Updated High Heat rosters for Xbox!

Post by Slumberland »

I haven't been able to try these myself, since my gf's PC is on the fritz, and AR won't work with my Mac, but apparently these are legit... the guy's still working on batting orders though, so you might want to wait a few days. Still, I know people have been looking for this, myself included.

Thanks for the info Slumber. How many create-a-players can you make in this game? Pretty impressive if he comes up with accurate rosters for a 2 year old baseball game.

Especially with that terrible interface. I went through and edited all of the rosters in High Heat 2004 for the PC and that was a pain in the ass, even with DangerZ's roster editor.

It looks like he hacked the file on a modded Xbox and then used some other rosters that were updated (maybe from PC?).

I re-bought HH2004 for this. Still better than any game on the market.

I picked up a copy for $9.99.

The rosters seem fine. It was nice having Benito Santiago on the Pirates.

I forgot how good High Heat really was.

Cincy...you'd be better off getting the PC version now that you've got a decent rig over there. The edits available for the PC are numerous. Rosters, stadiums and tune files (which change pretty much everything: animations, bats, shoes, uniforms, game speed, pitch speed, etc.). The PC version is just SO much better because of the community that backs it. You can find it cheap on Ebay.

All you need to know:

http://files.simcentral.net/index/High_ ... Heat_2004/

But if you need any help, just holla. I've got most of the transactions done for this season if you want me to send you my save file you can start from there if you want to be 100% accurate.

You can do whatever you want. Just download everything on your Desktop if you want, burn it on to a CD, then copy it all over to the desktop (or if they are networked, just transfer it desktop to laptop). There won't be any issues at all if you are just downloading files, copying them over, then installing them.

Obviously you can only install the patches/fixes/etc. on the computer that you install the game on.

I shouldn't have started playing this again because it is probably going to ruin all the rest of the games this year. ESPN, MVP, and MLB were all pretty solid as video games, but High Heat just nails baseball. I played 2 games and I saw some things I didn't see in any game last year. Kip Wells was wild and walked 4 in the first 3 innings. I saw 3 different types of errors (although the animations suck, of course)...a bobbled grounder to the thirdbaseman when the runner (a pitcher) broke on contact and would have been nailed at home, an errant throw to first base, and a bad throw from the outfield. I threw out 2 CPU runners on the basepaths (something that is almost impossible in ESPN). I caught JD Drew trying to stretch a single into a double and I cutoff a throw home and nailed someone at 2nd.

Here are some of the nuances of baseball that I think High Heat still gets better than any other game:

- the importance of lefty/righty matchups
- walks, especially for the human pitcher
- groundball/flyball ratios for pitchers
- error variety
- CPU baserunning occassional "fuzzy" logic.
- The effect of the ballpark on the outcome (too many 3-1 games at Coors Field in ESPN).

Which is exactly why when it's all said and done, I keep going back to High Heat PC. I played all of the games to death last year and every time, I would compare it to High Heat 2004. MLB is about as close as you'll get to High Heat when it comes to the batting interface, so that ended up being my favorite of all the 'new' games last year, but HH2004 has stuck with me till this day...almost 2 years later.

Question for you Scott...what do I need to run HH2004 on a PC? I've got a laptop arriving today (needed one for business so my company picked up the tab...nice compliment to my Mac), and hoping it will run HH2004. If so, I will need to find the game.

It is not graphic intensive at all. I've got a Vaio V505 with a 1.4 Mobile Centrino, 768mb Ram and a Mobile Radeon 9200 and I can run it pretty well. It's by no means a power laptop, in fact it's an ultraportable, so it's not setup to run games at all.

When I go on business trips, I even play it when the processor scales down to preserve battery life...so essentially it's running at half speed (768mhz). Depending on the laptop you get, you should be perfectly fine. Pretty much anything you buy today will run HH'04 pretty well.

Sounds great...I'm psyched! Now, any idea where I can still find it?

Ebay of course:

They've got a bunch of them for like 8 bucks plus shipping...then there is this one that is a dollar with less than a day to go and it doesn't look like anyone is bidding on them:

I just picked it up on Half.com for $5.99 + $3 shipping. I am excited to see how it holds up against the current crop of baseball titles..
