I also found myself pushing up on the right stick for a big hit...stupid Madden.
1) I have no idea
2) Thats why I am scared to play Madden alot til seasons over....As it was I played online the other night with Madden and could never switch the D players right...

Hell, I can't even blame the game for that. Inflated sack totals are a part of this game, but the outragous number of times my QB ate turf when we played Sunday night was my own damn fault. I just wasn't making quick enough decisions with the ball.

I wish my recent flurry of Madden games was the reason I got beat 24-0 last night by Lord Flatus, but he just administered an old fashioned butt-whoopin. He had a 17-play drive that lasted 7 minutes -- I didn't touch the ball in the 3rd quarter.
I am surprised that I haven't had any real trouble going back and forth between the games in terms of control. But where I suffer is playcalling -- what works in ESPN is much different than what works in Madden. You leave your CBs in one-on-one too much in ESPN, you will get pounded.
Now I get to face Sully this week. Bye-bye playoff hopes (hey, just like the real Bears!)

Immediately push down the X button at the sound of the whistle, then press the A button to snap the ball once everyone on your team lines up. The QB should spike the ball right away if done properly.
Leebo and Spooky, has this game been scheduled yet?
Jared -- I think Wayne is having connection issues..
Sully, still no word from the Skins owner?
And it looks like the Houston guy dropped; he's not listed in the website anymore. Hip, unless I get a new guy you may get an auto win, which I know you dont want. Why do people quit without TELLING ANYONE? Argh.

Thanks! If I am ever in another close game I will remember that.

Nope, going to the Heat/Clippers game...we've got to wait till Bill flips the schedule anyway...not sure when that's happening. I thought it had already happened. We'll just schedule it when he flips it.
Good game, Spooky. I ended up having the headset on. It's a good thing you didn't though because my kids decided to go bezerk. I had a crying infant beside me for most of the 2nd half and I was not in a good mood at that point.
I know should have went for a TD late in the 4th to make it 14-7, but I just wanted to score for the first time in 2 games...LOL.
I really don't *get* this game at all. Last year I had a lot of success running online with the Steelers, but I can't run Alexander worth a damn. I am confused on what to do. If I try to be patient then someone comes in and tackles me for a 3 yard loss. If not, I just run into the back of my line for no gain...LOL. I really should study the Seahawks playbook as this is the second time I've played with them and they have a ton of short passes. The game is frustrating for a newbie. I threw a flat pass to my FB who was semi open and didn't touch a button at all and Hasselbecks pass was a good 5 yards behind him.

Leebo,
One thing I've learned about running plays. It's often better to run into the designated hole even if there are defenders there. Once you break off the designed play, you get hammered, but the RBs seem to "know" they're in the right spot and they often break the early tackles. My impression, anyway.

Thanks, Rob. What should I try to do as I run the play. Should I do nothing, Tap A, "Power up", shoot up, throw up????

Depends on the play and the back. With Alexander, between the tackles I would probably power up ASAP and get ready to hit Y. That will give you a good chance of breaking a tackle. If you're outside or out in the open, tap like crazy, get ready to charge if you've got defenders close, and give them a power stiff arm with the white or black buttons.
The jukes are useful if you are past the line but in traffic. If you have a couple defenders near and try and break a tackle, you will probably get taken down. If you juke, you might only get touched by one and slip the tackle.
Spin is not very useful for most RBs, IMO. It's better suited for receievers trying to shake someone after the catch, or returns when you're trying to ditch a lone tackler.
Also, keep tapping until you're down. You can slip tackles even if you're hitting A, especially if someone is behind you and grabbing at you.

Nice game Leebo. You had me sweating it out there late in the game. I think I was up 7-0 in the second half when Pennington threw his 3rd pick of the season to give you a first and goal at the 10. Great game, man.
Sideline passes, outs and throws into the flat are much tougher to complete this year. You see a lot of errant tosses and dropped passes on those patterns so it can be frustrating.
Good luck next week Leebo. I've got the really tough stretch of my schedule coming up. My final 5 games are against winning teams, including Sully's undefeated Eagles. My record against teams with a winning record? 1-3.

I disagree, Brando. I regularly use spin with my RBs with a lot of success. It works in any open field situation, but is especially deadly as a means of beating LBs or CBs coming up to stop you as you turn the corner on an outside run. But it's all about how you play. Different strokes yada yada...

Thanks. I had a few chances to make it interesting, but failed to capitalize. I should have kicked that 44 yard FG in the first half, but I had no confidence in my kicking ability and I think it was only 4th and one. I wish I could have ran that interception all the way back. I started to get mad about my dropped TD pass until I remembered that Seattle's receivers routinely drop passes...LOL.
I don't care if I win, per se, but I don't want to lose every game by 2-3 TDs either. I've only played 2 games online this year, but I can't use that excuse for too long. 'll probably start catching on to the game by the end of the season...LOL. That's OK. For some reason I seem to get into the football games more from the time the playoffs start until the baseball games come out.

I should have phrased it better. What I meant was, I think the power moves are better with most RBs than the finesse moves. Spin definitely works in the open field, no question. However, I find that, if you have defenders behind you (as you would on a run from scrimmage), the spin sometimes makes it easier for them to catch up. Also, in the case of my back (Thomas Jones), he's much more adept at the power stuff. James can probably elude defenders much better.
I think Alexander can probably both elude and run over since he is such a beast.
But you're right, Rob it depends on your style of play. Leebo, I'd recommend just going into Practice mode and running plays on Legend with EQ turned on. Set the defensive playcalling to auto -- that actually can give you a pretty good feel for coping with a defense you don't expect and learning to audible out if you sense you're at a real disadvantage.

That's great advice. In fact, before every DSP league game, I try to do just that for about 10 minutes just to get the feel and timing of the game back (I haven't been playing anything but league games for awhile). It's sad and I am a dweeb, I know, but it seems to work ok.
Another bit on running. I find that only about 30% of the running plays are effective. I generally switch among those, alternating sides and motion to cover for the fact. Many of them seem designed badly and doomed to failure from the start. There is a stutter-step, cut back run in Indy's playbook that I try every game against a different defense, in a different down-and-distance situations that just flat out will NEVER work
Try finding a few go-to plays.
