Wanted: Lousy Top Spin players

Hi all:
 
 I really enjoy playing Top Spin, but I´m getting my ass handed to me on a plate on Xbox Live. Plus I´ve also run into some really good players who are complete assh*les, which makes the experience even less palatable.
 
 Any guys in here who suck or have moderate skills at Top Spin want to get in some games sometime? I want to play with people slightly better than me so I can improve, but I don´t want to lose 3-0, 3-0, getting about eight points total in two sets.
 
 I´m not sure of my ranking. Maybe 250? 450? I´m not sure. But I blow -- trust me.

 I´ll answer that call. I haven´t even played online yet. I´ve only played a little of the single player and a few matches against tealboy here at the house. Let me know what time works best for you and I´ll give it a shot.

Ranking of 250? 450? That is NOT sucking. That´s pretty good.
 
 I played 60th ranked player today. He beat me 4 games to 2. I was impressed that I actually took two games. Then I lost 3-1 to 58th ranked player. I am currently ranked around 2700.

What ´pro´ player are you guys using online ?
 
 The reason that I ask is becaue I think there is a pretty serious issue with ´pro´ player match-ups. Anyone else notice this ? IF you use certain pro´s against others, there seems to be no way to win. The attributes are not leveled correctly or something.
 
 Seems to me that everyone is choosing the second guy after Sampress (forgot his name) and they only real good match up against him is to use the same player. A couple of the guys I have played have mentioned this too.
 
 What do you guys think ?
 
 Try to use the same character as your opponent and see if you improve...

 I guess "cheese" was the wrong term. It´s pretty much impossible to cheese on XBL with Top Spin -- you either suck or you don´t. I´m in the former category, unfortunately.
 
 But I have run across a disproportionate amount of assh*les while playing Top Spin online. Guys who do way more than just talk sh*t.
 
 I played one guy the other night, and it arguably was my worst experience on XBL. He joined my match, and not three seconds had passed when he joined and before I clicked the A button when he said, "Are you f*cking playing, or what?" Then he just talked s*** the entire game, calling any good shot by me "lucky."
 
 And this didn´t sound like some zit-faced 17-year-old. This clearly was some 20-something punk with a small life who lives vicariously through success on XBL.
 
 Anyways, the guy was good. I kept quiet, took my lumps and eventually shut him up with the silent treatment.
 
 I´ve had a few other games like this, too.
 
 Part of the problem is me. I pretty much only play one-on-one games on XBL (football, hockey, baseball, etc.) with people I know. So it´s been a long time since I´ve run into a puke. I tend to gravitate toward the multiplayer games on XBL, such as Moto GP 2, Rainbow Six 3, Ghost Recon and Amped 2, for play against strangers.
 
 The problem might be me, not Top Spin. The game may have no more pukes than any other XBL title, but maybe it just seems that way to me.
 
 My only complaint about Top Spin is that it seems talented, yet devious players can cheat the Optimatch setup and enter a match against a vastly inferior opponent and kill them. I set up an Optimatch for easy skill level, slow speed, and my foe KILLED me. He was putting risk shots down the line on EVERY shot.
 
 This guy was ranked really high. I know I suck, but not that bad!
 
 I wish Optimatch would prevent players of certain ranking from entering Easy or Medium skill level games.
 
 Either way, I´m still digging Top Spin. Great offline game, and very fun online with either players of my skill level or better players who are cool cats.

 I don´t know why Top Spin has so many idiot players but I have run into a couple also.
 
 I pretty much make it a standard that I do NOT use my headset if I am playing one-on-one games with someone I do not know. It helps. Especilly when you can listen to the idiot through your speakers and they are jabbering away at no one...
 
 I still think that there is a ´pro´ player mis-match going on with the game too. However, to agree with PK, with the right opponent and the right ´character´ player this game is TOP NOTCH ! I played James E the other day and we had some SICK battles. I´ve also played a couple fof ´normal´ users with our created players and had some absolutle nail bitting, fun, competative matches. Nothing can beat this game when all the right elements are there.

I know exactly what you´re talking about Pk in terms of opponent rankings. I set the option to play someone equal or around my ranking.....which by the way is in the 1000s, and I get set up with the 2nd ranked player online! Where´s the fun and excitement in that? Further, where´s the challenge for my opponent? Why would he want to play me except for the simple fact of humiliating me?
 
 By the way, are you playing with your created player or just one of the pros? In addition, do you have his skills maxed out? Reason I ask is because I´m finding those I´m playing online have their skills maxed out and all 14 stars distributed. Because if you don´t, then you´re pretty much looking for an ass whoopin.

Yeah - something is goofed in the Optimatch.
 
 My second game, I started an "official" match. Someone entered immediately, and we began to play. He asked my my ranking, and I told him I had no idea - I had only played once, and had been killed.
 
 He was pretty disappointed, as he was reanked #7, and has specifically set up his optimatch search to find player close to his rank, so he could move up. He was a really nice guy about it, but he was obviously disappointed at having to waste his time smoking a n00b instead of playing a quality opponent.

Well, it´s now official. As Hugo can attest to from our matches last night, I truly suck at Top Spin. So if you´re looking for some wins to boost your rank just send me an invite. Seriously though, I´m still loving the game but I need to spend some more time with single player to earn some more stars and skills and get some more practice.

Has XSN support started for this game yet? Maybe the Optimatch problem will be solved when XSN support is fully enabled for Top Spin.
 
 Either way, I think we can get some quality games in among ourselves. I´ll probably treat Top Spin the same way I do every other online one-on-one game -- play someone you know.

Man, i just had to chime in and say that i agree totally with the number of a**es online. I´m about .500 in my matches and i would say all but one or two have been miserable experinces in terms of conversation. Although i have to say, nothing shuts them up like kicking their tail. I have an offline question for you guys. I am 21-0 offline. Won two majors and multiple other tourneys. Is anyone else finding this? Online it´s totally different, but i´m worried about losing interest in my career mode because of this. Thoughts?

XNS support for Top Spin (as well as Amped 2 and Links 2004) will launch in 11/18. At least that´s what the producer of Links was saying over at the xbox.com forums.
