Word about last year´s version was that it was great online, but not so good single player.

Is that likely to differ this year ?

Umm...it wasn´t online last year. ID was the BEST single player game last year, and the addition of Online play will make it the s*** this year. If they leave the core alone, add a few fouls and animations, and include LIVE, it will be the game to beat.

As for the two games you mentioned...ESPN is the better of the two, because of online play...but my copy is just sitting here waiting to get traded in for ID when it´s released later in November.

DAve you must be confused. Like DB said, ID 2003 wasn´t even online compatible last year.

The single player experience is great, though.
I´ll pile on -- Inside Drive 2003 was the best basketball game of any flavor I´ve ever played.

I will also jump on the Inside Drive bandwagon, however, I will say I am having a blast with Live 2004. My season stats are as realistic as any sports game I have ever played. Live 2004 is better than ID 2003 IMO, but ID2004 should be the best of the bunch if they just do what DB suggested (along with some toned down offensive rebounding).

I am REALLY hoping that March Madness is running on the current Live engine (a smoother framerate would be nice, although I don´t even notice the few hiccups on the PS2 version of Live). That way I can switch to ID 2004 for NBA/online and March Madness to continue playing on the great Live engine.

Is high voltage doing ID 2004. If they aren´t I dont´ think I would buy ID but rather rent it.

NBA Live beats out all games so far but ID isn´t out yet. So we´ll just have to wait. However, a word of caution, MS is getting bad and just making their games good for online play and forgetting other main gameplay compenents. ID has a good base to stand on so atleast all they have to do for this year is refine ID 2003.

FAR FAR FAR

....AAAH. You must be describing the latest follow camera in ESPN basketball. I´d like the game if I could see the action.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I´m not going to knock ESPN as I think it is pretty solid, but anyone that thinks Live is garbage this year hasn´t played it enough IMO.

That´s cool RAMMZZ, but when you start using all caps, about 20 exclamation points, and call one of the games garbage I´m not sure he will take you seriously anyway.

I also think that ESPN is better than LIVE...I just use the side camera and everything is fine. Sure I´d like to play behind the action but I can adapt. ESPN just seems to play a more accurate game of ball. I haven´t shot over 50% yet, even on Pro level. I can´t say that about any level in Live. Live is much improved but I think ESPN is better.

Basketball Question

Post by Leebo33 »

I hate the side camera and refuse to adjust. ESPN just isn´t fun enough for me to adapt after 3 years of playing from the follow camera (ironically enough, mostly on the 2k series).

ESPN probably does play a more accurate brand of NBA ball. I´m not going to argue that. Maybe that is why I think it is boring (not counting the atmosphere). Last night there were 12 NBA games and 13 teams scored in the 70s or 80s. 10 of the 24 teams in action shot 40% or less! There was a game that had one team shoot 27% and the other 29%. What fun.

I can get shooting percentages under 50% with very few slider adjustments (most of the shooting sliders in the 43-46 range), but your mileage may vary as I am not the most skilled gamer in the world and I rarely use the hop step. I don´t want to shoot over 50% except for the occassional fluke game, but I don´t want to play a game where I´m shooting 40% on average either even if it is more realistic.
Umm
I only used caps on 2 of the words...one of which was FAR(which I repeated 3 times....ya know emphasis on the crapiness of the game)
But
I will try to avoid caps ....if it means that much to people who read these threads.
It doesnt change my opinon that I think NBA Live is garbage.

OK, boys, truce. Your pissing match is only going one place -- in the toilet.
But as "The Rick" said in the famed ESPN ads about five or six years ago, "Let it go, let it go ... "

Post by Leebo33 »

Sorry. I wasn´t looking for a pissing match. I´m just not used to people bashing a game in this forum and calling it garbage without backing it up with at least a few comments. I can go to IGN for that. I expect more from the posters here so I called you on it, but I guess that is not the case. I was not hostile towards YOU in any manner (just your post), but if you feel that way then I apologize.
