OT: WoW...still playing?

I've got a few characters all on different servers. I just started a new one on Windrunner since that seems to be the popular choice here, he is a level 8 human mage named Shadash. I'm going to just focus on this character now, so I should have him leveled up quite a bit more over the next few days.

Im glad you slapped Me or I would never have noticed.
Thanks for the cash and the tour...one day Ill actually figure out how to communicate in the game.
I must say, City of Heroes spoiled me somewhat with their sidekick system. I've been playing for like a month, and now two friends of mine have just joined up.
So it's either
A) Don't play with them
or
B) Start a new character
I guess that's been an eternal problem with MMORPGS, though, save for the aforementioned CoH.
Annoying.

Nope. Most of the time in MMO's though, they eventually come out with character transfer utility (that costs you money, of course). It allows you to transfer entire characters from one server to another, but not usually single items. They also don't usually come about for about a year after release.Sudz wrote:can u send stuff to different servers?

The saddest thing about me having so many characters is that I have only had the game for a few weeksAirdog wrote:So this is where hup as been....HipE wrote:I've got a few characters all on different servers. Is there a Windrunner DSP/OS guild? My mage is really much easier to use if I play in groups.
There isn't one, but I'm contemplating starting one with Werewolf (21 druid). Lancelot is in an All-Paladin guild, but it'd be easy to keep track of everybody if we had a guild. Tell you guys what...
I can buy a guild charter, if we can all meet tonight in Stormwind or Ironforge to sign it, then it will be quick.
What do you say, we need 8 or 10 signatures, I forget how many. I obviously have 2 with myself and my wife's character. 6 or 8 more?

Recent events have kept me away from WoW, but I'd love to join the guild. Tonight probably wouldn't work for me though, at least not until pretty late.TCrouch wrote:There isn't one, but I'm contemplating starting one with Werewolf (21 druid). One thing I need to clarify: you don't need to be around TONIGHT, or at a city at a specific time, to join up. I just need some signatures at some point to actually get the guild created.
I bought a charter, but so many names were taken it's not even funny. When a name isn't taken, it doesn't prompt...just fires you right past and goes "ok thanks!".
Regardless, I have a charter for the "Eternal Dragons", and some signatures on it already. Just look up Werewolf, I'll be on him all day and most of the night probably.

is there anybody here that has played WoW and not liked it. Seems like it is everyone's favorite game. I just don't see the appeal of RPGs unless i was a youngster (20 years ago, I loved a game called Wizardry, but I sure wouldn't wanna play it today). It seems like the whole point is just to level up. Sure that takes time, but why is that fun.
I don't know anybody that's played it that hasn't loved it. As far as the "leveling up" question, that's almost all MMO's. In WoW, it applies in a lesser fashion. Sure, you still level up, but they don't even let you use cool items until you get a bit bigger. Honestly, I can look at a level 10 and know they're a level 10 by the gear they're using. I can tell the difference between a 20, 30, 40, 50, or 60. Some of WoW is spent just exploring...each and every zone is so different, you can spend hours just uncovering sections of the map (your map starts out empty, but fills in portions of each zone as you explore, also giving you experience). As you get higher in level, you start doing treasure hunts...certain instances (like Van Cleef's instance in the Deadmines) drop some seriously good loot, so I know level 40 and 50 guys that just tromp through their solo and pick up stuff that they can STILL use.anchester wrote:is there anybody here that has played WoW and not liked it. It's part leveling treadmill, part internet chat room, part Easter egg hunt, and part exploration game. The cool part is the leveling treadmill is taken care of by exploring, quests, and killing. You don't have to sit in one spot and kill rats for 4 hours to level.
Another thing, is once your leveling up is done, you can actually join in the Horde vs Alliance Player vs. Player conflict. Armies of Orcs vs Humans using the same tactics that made Warcraft 3 a hit; you control bases, and lower level players can actually join in and carry the resources back and forth. The Battlegrounds previews have been amazing.
But to answer your question: if all you want to do is gain levels, you'll probably tire of WoW. However, I've played since the closed beta, and rarely do I just try to gain levels; it's far more likely that I'm trying to complete a quest or find an item and suddenly I'm going "oh wow I am 2% away from Level XX".

That’s just not the point. For one, you have access to a free enterprise economy which can be a game all in itself. You have some pretty unique experiences, remember you are dealing with an online living breathing world, you have quests and goals, strategies, raids, grouping to get a major quest done. Beautiful seamless graphics.anchester wrote:is there anybody here that has played WoW and not liked it. Seems like it is everyone's favorite game. The situations you can get in or some of the things you see are outstanding. For example, last night I finished some elite quests which were so damn satisfying. Ended up outside of a major city where players were betting on players dueling, had a bookie and everything. The game is pure crack and I haven’t been into a game like this ever. Hell, just bartering with other players can lead to some strange circumstances. Add in fighting monsters, finding new and really different locations, kick-ass weapons and spells and it all just adds up into quite the experience. Love this game.

I started a Dwarf Pally on Windrunner the other day I think he is 8 or 9 already. I couldn't play the Rogue past 16 I was bored, it didn't fit my play style.
I can meet up in Ironforge tonight, I don't have any Windrunner routes with this guy yet so I can't get to Stormwind.
Actually as I am typing I forgot I can't meet tonight, it is board game club night tonight, I won't be home to real late. But I still want in the guild.
