Which baseball game to get?
Just curious as to which baseball game people are leaning towards. I was devoted to High Heat for several years. Last year I gave MVP a shot. While it had a lot of positives (being able to play the minor leagues for one), there were too many major flaws in the game. I eventually sold it back, and ended up purchasing OOTP. OOTP was a great experience, and while I will continue with it, I want to jump back into the console baseball game this year.
MLB is drawing my interest with their positive reviews from last year and the addition of the minor leagues. I probably won't purchase on day one, as I plan to wait for the comments from you fine people. Plus, I'm really into my ESPN College Hoops season now, and that will easily get me through the first few weeks of March.

I got rid of my PS2, so no MLB for me. That's too bad, it looks like a very promising game.
Sega's MLB is definitely my leading candidate. I thought it was the most realistic of last year's offerings, once you made a few minor slider changes. I'm dubious about the long-term playability of the K-Zone, but you can change to last year's excellent pitching style. Really, last year's game biggest flaw was a lack of atmosphere, which this year's game seems to have in spades. Plus online leagues sound really appealing.
If I try MVP, and I might, it will probably be the PC version. Out of the box, last year's game was a mess of Triple Play proportions, but the mod community and the patch fixed a lot of issues.
I also will likely give the Nintendo game a shot on my GC.

I'm grabbing ESPN and MVP for the box, and MLB for my PSP...........and honestly, based on my living situation (wife and 2 kids) MLB on my PSP is probably going to get the most play time. God i can't wait for this thing to come out. Sad because i haven't owned a handheld, nor had an interest, in more than 10 years. Sorry, got off topic but i couldn't help myself.

Well one of you guys made an error. Slumber said there is no reason to get all of them, and then Slyguy said he agrees, he's going to get all of them. Which is it?slyguy wrote:I couldn't agree more, but hell if they were all 50 bucks i would still get all three.Knowing the baseball nut that i amSlumberland wrote:With the little price war they've got going (and probably the last one for a long time), I see no reason to get all of them. Winning Eleven 8. It's now my baseball, basketball and football game, wrapped into one. The only other team sports game I have is ESPN NHL 2K5.
Take care,

ESPN MLB 2K6 (or whatever the hell they officially call it this year) for sure. I would have payed $50 for it, but $20 is even better.
I'll rent MLB 2005.
I'll wait on MVP and only get it if there is either a)unanimous choice from the DSP regulars that this is the best game, or b) the other 2 let me down so hard I become desperate enough for give it a try.

LoL.
On March 1, it will be MLB 2K5 and MVP, both for Xbox.
I was considering MVP for the PC, but the only reason I'm getting it at all is because of the Gamestop deal for $9.99. Surely I can get some enjoyment out of it for that price.
MLB 2K5 will keep me happy until Mid-March, when I will have to buy a PS2 because I realize I am missing out onthe best of the bunch: MLB 2006 (man, I want that game!!)
A PSP was in my earlier plans, but I am going to wait until the hype settles a bit.
