a bit until it started getting the Disk Read Errors. Frustrated, he put it up.
Now with MLB 2006 being an exclusive PS2 only game, both of otu interest have been sparked. We want to get it working so that we can play.
Since it is a launch PS2, the warranty has been gone for some time.
We were thinking about trying to fix it ourselves, figuring "waht the heck" if it doesn't work.
Any suggestions about how to go about doing this? Does Sony charge a ton to fix them?

Re: OT: PS2 Disk Read Error
It's a well documented problem. If you call Sony and explain the "infamous disk read errors" they will probably fix it free of charge. The other option is to do a search on Google under the heading PS2 Disk Read Errors. You will probably find documentation on how to disassemble the PS2 and fix the problem. I have seen it done, it's fairly easy, but my FIRST suggestion is to call Sony and tell them your machine is one of the many units suffering from the disk read error. Ask nice, I use to work for Sony tech support. Good luck !ILikePie wrote:I sold my PS2 to a friend of mine and used the money for an Xbox.
